CIP: Introduces colors and shapes with illustrations of shapes that form animal faces when placed on top of one another.

Review: The bright, bold colors will appeal to young children. While clever, it was a bit of a stretch to see some of the animals.

SLJ: highly favorable - "brilliant juxtapositions of vibrant primary colors"
ALA Caldecott Committee "masterpiece of graphic design"

Everyone enjoyed this. A fun way to learn or review colors and shapes. A lot of the books at the library were damaged though so we had to look through several before checking one out. You can't really learn shapes if half the shape is missing!

I use this for all my toddler and pre-k kiddos.

just checked this out of the library. a very creative way to learn shapes and i could see quite a few craft ideas that my kids could make by using this book. (basically it makes an animal, and then a shape is peeled off by turning the page and there is another animal. pretty fun.)
