As I stated in my review for Darkness and Light, I loved Sean, and I loved Jem, and I loved that book...so as you can imagine, I loved this novella, too. :)
I absolutely loved getting to read something from Sean's POV. :D Fated Encounter was short and sweet...and the only thing I could have wished for was for it to be longer! Of course...it could've been 500 pages long and I still probably wouldn't have gotten enough of Sean. :P haha

I read (and loved) Darkness & Light last week so I jumped at the chance to read Fated Encounter.
Fated Encounter is a short story that takes one of the scenes from Darkness & Light and tells it from Sean’s perspective. I can’t say too much about Fated Encounter without giving away details of Darkness & Light but I will say that it was fun to see Sean’s take on what happened.

Sadly, I haven't read Darkness & Light by J.A. Belfield which Fated Encounter has made me see what I'm actually missing. I'm a real sucker when it comes to reading from a strong male's P.O.V. It was a bit mysterious in the beginning when Sean started the story while in the truck and a paranormal element to him started niggling at my brain. I lapped up all the little details about him that helped me come to the conclusion that he is a werewolf. Especially how he used all his senses and how th...more
Despite not having read Darkness and Light this novella was intriguing and a good short, quick read. From this I would now most likely read Darkness and Light to get a better understanding of the novel and so that I can fully understand what is happening and the connection between Sean and Jem.
From this novella it doesn't seem to me like Sean is speaking with male intentions (yet you can see he does in some parts) but his feelings shown seems to me somewhat female. This might be because not many...more

I have not read Darkness and Light. Based on what I read, I think I would need that to truly understand what was going on. Until Sean outted himself so to speak as the POV, I honestly thought it was from a girl's perspective. It was a super quick read and left me wanting to know more. I will have to read Darkness & Light then re-read this tale. But overall, I enjoyed this novella/short story.
This is the first I've read of anything from this author or series. This little taste though, has made me want to read the rest of the books. As soon as I write this review, I'll be hunting them down :)
This is a little peek into Sean, who is apparently a werewolf. There were a couple points it felt as if he were in wolf form even though I knew he wasn't. I really felt the intensity he was feeling toward Jem, although I wish he was a bit more forward.

After delving into the world of the Hathaway pack this summer with Ms. Belfield’s Darkness and Light (gave it 4.5 stars in my Goodreads review at the time),I was anxious to dive into Sean’s head and get his perspective on one of the pivotal scenes in the novel -- the first time Jem “scents” Sean at a local shopping center. I have to say I wasn’t disappointed in the least.
Fated Encounter takes us with Sean as he runs an errand for his (quite hot) demanding brother, Ethan. Without knowing why, Sea...more

What can I say about a story that involved Sean! ? (Yes, that ? is supposed to be a space away ... because in my head Sean comes with an ! after his name).
There's something really intriguing about reading the same scene from another perspective. It's like being sneaky and getting an insiders view to something I already know about.
I remember the shopping scene in Darkness & Light where Jem's attention is on something that isn't shopping (said that way so there are no spoilers) but here we c...more

While I liked this novelia, I haven't read Darkness and Light, which I think would have been helpful for me to understand what was happening between Sean and Jem. I read Fated Encounter twice to make sure that I wasn't missing something.
If I am being honest, I didn't understand Sean's reactions to seeing Jem for the first time. They seemed more female than male to me, which was part of the reason I reread the story.
Reading this has me questioning who these people were and what was happening, bu...more

This very very very short story. Is a scene from Darkness and Light from Sean's perspective.
It's a fun read! I just finished D&L so the scene was fresh on my mind.

First Review was 3 Stars:
This is the first piece I have read from J.A Belfield and honestly I was lost. Apparently this is to be considered a short novella in link with "Darkness and Light." The beginning just started with no indication of Epilogue or chapter and I was intrigued. Then it just stopped after the 6 pages of Sean running around the store. We then get a sneak peak (2 chapters) into “Darkness and Light” book one. This is all a fascinating setup for a book, but by no means should it be...more

I haven't read the Darkness and Light but it was nice and short and it left me the desire to know what has really happened. I can say that I enjoyed it, seeing the difference between Sean's POV and Jem's. (Yeah, I have a male POV fetish so I think if I have read the Darkness and Light I would be craving for more of this. LOL.^^)Gave it a 3-star review though coz I haven't read the fist book. So I think I would be reading the Darkness and Light pretty soon. The prequel, Instinct, sounds pretty co...more
I haven't read Darkness and Light, but after reading this short story, I am very interested. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the point of view was a male one and not female. The strange chemistry between Sean and his "dream girl" is intriguing and I would love to see more of their relationship! The author's language is easy, familiar, and comfortable which adds to the quickness of the read. Definitely going to read the first book!
Even though I haven't read Darkness & Light, I enjoyed this short story. Fated Encounter gave me a good idea of what to expect in Darkness & Light, that being said, I will most definitely have to read Darkness & Light! I also really enjoyed J.A. Belfield's writing style. I gave 3 stars to Fated Encounter because I haven't read Darkness & Light and don't know the background story.
As a man's POV goes, I loved Sean's. It was funny to see him 'stalking' Jem down the supermarkt aisles and had me giggling as I read on. Darkness and light seems like a very nice read. While reading it, questions about Jem kept popping up in my head. I'll need to buy it, maybe those answers are somehwere in there.
Good work on Sean's POV. loved it.

I really liked this perspective from Sean of the first time he glimpses Jem. It really brings into light how much she has consumed him for his whole life. I actually like his POV better than Jem's, he's more fun. It's cool to see what he's thinking and why he acts later on the way he does.
I love the concept of this book. Dreaming about someone you haven't even met. I am not sure if there was ever any books similar to it but I really like how this book was written. The ebook I got only had a think the first few chapters which leads me to wonder if Jem and Sean would be together. I would really hate to think that Jem would end up with the other guy that really pissed me off.

One day, a character and scene popped into J. A. Belfield’s head, and she started controlling the little people inside her imagination, as though she were the puppet master and they her toys. Questions arose: What would happen if …? How would they react if …? Who would they meet if …? Before she knew it, a singular scene had become an entire movie. The characters she controlled began to hold conve...more
