The protector: Peter Jessup, former Navy SEAL, currently employed by Taylor Security. He likes being the hero--in charge and in control.

His client: Lawyer Isabelle DeRosa. The sexy brunette is the personification of Peter's fantasies. She's willing to get physical but nothing more serious.

The assignment: When Isabelle becomes the prime suspect in the murder of her cousin,

A Just Deception by Adrienne Giordano was the second book about the men who work for Taylor Security and this time we have Peter "Monk" Jessup, former Navy guy kind of on a low fuse and forced by Vic into taking R&R.

So, Peter makes his way back home, where he shares a weird relationship with his family. He has never lived up to his family's wealthy name instead ran away at nineteen to join the Navy and get married. His head is pretty messed up due to the death of his friend Tiny and now one

A Just Deception by Adrienne Giordanno is her second book in the Private Protectors series. 32 year old Peter Jessup is former Navy SEAL and now works for Taylor Security. Forced into taking a vacation to get his act together, Peter is a restless soul that has no penchant for sitting around twiddling his thumbs. Coming from a family that is filthy rich, Peter is someone who feels comfortable being his own guy, away from all the rules that the ultra rich society adheres to.

Isabelle DeRosa is a de

This romance started out with two strikes against it: the hero has the same name as my father, and he likes to wear a do-rag, a fact which is mentioned many, many times. I got used to his name fairly quickly, but continued to mentally shudder every time “do-rag” was mentioned. This was somewhat balanced out by him being very sweet and having epic hair.

Former SEAL Peter is on an forced mental-health leave when his boss (hero of the previous book in the series) asks him to help out a friend who ne

I was excited when this second book in a series appeared after reading and reviewing the first book Man Law, and found that like many series, some characters were carried over. Not that they are main players in this story, but they give broader scope to the story for those who read the first novel. This is still a stand alone story and any reader new to this series or this author will still enjoy and be able to get everything out of this novel that I think the author intended.

That being said, we

I have read this book twice (as I have with all Adrienne’s books). I have read a lot of other books since I initially read this book and realized how good these books are. Since rereading this book I have come to enjoy Peter and Izzy's relationship more than I did the first time. I tend to compare books to each other and since I liked Vic and Gina so much in Man Law, I didn't really give Peter and Izzy a fair shot. After rereading it I changed my mind. Peter and Izzy have a lot of depth to them ...more

I LOVED this book. I love this author's voice. She writes realistic dialogue and characters. Izzy (a kick ass - literally) heroine and Monk were both damaged, and I rooted for them to get together. Monk is caring and supportive while maintaining his alphaness! And the suspence aspect of the story is believable, and heck, kept me up way too late last night because I had to know what happened! Can't wait for the next book in the series!

The second book in Adrienne Giordano’s Personal Protectors series is every bit as good as the first…and I loved Man Law.

Peter “Monk” Jessup is an overachiever in the fix-everyone-else’s-problems department. He recently lost a close friend as well as a teammate, and even though he couldn’t have prevented their deaths, he’s at odds with himself, angry and unable to process the deep grief tying him up in knots.

Isabelle DeRosa is a lawyer who’s overcome being sexually abused by her cousin as a young

A Just Deception was kindly provided to me by Netgalley for Carina Press.

Peter ‘Monk’ Jessup is an ex navy-SEAL now employed by Taylor Securities. Forced into 3 weeks of personal vacation after the death of two close friends, he agrees to provide security advice to a friend of his boss.

Isabelle DeRosa is a defense lawyer and everything Peter loves - classy, sexy and smart but deep down she is hiding a devastating past where she was sexually abused at the hands

Wow, I really don’t even know where to begin with this review. With each book I read in Adrienne’s Private Protectors series I become more enthralled with this author. This is an author who is not afraid to take on some tough subjects and explore them thoroughly without mincing words or hesitating.

I’m now envisioning her as the kick ass heroine in this book, A Just Deception.

Isabelle (Iz or Izzy) DeRosa is a criminal attorney, a master at self defense, an

I really enjoyed this book; it is the second in the Private Protectors series. It is well written and keeps moving, it really held my attention. Peter and Isabelle are two emotionally damaged people that are thrown together, while trying to solve a murder and prove Isabelle innocent; they find love drawing them together. Peter is a former Navy Seal who now works for Taylor Security; he is suffering from PTSD after two of his friends and associates are killed on the job. Isabelle is a defense att ...more

LOVED this one! Full review to come!!!

My Review:
Okay, it is no secret that I loved the first book in this series, Man Law. In fact, I was a little worried when I picked up this book to read it, that my expectations would be too high and I would hate it. This so should not have been a worry with this book. OMG, it was so freaking good.

In fact, as I was reading it, I kept having to put the book down and reflect on Adrienne's amazing skill as a writer. There are some really heavy emotional underto

Book 3 in the Private Protector series from Adrienne Giordano. This is the story of Peter "Monk" Jessup and Isabelle "Izzy" DeRosa.

