This Book Is Not JUST Awesome...This Book Is THE AWESOME!

This book is the kind of book that makes me want to become a promoter so that I can spread the word. It has 7 ratings and, seriously, there is something wrong with that picture. Everyone needs to know about this book. EVERYONE.

Missouri Dalton made her way into my top 5 list of favorite authors, and she made it there with exactly two books. Fucking A, man!!

Sebastien Crowle is a Grave Watcher, an individual whose grave was disturbed, leadin...more

Sebastien's voice in this book is just fantastic. He read like he was from the period he was from and it fascinated me. I have no idea if the author is doing more of these but I loved this. The turns of phrase were so poetic and his view point was so fresh to me.

Admittedly I picked this book up thinking it was a sequel to another book so that threw me when I realized my mistake but then I just went along for the ride.

The world building here is so unique, like nothing I've read in another PNR, s...more

A solid and entertaining novel - perhaps not a truly outstanding novel but certainly an enjoyable and different story.

A Grave Watcher is a person whose final resting place is disturbed and dead body profaned. Death herself comes calling when this happens, restoring the dead to life, so that now undead person becomes the guardian of the dead, protecting their souls and bodies.

Sebastian is such a man - a grave watcher for several centuries - who has withdrawn from active cases for nearly...more

This was pretty boring at times, but I liked it anyway.

I'm half-asleep, so don't mind the rambling...

I liked the book a lot - it is possibly the best written Dalton's book I've read so far. I like the world building, Sebastian's voice, humor, secondary characters (Claude!). Sebastian's allergy to all things modern was hilarious.

The book just needed... some spice... or some restrain in the romance department. I wish that Sebastian's connection to Bones was explored earlier/more through the book or left for the later books. With Sebastian mooning ove...more

Absolutely marvelous! From the first page to the last Missouri Dalton's tale of the undead kept me riveted with a variety of three-dimensional, fascinating characters. Although it's clear that there's a lot of sex going on, it's off-screen, which worked very well for the story.

The references to famous historical persons was cleverly done. The lost dauphin? Virginia Dare? They weren't truly lost, only killed to return as Grave Watchers, a secret society that protects the resting dead. The story...more

The Grave Watchers has an interesting story plot with nicely paced adventure that caught me from the beginning. Totally different concept of death I have read so far though I was a little caught up with the male/female fatale. I can't wait to read a new story from Missouri Dalton.

Good fantasy mixed with a bit of romance. I liked the idea of grave watchers, undead people who watched over graves to ensure that the dead rests in peace.
I liked the adventure, the characters, the descriptions and the writing. I find the style quite pleasant, a bit elegant, effortlessly funny and economical.

I'm not sure how I feel about the very end yet, but the the whole concept of grave watchers is totally new and original to me, the characters were fun and the story was entertaining.

original, deliciously quirky and laced with a decent dose of humor, sometimes of the blackest variety. A great, engaging, entertaining read.

Good m/m urban fantasy with a hint of romance about a Grave Watcher, who helps protect the dead from the living, and his ancient Egyptian feline sidekick as they track down an evil they've not seen before.
