The cliffhanger at the end of the previous book left me wanting to read this book right away. And well, I think part of the anticipation which isn’t immediately gratified, caused some of the let down. But a lot of q...more

Dianne Duvall delivers another action pack romance in book two of the Immortal Guardians series. If you read book one and loved it you sure can’t miss this one.

What is Ami? That’s what we was left with in book one. In this book you get Ami dumped on Marcus as his second and you don’t get a clue about what Ami is until mid way, then things starts unwrapping about what she is. One thing about Ami is she is strong and can fight right along with an Immortal and it doesn’t take Marcus long to figure...more
Book 2 in the Immortal Guardians series, and the action, romance, and paranormal excitement continues! This time focussing on Marcus and Ami.

I really liked Marcus in the first book of this series – Darkness Dawns. Of course he’s a badass Immortal warrior, but he’s also loyal with a big heart and a fantastic sense of humour. He lives his life on the edge – throwing himself into danger with a carefree attitude, but he keeps his emotions close.

When Ami is appointed by Seth to be Marcus’ second, Ma...more
Marcus has been grieving over a love that was never his to lose and flying solo, throwing himself headlong into deadly confrontations with vampires, until - against his objections - he is assigned a 'second', Ami. And when his plan to scared her off doesn't work, Marcus is reluctantly gaining respect for the deadly little human and finding that it is way more than nice to have someone who 'has his back' after keeping everyone at a distance for so long.

I really liked both of the leads, the stubbo...more

Dianne Duvall delivers scorching romance, gut-wrenching emotions, and heart-racing danger and suspense in her latest Immortal Guardian’s novel, Night Reigns!

In the first novel, Darkness Dawns, readers were left with the mystery of what exactly Ami was and what part she will play in the series as well as Marcus’s depression over the loss of the woman he loved. When Seth, the leader of the Immortal Guardians, places Ami as Marcus’ second all of our questions are slowly answered.

Oh this is another swoony read by Diane Duvall. The first was Darkness Dawns (my review linked) and really needs to be read first. This book takes place not long after the first and you are already introduced to several of the characters and their situation. In this book Marcus, a immortal guardian is paired with Ami. This is their story.

So, without spilling the beans of the first book, I will tell you I loved the characters. Marcus was grouchy at first but quickly fell into the sweet bf role we...more

Thanks to the excellent introduction to the world and the mythology regarding vampires and Immortals in DARKNESS DAWNS, the first book in the Immortal Guardians paranormal romance series, Dianne Duvall wasted no time launching into an equally seductive story for the sequel, NIGHT REIGNS. Both the hero and heroine had been introduced in the previous book, but newbies to the series won’t feel like they are missing out when these two meet for the first tim...more
Ok, seriously, Dianne Duvall is my new favoritest of the favoritests. Nora who? Dianne Duvall puts them ALL to shame!!

Night Reigns is the second book of her Immortal Guardians series. The third one should be coming out this year so you'll only have book 1 and book 2 to tide you over. And please trust me when I tell you that two is SO not enough!!

Night Reigns focuses on Amiriska, who, if you remember from Book 1, Seth rescued from the evil government scientists who were torturing her. She goes by...more

4.5 Stars!

Wow! This is really turning out to be an interesting story. I didn’t see the new plot twists coming at all. I really enjoyed Marcus in the first book, DARKNESS DAWNS, so I’m glad he got top billing in NIGHT REIGNS. Ami is an intriguing heroine who I’ve rooted for from the very beginning. So glad they got their happily ever after.

What I find so fascinating about this series is the overall story that is developing throughout all the books. Ms. Duvall gives the reader just enough hints t...more
An awesome read.....the story and characters are just full of emotion, action, suspense and love. The series is written in a way that just leaves you guessing at who's story is next and in what direction will the story go?! I love all the main characters and look forward to reading each of the stories and hopefully their HEA's.

Paranormal Romance –Dec 6th, 2011
4 ½ stars

In the second in the author's paranormal series about immortal Guardians, a lone warrior is forced to take a very beautiful and vulnerable human female as his partner.

Marcus is a Guardian who likes flying solo, but when he is attacked by multiple vampires, even he finds it difficult to take care of them all until the very unexpected arrival of a human female named Ami who helps him. Marcus finds himself drawn to Ami but feels...more
These Immortal Guardians are hot! With hard bodies, super fast reflexes, and the skills to protect the human race from mad vampires on killing rampages, these guardians will capture your heart. In Night Reigns, the solitary Marcus is forced to take on a second after a near death experience. Ami is the tenacious second assigned to take on Marcus. As Marcus fights against armies of vampires, Ami is determined to prove her ability and worth. As these two battle at home and in the field, sparks fly!...more
If you read my review on Darkness Dawns, you should remember how much I loved it. Night Reigns was just as good, if not better. I loved this book. Marcus and Ami are so right for each other. I loved their easiness with each other. I loved that there was no angst. Ami is just too cute and could melt anyone's heart. While there is a lot of romance, Night Reigns also has its share of action scenes. The fight scenes are exciting and I found myself holding my breath a time or two.

There is a lot more...more

In Night Reigns, Dianne Duvall proves that she is extremely talented as a writer and has accomplished another wonderful book in the Immortal Guardian series! The romance is swoon worthy and can be easily devoured in one sitting due to the impact this book puts on the reader.

