This is a better book than its first predecessor Ceritalah 1: Malaysia in Transition; the writer is ten years older, better travelled, more direct in his writing style and sharper in his observations and anecdotes. The writing is functional rather than fantastic -- there are few or no Southeast Asian journalists who are fantastic writers -- though this is possibly partly due to their writing for a domestic audience.
