'He had to have her. She was his. And nobody would take her from him'.

First let me say that the title is RIDICULOUS!; but thank heavens the story isn't.
Pack with sexual tension that's thick enough to take my breath away, this book quickly became one of my favorite novellas. The heroine is a 17 year old woman and our hero is 28- ruggedly handsome and the town's sheriff.

Jake lifted his head. "Open your eyes." Her eyes blinked, then opened. "You're mine. Understand? From this day forward, you bel

I rarely give more than 4 stars for a novella as I don't think the brevity of the format allows for good development of story and characters. This novella, however, is better than most. It brings together a hardened Western sheriff who has been alone for a long time and one who needs little in the way of domestic comforts. The young and innocent girl who cleans his house and leaves an evening meal for him has been a quiet but persistent presence in his life for several years. When she comes of a ...more

One very short, but very enjoyable story.

Some times short stories blow you away and sometimes they don't. This one didn't. I generally love this author and her OTT jealous heroes. This one though just didn't do it for me. It lacked tension and conflict. I mean the potential was there to have something happen concerning the other man that wanted her, some kidnapping or something that the hero had to rescue her from but no. The major conflict if you want to call it that was that the hero thought she was too young to marry and that he cou ...more

This was a sweet story... wish it was a little longer, but worth the read. I'm not into western's, but I did like this one. Totally fell in love with Jake Cooper. I love the stories where the boy SLOWLY realizes he's in love with the girl. Becky has many chances to be with the 'rich boy'... aka Kyle Bolton, but makes a great choice to be with the lower income sheriff.

"How long Becky?"
"What?"
"Tell me sweetheart. I really want to know"
"What do you want to know?"
"Tell me how long you've wanted me"

I read this book last night and finished it instantly. I liked this story, it's kinda reminding me of an old manga series, Miriam (Oh, I love the manga, one of my favorite). The story is about Becky Hamilton, an orphan who fell in love with the sheriff where she works for. Jake Cooper is a 27 years old sheriff who's very handsome and has a very strong figures. Somehow he didn't understand how could he interested with a 14 years orphan girl that worked for him.

As time goes by, she grew up became

There is nothing more sexy than a man who wants to possess you as his own especially when the feeling is mutual, too.

Becky Hamilton had always wanted Sheriff Jake Cooper even at the tender age of fourteen. She enjoyed doing errands for him, cooking and cleaning his house. To her, that's the highlight of her day. But now that she's all grown up, everything gradually changed. Whenever they're in close proximity to each other, she would feel butterflies in her tummy. What makes it worse is Sheriff

The Sheriff and the Innocent Housekeeper

4/5 stars

Becky moved to Waco, Texas after the war to live with her spinster aunt, who runs a boarding house, after both of her parents died, at the age of 14. She began working for the sheriff, Jake Cooper, shortly after her arrival, keeping his house, preparing his meals, cleaning the house, doing dishes and cleaning up after him.

Becky has always been attracted to Jake and has loved working for him and taking care of his house over the las

Lynda Chance is an author I stumbled across and I loved the first story so much I went and bought another. Her stories are well written with great characters and a pretty good plot. I would love to see her add a bit of action and suspense to her stories. Being that is my preferred genre I think Lynda would create amazing erotic romantic suspense stories. She already has the first two components down perfectly. If your looking for a quick read in erotic romance I would highly recommend this autho ...more

My review:

I enjoy the writing style of Ms Chance. She reminds me a lot of Kristen Ashley and Jordan Silver, but maybe her men are not as forceful. It was a good book and I loved the characters.