DD...O.M.G. This book was so awesome! This picked up right where Darkness Dawns ended. It's a year and a half later and Marcus is a live on the edge sorta guy...and that's quite an edge, as he is an immortal (and very little can actually kill him). The leader of the Immortals feels that by placing a second (a human assistant) with Marcus, maybe he might take better care of himself. And what a second she is... it's little Amiriska from Darkness Dawns, who has undergone training with weapons to AC...more
Night Reigns is the second book in the Immortal Guardian series by Dianne Duvall and continues a year and a half later where the first book left off with the discovery that Ami is somehow different.

The story starts off with the main premise of Marcus continuing to mourn the loss of his love Bethany and has turned to death and destruction of the vampires as his sole purpose of existence. Marcus's self-destructive nature has concerned Seth and he decides that it is time for him to have a Second an...more

I was absolutely blown away by the awesomeness of Darkness Dawns so when I found myself in a reading slump I decided to give Night Reigns a try hoping that it would jump start my book reading engine. Once again, Kirsten Potter's superb narration skills left me hanging on her every word; unfortunately Dianne Duvall's story did not have the same effect. I still thoroughly enjoyed this installment but the chemistry between Ami and Marcus is no where near as compelling as Sar...more
Ami just wanted to return her movie rentals, but when she hears sounds she easily recognizes, she can’t leave the Immortal to battle by himself against eight vampires. Grabbing her silencer and gun, she helps to take out vampires and meets the elusive Immortal, Marcus. When Seth makes her Marcus’s second, she is slightly confused, but eager to do her job.

Marcus has lived over 900 years. He has loved and lost, but that love was never returned in any way other than sisterly love. While determined...more
Awilk -never sleeps-
This book is really hard for me to rate. Even now that I have finished it, I am not sure how much I enjoyed it. The best bits for me were Marcus, a hero I would like to have as my own. I still enjoy reading about Roland, from the previous book. Seth still intrigues me. I would definitely read a book about him. Bastien is another character that I enjoy.
What I didn't like was Ami. Well, not so much her character, as she was a strong and able heroine. I felt she was a good match for Marcus. What I...more

Readers were given just enough information about Ami and Marcus in Darkness Dawns to leave them impatiently waiting for the next book. Duvall really delivers with this installment in the Immortal Guardians series. I loved all of the revelations she made with these two characters. Their lives, who they are and what they are and the lives they led that put them together were perfectly done.

I’m LOVING this series! It has a great overall story line. I love the fact that the enemies and the conflict...more
I'm giving this book a 4 because I am enjoying the story and it left me with enough questions that I'm eager for the next book. I like the characters, especially the hero/heroine.

I will admit though that I wanted to rate this book a 3 because of a reoccurring theme that Ms. Duvall is putting in these books. Apparently, Ms. Duvall is an organic-lovin', hybrid-driving, anti-crap food lover. I don't know how many times within these first 2 books that I had to hear how bad chemicals...more

If you read Darkness Dawn, the first book in the Immortal Guardians series, you will remember Marcus. He helped Roland and Sarah by letting them stay in one of his houses, but was always very morose. We had learned then that he was mourning the leaving of the woman he loved, Bethany, six years prior. When this book begins, it’s 18 months later and Marcus is still mourning. Mourning and missing his best friend, knowing that she’s with the peop...more

I find the book interesting enough that 4 stars doesn't suffice but I don't find it worthy of a 4.5 stars (a great read), hence the 4.25 stars.
When Ami was introduced in the first book, I thought it would take a few more books before we get to her story, which is quite the trend. Build up the mystery of the unknown person. Reading on her story as second in the series is a refreshing change. While I thought her origin is more paranormal, it turns out to be more sci-fi. Thi...more

This too gave me a feeling of deja vu.. It was just like Sherrilyn Kenyon's book series again. The story picked off where the first one left us hanging. It is Marcus and Ami's story. Beautifully narrated though a tad bit boring sometimes, it did make an okay read. I loved especially the connection of the Immortals and cats. So that has been favorite part:

The opossum is gone,” he told her.

A second later a plaintive meow sounded at the back door.

Ami rose with a smile. “Slim must have been waiti...more

Absolutely innovative, a well-done piece by Dianne Duvall.

Ami and Marcus make a dynamic dual that I found enticing to read. I especially love the anticipation Dianne built up around Ami-- who is she really? My curiosity took a life of its own, I wanted to know what kind of creature she is and what's her story. Absolute intrigue. When an author appeals to your curiosity and tugs at your heart strings you know you are in for a thrilling read.
Marcus is certainly entertaining himself. I never expect...more

First I am a big fan of Dianne's, I absolutely loved Darkness Dawns and waited quite impatiently for Night Reigns. Three quarters of the book did not dissapoint; Marcus and Ami are awesome together and I loved the fact that Ami is as bad assed as Marcus is HOT! The um love scenes......well lets just say I am still fanning myself and has made for some interesting...well never mind. I liked that Roland and Sarah were still prominent players, I enjoyed them this time almost as much as last time and...more
Talk about the biggest letdown of the year. This is the one book I was anticipating the most. The one book that didn't get here soon enough. The one book I was impatiently patient for. I've had all my friends reading the first book in the series, because I believed it to be that good!

This book lived up to my expectations all the way up to where Ami tells Marcus who, or rather, what she is, which is around the 75% mark or slightly after that if I remember correctly.

The story is fast paced and engrossing. The author gave a twist to the original vampire myth and not one that I've read before, it was something I never guessed which is saying something cause for one I've read a lot of vamp books and I can usually figure this stuff out before the half way point.
