Reason for Reading: next (and last) in the series.
I really enjoyed Dragon Seer and was thrilled to find out McNaughton had written a sequel. This is a sequel with a finite ending, not just another book in an ongoing series so the two make a nice companion read. Dragon Seer's Gift takes place centuries after the first book and only contains one continuous character. Events from the first book are heavily mentioned and integral to the story, so it is important to read them in order. This time the...more

Yes, there’s a dragon on the front, and, yes, this book is really just another children’s fantasy novel, but two things set it apart from the others: 1) it’s got more history than actual magic in it and 2) it’s set in Newfoundland.
1) means that you learn a little bit about things like the Picts or the Holocene mass extinction. 2) means that, for Canadian readers, it has a lovely familiar feeling, and McNaughton occasionally makes pithy little observations about Newfoundland, like “St. John’s is...more

In Dragon Seer's Gift , Gwyn and Maddie Rae discover the last dragon on earth while investigating articles written by their ancestor, Daniel Rae, who was actually the most recent Dragon Keeper. While trying to figure out how to undo an ancient curse with Hermit (the dragon), Gwyn and Maddie must deal with bullies, school projects, and parents who are noticing mysterious occurrances around the house.

This book was okay. It started out boring but when Maddie and Gwyn found the key it got better. My favourite part was when they found the dragon Hermit . Then after that I thought it got boring all the way to the end. At the end I thought it was sad when Hermit left. My favourite character was Hermit. I liked Hermit because he was funny and he would always mess up the house when Gwyn and Maddie were at school. Also, he would always yell at Gwyn for having a messy room. This book might get my vot...more
When I first got this book out of the library I thought I would love it and I thought it would be a great book. But when I started reaing it I knew that I thought wrong. In the begging it was sort of confusing it was just about a kid that got bullied. After i started getting more into the book it was getting better. By the time I reached the tenth chapter I loved it.I could not put it down,it was so unpredictable. This book did not have any bad parts, just boring parts.
I gave this book a 5 because It was never to boring that I had to abandon it, It always had adventure and that is what I like in a book.It is about a boy who is a descendent of a dragon seer. Soon after he and his sister find the Dragon but only the descendents of The dragon seer can see the dragon. I would recommend this to any one who likes fantasy.
Despite the fact that this book was clearly written for elementary or junior high students, I really liked it! Very original premise and the references to Canada were unexpected and appreciated - it isn't often that I get to read a story set in my own country that isn't super biographical. Loved it! Four stars!
Dragon seer's gift was a really good! My favourite character was gwyn. He gets bullied by a kid named tyler cull. Gwyn heres about a heritage project that his class is doing and instanly starts to get infomation. In the book gwyn finds his familys dragon while he is looking for his great grandfathers history. I hope other people like this book as much as i do.
This book is about Gwyn and Maddie Rae who are siblings. Gwyn is doing a project for the Heritage fair and in his research he finds a book that only he and his sister can read. The book leads him to Hermit, a dragon who is thousands of years old. Hermit tells Gwyn and Maddie that it is his responsability for him to find the weaving tablets that were lost when he was born and to undo the curse that was put on it so that mankind can be free from the curse. And that now Gwyn and Maddie have the resp...more
