For anyone who enjoys the history of the British Monarchy, this beautifully illustrated book is a great resource. What makes it especially fun is its offering of salacious details of monarchs including affairs and betrayals. I especially appreciated the medieval and Tudor eras. The eighteenth century seemed a bit boring. Though they were certainly scandalous years, I found it tedious trying to keep up with various mistresses and illegitimate children. After Queen Victoria, the media became much ...more

I picked up this book because I was interested in the reproductions that would be included. I knew most of the facts that were included in this book, but it is more of a coffee-table book rather than a deep non-fiction read.

I thought there was a great selection of members of the British royal family; while not every person is included, all of the time periods are represented here. Even though there were royals who were skipped, they were usually mentioned to some extent in either the preceding o

Aesthetically, this book was very beautiful. I loved the pictures and the momentums. The book gave lots of interesting information about the kings and queens. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because I found some of the phrases used in the book to be awkward for something that's historical and would be better placed in a gossip magazine, and later on it did become more of a gossip magazine rather than a book over history.

If you like history, but you don't like seriousness, this is the book for you. It is light and quick in its recaps of the English monarchy, and for the most part is not too misleading in the way it portrays the love affairs. Its a little silly sometimes, and the writing isn't great, but its a fun coffee table book.

Got this as a Christmas gift from a friend who shares my love of British royalty. I read it all the night i got it. Very enjoyable with nice photos. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it did skip over a few monarchs that I think didn't deserve to be skipped. Also, some pertinent info was left off of other monarchs. But all in all, a great thing to own!! I love it!

This book gives a great insight on many royal affairs. The replicated letters and documents are very interesting and really add to the value of the book. The book itself is very sturdy and well-manufactured. A quick read.

I used to tell people that I was born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx; but the truth is that apart from the stellar education I received at the Fieldston School in Riverdale, much of who I am was shaped by my two grandmothers, who encouraged me to follow my bliss long before it became the sort of catchphrase you find on tee-shirts and new-age tchotchkes. My East Side grandmother took me to FA ...more