Monk has been forced into a month of R&R after he loses another friend on the job. He heads home, which is lucky for Izzy, as her sexually abusive cousin (Kendrick) is back in town and giving her trouble. It's lust at first sight for Monk, who goes above and beyond in helping Izzy out. After Kendrick is found beaten to death, she becomes a suspect after her uncl

Have you ever had a friend who’s smart and well-educated but makes incredibly dumb decisions? If so, you’ve met Isabelle DeRosa, heroine of Adrienne Giordano’s A Just Deception, the second book in Ms. Giordano’s Private Protector series. I absolutely loved the first book, Man Law (read my review), so I was really looking forward to reading the second book in this series. Unfortunately, I feel really conflicted about this second book.

This is the second in the Private Protectors Series. We meet Peter Jessup, aka Monk, in Man Law as one of the ex-SEALs who have taken employment with Taylor Securities. In this book, we learn that Monk comes from a society family with a very healthy bank account. In Man Law, Monk's cousin is killed. This was on top of having a bad outcome on his last security assignment. He feels responsibility and guilt over these deaths even though there was nothing he could have done about either of them. His ...more

NOTE: I debated on whether to say anything or not about this book because it is getting a ton of glowing reviews. Please, Please, Please go read them because I think this is a case of "specific to reader" syndrome. I loved Man Law (the first book in this series) and was excited about A Just Deception. However, I am 30% done with the book and can't stand Peter/Monk.

I enjoyed this romantic suspense book. It had an intriguing and fast moving plot. I liked the two main characters, Peter and Isabelle and the steamy relationship that developed between the two of them.

After Isabelle's cousin is murdered, she goes undercover in a cult like environment to try to find who was behind the death. Due to a history of sexaul abuse inflicted on her by her murdered cousin, Isabella looks like a likely suspect in his murder. She goes to the cult like group so that she can

4.5 out of 5. Another riveting story from an author who appears to have "nailed" the knack of telling a very good love story wrapped in a tense, nail-biting kind of mystery/undercover effort. A congresswoman's daughter has disappeared; an attorney who is a close friend of the hero's boss is being stalked by her child-abuser cousin; the hero is in the throes of his own emotional/mental/psychological melt-down as he struggles with loss and grief over the deaths of two colleagues. Lots going on in ...more

Two beautiful but, damaged people are thrown together and while trying to solve a murder and absolve Izzy from blame, they found "real" love drawing them together. Peter, a former Navy Seal and now an operative for a National Security firm is suffering from PTSD after two of his associates are killed on the job. Izzy, a defense attorney at her uncles prestigious Legal Firm was abused by her older cousin from age eight through age sixteen. Her cousin was never prosecuted as her mother and uncle w ...more

I really enjoyed this book. Well written and fast moving, it held my attention. An attractive female attorney was abused by her cousin when she was younger. That cousin turns up in her office, where she's employed by his father, seeking her help. She tells him to get lost, but he perseveres, even turning up at her home, where he tries to rape her. That threw me a bit. If he needed her help so badly, would he really try and force himself on her?

The hero installs a security system at her home and

This is probably the best of a strong series, although I have to admit that with this series I say that for each book as I finish it. The story takes romantic suspense to a whole new level.

Isabelle DeRosa works for her uncle's law firm even though she almost hates him for talking her mother out of prosecuting his son for molesting Isabelle for years. Isabelle turns to an old family friend at Taylor Security when her cousin returns and insists on talking to her. Vic sends Peter Jessup who is on m

The characters seem so...real. I felt a connection to Isabelle right off, and was very happy to see her paired with Peter. A hard nosed ex SEAL that had a secret home life of his own. The cult setting was creepy and you felt an instant hatred for the leader. The secondary characters were great, of course we caught up with Vic a little, and meeting Courtney was a kick. A girl with a chip on shoulder and a wicked tongue. I hope this series continues, I can't wait to see what the author has in stor ...more

Another winning romantic suspense from Adrienne Giordano. I actually read A Just Deception (BK 2) of Ms. Giordano's Private Protectors series first, so Monk and Izzy have a special place in my heart.

Izzy survived a devastating event in her life and still carries the scars. In walks Monk to help her heal. As with any great love story, healing is a mutual process between the hero and heroine, and Ms. Giordano tugs on the reader's heartstrings through the entire story.

Give this novel a try--you wo

Loved the relationship in this book - two damaged individuals, no easy resolution here, just slow development of trust. The story was well told, and though I guessed most of the big reveal, knowing it did not ruin the story one bit. I'm drawn to Ms. Giordano's characters and look forward to her next book.

I like this series. I liked the guy and I liked the story line, but damn the chick got stupider and stupider as the story went along. She was supposed to be healing and I guess she did, but she also got stupid. Dumb, really dumb, since she was supposed to be smart.
Amy
I was so impressed with how while dealing with some really heavy emotions and past life baggage the writer was still able to keep the "fun" in this story. It really made me laugh and cry. I can't wait to see more from this author!

“After slipping the condom on, he rolled on top of her, shoved her hair out of her face and held it while he got lost in those sea green eyes that, in a darkened room, shined bright.
He wanted her. And it wasn’t just the sex. He wanted the whole nutty package.”

“(Isabelle) “You can do whatever you’d like at my house.”
He raised his eyebrows and grinned.
“Within reason,” she added. “If I find you in my bed with a woman, you’re a dead man.”
He grinned bigger.
Her stomach knotted. “Did I say that?”
He continued to grin.
She had said it. Must be the fatigue. Three hours of sleep didn’t cut it.
He stepped closer. Oh, boy.
“Izzy, the only woman I want in that bed is you.”
