Lilly loves everything about school, especially her cool teacher, Mr. Slinger. But when Lilly brings her purple plastic purse and its treasures to school and can't wait until sharing time, Mr. Slinger confiscates her prized possessions. Lilly is an elementary-aged student inspired by her wonderful teacher, Mr. Slinger. She loves everything about school, even the fish sticks from the cafeteria! One of the best parts about reading books to kids is that I'm reading it as the person I've become, but looking at my kids, I remember the person I was. Really, it's as if two mes are reading.

I love, love, love this book! The story is entertaining and has a lot of good messages in it.

Julia and I listened to this on audio last night and we both really enjoyed it. I haven't listened to many audio books for myself but Julia and I have listened to a handful together and besides John Lithgow in Micawber the narrator here is awesome.
Her voice inflections are perfect, the voices of other characters in the book are perfect. (I think Julia's really starting to love audio books because I suck at voices.)

Lilly is a very spirited mouse. She is super excited about school and her teacher and showing her new purple plastic purse to all her friends. Lilly learns a lot about her feelings and consequences when she insists on talking out of turn in class and gets so angry at her beloved teacher.

A few tons of thanks to Goodreads friend Kathryn who recommended this book to me because I doubt I’d have read it if not for her recommendation. I knew that I wanted to give two and a half stars to this book, which left me a hard decision between rounding up to three or down to two. I decided on the latter.

I think that while the girls in a class would find this book to be fun, the boys might be detracted at how it seemes "girly". However, there are many ways that you could connect this book to a class through writing activities and show and tell.
