This book was an interesting look at the phenomena of Coney Island, the largest stretch of amusement park that pretty much ever was. It was a very interesting book that commented on an emerging culture, however I think certain areas were very pointedly left out. Also, the author tried to validate himself by using lots of "educated words" which, while it didn't bother me too much, did make the reading a bit more tiresome.

a nice history of coney island and the rise of amusement parks, with the best part being the analysis of the clash between genteel values and the newly emerging identities spawned from industrialization.

I read this for class; it only took me two hours since there are lots of pictures! It's good if you're interested in this sort of thing.
