I recently received a batch of books from The Thrillers Writers group and one of the books in the box was this book by Laura Griffin: Twisted.
From the very first line this author's ability and style is very apparent and in my very well read view she is a major player in the thriller book scene. Let me address the romance aspect, which is masterfully weaved into this story and that it could have been solely planted in either genre. The Tracer’s series is one of my favorites, I look forward to every book and as a result it tends to put a lot pressure on the newest release – a lot to live up to in my mind. Laura Griffin never lets me down. Her romantic suspense stories are a little heavier on the suspense side, but so very well done. After a gruesome murder in the small town of Waynesboro, Texas, detective Allison Doyle is very disturbed. Things like this don’t happen in her town. At the age of 27, she is young to have made detective, whether it is because she is one of the few females on the police force or her brains, she doesn’t worry about it too much. All signs point to the ex-boyfriend, who had been served with a restraining order the day before her murder. But that theory is about to go out the window.

Twisted -- Laura griffin
Laura you did it again! This book was fantastic and scary. I read these books and I am thinking the whole time it IS just a book but am still scared senseless. I need to finish it so I won't have night area, or think someone is in my house when they are not!
This book was amazing. I loved it and could not put it down. When I did I fell asleep to have a nightmare ( don't let it get to you) got up and kept on reading until the end. I needed to know what was going to happen.

Fifth in the Tracers romantic suspense series revolving around law enforcement and forensic experts at the police department in San Marcos, Texas and the nearby Delphi Center. The couple focus is on Detective Allison Doyle and Special Agent Mark Wolfe of the FBI.
My Take
Whoa, if ever there was a story for big girls not talking to strangers...this is it. We really do need to find a safe balance between the politeness we're taught and the rudeness that will keep us safe. Reading of Jordan's ordeal, More...

I love the fact that in this series we see the investigation step by step.
I liked Allison, she was 27 and the only female detective with something to prove since she's young, female and new to homicide, so despite the fact that no-one believes her about a serial killer she works on it along with the hero, FBI agent Mark who first caught wind of this killer ten years ago.
Mark is 43 and married to the job and divorced. He has too much of drive for the job and no time for other things. We see their More...

A murder’s been committed and a suspect is in custody, but rookie detective Allison Doyle after talking with veteran FBI agent Mark Wolfe is convinced that they have the wrong man. Mark has been trailing a serial killer that was thought to have been silent for a decade, but the similarities of the cases is too much to ignore and with begrudging assistance the police department go with Mark’s theory. Allison wants on the task force to better her abilities and to prove to her fellow officers and h More...

Twisted is the latest installment in the author’s thrilling CSI-like series only with more in depth forensic details to capture the imagination plus a healthy dose of romance!

TWISTED was my first Laura Griffin book, but she’s by no means a new author. According to her website, her Tracers novels follow “an elite group of forensic experts who help homicide cops and cold case detectives solve the most unsolvable crimes.” I thoroughly enjoyed this offering in her series and will check out her backlist. I was quite happy with the killer (never thought I’d say that) and completely on board when he was caught and in handcuffs. Naturally there was a twist and it worked for More...

I stayed up way way too late to finish this book and I really enjoyed it! It seemed a bit different from the other Tracer books to date because I felt it focused so much on the case and Allison and Mark.
While I felt like you didn't get to see as much of the Tracers as I'd like, and I must admit, I wanted an update on Sophie and Jonah, that I either missed, or it wasn't there at all. I really loved this book.
I think for me it was the story and the detail of walking through the case step by step. More...

I really enjoy reading books I could never write. Not because I don't have the talent to write, more because I don't have the patience to do the research required for these types of stories.
Laura obviously does. Her characters are well developed, three dimensial, and just as real as anyone you'd meet. The details about how the tracers at the Delphi Center work is spelled out enough so you know what you're reading is right. The level of detail about the police psyche is intense and I can truly be More...

This one's more thriller than romantic suspense - it's a tense, tightly-wrapped read that kept me up late reading.
The elevator pitch: Rookie detective Allison Doyle teams up with FBI profiler Mark Wolfe to track down a murderer. The rest of the force thinks the killer is the victim's aggressive ex-boyfriend, but Mark believes this is the work of a serial killer. If Mark is right, they've only got days before he strikes again. Of course Mark is right, Allison will end up in the line of fire, and More...

I've read some complaints about this one, but I thought it read about as well as the rest of the Tracers series, which is pretty well. Allison Doyle is a 27 year old homicide detective with a ginormous chip on her shoulder, having to prove that a young woman can be just as good as a man in her profession. Mark Doyle is an FBI criminal profiler who has abandoned all of life outside of his work, and comes to Texas to try to convince Allison's department that a serial killer he's been tracking for More...

This is the latest novel in Laura Griffin's The Tracers series. I recently read in an interview with Ms.Griffin, that her novels have many of the same characters, but each is a stand alone story.
The main characters in this novel are Mark Wolfe, Special Agent FBI, known as a legendary profiler. Allison Doyle is a female Detective in the Crimes Against Persons section. It was not an easy rise for her, she is the only female, and some of her fellow detectives, including her Lieutenant , question he More...