Short and simple read. I love the way Lynda Chance writes. She takes the romance always encounters a few stumbles and roadblocks that are nerve-wracking but still gotten over fairly quickly and not overly drawn out of over-dramatized to the point that the issues seem insurmountable or ridiculous. In this case, Becky is forced to choose between Jake and Kyle, but in her mind there is no choice whatsoever. Kyle believes that he can give her any material thing she wants, and Jake begrudgingly agree ...more

I have to say after reading Under The Cowboy's Control and His Indecent Proposal, which both i like, i found this one as disappointing. I thought the writer didnt good enough in writing historical and it made me realized it isnt easy to write a historical romance.
This story idea was what made me wanted to try it in the first place, a sheriff wants a young maid. But the writing, ugh, it turned me down from the 25% first of the story. But i decided to stick through and finished it then i decided

Another good short story from Lynda Chance! I don't think i'll ever get used to the whole 'Western' thing though. Especially how insanely innocent the women are about sex and even kissing! But it didn't take away from the story :) I really enjoyed it.

Here are a couple of quotes that made me smile..

"Does your face hurt?"
"Will you kiss it better for me?"

"I love you, Becky.
"Jake, I love you, too."

"I wish i could spoil you, Becky. But i'm afraid i've just

Sweet! This was a quick, sweet, story with some wonderful anticipation and sexy moments. We have an old-town sheriff in Texas and his orphaned housekeeper. He has felt like a lecher since he has been attracted to her since she was 14 when she started to work for him, she has never thought of any man but him. At 17 she is attracting attention of other men, and he never considered that when he kept himself away from her, but she is his and finally the whole situation can't be denied any further

Ordinarily I love the whole unrequited personal assistant/housekeeper/girl Friday thing but this was just... unpleasant. The hero spent the whole time barking orders at the heroine eg "I want stew for supper". Or "You get a dress". I think he said please once. Call me a hopeless idealist but I think a man can be masculine and alpha without being a total douche, right?
And how he ignores her concern about her wedding dress getting wet, what a dick. I don't care how desperate he was to marry her, i

I liked...
1) that the book is short
2) that Becky (the main female lead) & Jake (the main male lead) know what they want and weren't willing to give up on what they set their minds (or hearts) to
3) that there weren't any surprising twist and the story was straight to the point
4) that both Becky and Jake are honest and forthcoming with their thoughts
5) the sweet ending

I wasn't a fan of...
1) the whole 'wild, wild west' background
2) the fact that Jake had had feelings for Becky even before he wa

I liked the story but it was a bit underwhelming; and, for a novella it needed to pack a lot of punch. However, despite the low rating, I did enjoy the read. I liked the main characters and the setting for the romance.

Loved this book even though it was a short book. It only took me about 3 hours to read it, but I'll for sure be reading it again soon! I can't wait to read other books by this author!

Becky Hamilton, is an orphan who came to live with her aunt love when she was fourteen. The sheriff where she works for Jake Cooper is the man that she has a crush on. She cooks and cleans for him, now three years later Jake is having a hard time ignoring his housekeeper and now she has an admirer who wants to marry her. It is time for her to make his move, because she belongs to him.
Very short story.. Jake is a dominant and Becky is in love.

I like Lynda Chance, really. I think she does wonders with her characters especially the alpha males but I simply couldn't feel the love building in this one. It's definitely not one of her better works but it was short and not too repulsive so it's forgivable.

So sweet! I'm getting your game now, LC!

Honestly speaking, I'm a sucker for a sweet heroine and an alpha male. The heroine is a bit 'too' sweet, but that's alright for when you're in the mood for a sweet romance with a happy ending.

Love that it was set in Waco, Texas!

Usually I don't like novels where the heroine "pines" after the hero for years but this one pulls it off. A great read. Only complaint was it was too short! I wanted more. This book introduced me to Lynda Chance and I have bought all her other books!

Always a fan of romantic fiction, I've always been in love with the alpha-male. So in love, I've never been quite satisfied with the restrictions of series romance. I like to get into a guy's mind and have him do or say exactly what he's feeling at the moment, and sometimes I shock even myself! I consider my stories soft erotica; one man, one woman, heterosexual. But since abiding love is always t ...more