Another great addition to the Tracers series.
A tautly intense suspense involving a FBI profiler Mark Wolfe and the San Marcos PD, Texas, with a compelling romance between said profiler and a rookie Detective, Allison Doyle.
Allison first meets Mark at a store when he helps her in a hold up. She later calls to his motel room because she knows he is in San Marcos because of the woman who was found murdered in her small community. Allison is not on the case, Jonah Macon (Snapped) is lead Detective. More...

Oh, Laura Griffin, why can’t I quit you?
For real… you’d think after I went mildly ballistic over the Magical Missing Condom Syndrome in Griffin’s previous novel, Snapped* and wanted to strangle the main character in One Wrong Step (Celie is the worst main character I’ve ever read—I wanted the bad guys to kill her and leave her body in a ditch), I’d be able to make a clean break from Griffin’s books. Romantic Suspense is one of my favorite sub-genres, through the years I've read a lot and have grouped it into two categories. Category ONE - twists, turns and surprises everywhere, chilling tips and a hard time figuring out "whodunit". Category TWO - the "whodunit" is fairly obvious early on but the journey to arresting the suspect is an interesting, edge of your seat race to arrest them and/or catch before they strike again, with slight twists, turns and More...

The ending dimishes my grading of this book from excellent to mearly good. Total opposite of Snapped, Griffin's previous outing, Twisted works well in romance department, but the suspense plot is a bit old and tired. The heroine, Allison, is a minor character in Snapped, and I liked her until maybe half-way point in this book after she commited mistake after mistake with no sign of learning. Spunky she is. Stubborn she's plenty. Smart she's not. That brings me to my complaint about the ending wh More...

Laura Griffin’s high-adrenaline Tracers series is romantic suspense at its best. Her new novel Twisted will make readers feel like they have been pulled into an episode of Criminal Minds.

The Death Raven attacks and murders women on 2 specific dates each year. Rookie police detective Al More...

3.5/5; 4 stars; B+
I debated whether this should be a 3 star or a 4 star book but my ongoing love of this author tipped me over to 4. Laura Griffin writes a great Romantic suspense novel. I've enjoyed every one I've read; some more than others.

Twisted is part of an ongoing Tracers series. While there is some overlap of characters in more than one book, this series can be read sequentially or individually without losing the essence of the story or main character interaction. Twisted finds small town police detective Allison Doyle seeking out FBI Profiler Mark Wolfe to consult over a recent murder that in Mark's opinion, is part of a series of murders stretched out over a 10-year period. No one but Allison takes this information serious More...

Allison Doyle is a small town detective. Being one of the few women in the department, she is used to standing on her own. Having to be saved after walking in on a robbery in progress was galling enough, but having the tall, dark and enigmatic Mark Wolfe be the one to save her was even worse.
Mark Wolfe is a very successful FBI profiler. He has closed many cases, but it has come at a price. Being attracted to Allison Doyle is not an option. He has a serial killer he is on a deadline to catch. All More...

I normally remember exactly what I read but I had a strange sense of deja vu while reading this novel, especially towards the end.
Allsion Doyle is a cop who is excited to be on her first big task force. Wolfe is an older FBI angent who has been on far too many of them. As they hunt for a serial killer, they find themselves falling for each other. But what will happen when Wolfe has to move on to his next big case?

As I've said before, I'm a huge fan of Laura Griffin's romantic suspense. This latest continues her TRACERS series, introducing Allison Doyle, a rookie homicide detective, and Mark Wolfe, a workaholic and legendary FBI Profiler. Even though I knew how this book would have to end, and what the climactic scene would have to be, the characters of Doyle and Wolfe were so engaging, I enjoyed every step of getting there. My only complaint would be the way Griffin's characters kept talking about how OL More...

Loved it! Of course, Laura Griffin always keeps me on the edge of my seat, bed, car, or where ever it is I can find to sit down and snag a moment to read a couple of pages of the book. The investigations and unfolding of crimes are so enthralling that I can't stop turning the pages. I never wanted to put the book down, because of the suspense and let's not forget the angsty romance. I love that her female characters are always empowered, tough girls, that get the job done and the man they want. More...

This book is excellent. It easily goes down as one of my favorite romantic suspense books of all time. I loved everything about the book, both the suspense part and the romance.
I also love the fact that any woman who reads this book, can learn a very valuable self-defense lesson: if your instincts tell you there's danger, listen to them. You don't have to try to prove to a stranger that you're a good samaritan or even have to help someone out if you feel like there's something off or dangerous a More...

Great story line, well balanced, with enough interest to keep you guessing, with only 4 female cops in Texas, Allison Doyle is a rookie cop and is a determined young lady.
There is a dead body and everyone is trying to figure out why she was tagetted. Then Mark an FBI agent is called in, you know it is serious.

Good solid entry in one of the better RS series out there. Absolutely love that the suspense/thriller aspect doesn't take back seat to a sappy love story. The love story is credibly woven into the storyline without it being over-the-top or distracting from the taught, exciting story.

Not only do we get well developed characters, the police procedural aspects and the DNA analysis are well written. “Twisted” by Laura Griffin is another of the mesmerizing novels in her ‘Tracers’ series. Allison Doyle is at a disadvantage in her department as the rookie detective and one of the few females on the force.
