I really loved this book. It helped me during my preparation for the PMP exam. I passed from the first time (proficient) in all knowledge areas.
The beauty of this book is that you feel that Rita is a friend helping you with the exam preparation. I highly recommend this book for anyone thinking of taking the PMP exam.
A must, even if you are not planing for PMP

A very good book; it summarizes many concepts of management in a good and coherent framework..

Recommends it for: anyone preparing for the PMP exam
I didn't have time to finish the book prior to taking the PMP exam nbut I did pass the exam the 1st time. I liked this book mch better than the Andy Crowe book. The book uses an understanding approach rather than a memorization approach. It includes tasks for the processes and the sequencing of the tasks. This is an important concept for the exam since many questions ask what should be done first or next. It also includes the material on the exam that's not covered in the PMBOK. I would highly r ...more

Recommends it for: Professional Project Managers
PMP Exam Preparation. Overall, a good book for preparing for the exam. Lots of tips and exercises to get you thinking about how the exam is structured and what kind of content you'll need to expect. I passed using this, another reference book and an exam prep course. I was most likely over prepared.

Delightful. It is such a pleasant change to ready a study guide where the author has a sense of humor and fun. AND I passed the PMP exam!

There are many books for learning project management or PMP. But this book definitely aims at passing exam. I had fair amount of knowledge to carry out projects well at my organisation. But passing PMP means giving PMI expected answers which one finds out upon giving first test after first round of learning. I had gone through the entire PMBOK and was scoring in the range of 50 to 60%. That's where I started looking for other preparation sources and I found this book. I'm writing this review hop ...more
A must have resource for passing the PMP exam. It provides necessary depth and breadth of the processes, is written in a manner that is comprehensible and the quizzes are a bit more challenging than Crowe. (They require more situational application). This book helped me pass the PMP exam (today! The first time!).

Fantastic book with numerous practical examples throughout chapters that help to get a better understanding of the PMP methodology to give you better chances of passing the PMP exam. I found the quiz tests to be complete and aligned with the knowledge being taught in its respective chapter.

good explanation of the concepts involved, but I din like the way diagrams were used. Good use of flows charts and input out diagrams would have made this material more worth while...
But i still liked the way concepts were explained....

Sometimes a little too much blah blah, but I liked that it takes PMBOK theoretical concepts and explains them with day to day project manager's real life situations. It is like having the PMBOK translated to regular English.

That is the book that helped me pass the PMP exam. I studied only through this book for 6 months, every day in the morning, and passed the exam on my first try (it really works!). No prep course needed, only this book.
100 times more useful than the PMBOK. Puts information in a way that can be understood vs. A generic presentation of repeated statements

This is the most powerful Book for PMP exam preparing.
If you want your PMP buy this book.

Read it three times (she tells you that in the book). She gives great study tips like taking notes in the book directly'll see.

I got my PMP by reading this three times and taking the corresponding practice exams via the Transcender corporation.

She doesn't pull punches in the book. It's raw and uncensored.

As intimidated as I was by the exam this book was very helpful.
Four stars plus? Really? It sucks horribly, in all imaginable senses: it is barely readable, the language is terribly confusing and the ideas are tied together by the thinnest thread of logic (oftentimes, not even that). Sill, I've looked around, and it is indeed the most comprehensible source for studying for the PMP exam: can you imagine how bad the others suck?
I truly believe I passed my PMP exam because of this book. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to pass the exam on their first try. Please note: You have to put in a lot of hard work, study, and know what you are doing as a project manager to pass the exam! Rita just gives you the roadmap and some great techniques to help you study and pass the exam.
Spent 1.5 weeks with this book and passed my exam on the first attempt.
This is not only a fantastic study guide for the PMP exam but it's also like the missing manual for how to be a better Project Manager. I will be referring to this book long after I pass my PMP Exam.
i am only giving it 3 stars, as i would never pick this up and read it on my own for the sake of reading. but, it is a great reco as a comprehensive resource to study for the PMP exam. the practice tests are thorough and the hints/tips are great. i'll post back if it's the ideal study guide once i take the exam.
What a great prep book for the PMP exam! I finished a PMI Review Course and immediately began reading this book. It provided a lot of clarity to topics I didn't fully grasp or understand after the course and reading through the PMBOK. Highly recommend it as a study and reference book!

Not sure how valid Ritas test prep will be now being that the PMP exam is changing, but I do suspect that she will be revamping this test prep. Very helpful and filled with lots of tips, activities and practice tests and questions to help you prep. Worth the investment.
If you are studying for the test and do not have this you are missing a key element in your plan. After reading this book it all made so much more sense and I was able to apply my practical experience into the framework much more easily.
This is not a book you want to read or want to have to read. But if you are reading this book, it means you are inflicting pain on your self in order to achieve the PMP Certification. The best there is for this endeavor!
Mike Prusaitis
For being a highly effective tool at preparing me for the PMP, it deserves a five. For being as metaphorically as dry as the desert, it warrants a one. Overally, it deserves a three.

And yes Hari, I read it three times.
Slowing working my way through...this review book is a great overview for Project Management, has lots of sample tests, games...well worth the expense.

This was a great study guide fot the test!!

Excelente livro preparatório para a Certificação PMP. Fui aprovado estudando basicamente por este livro. Uma dica importante é deixar para ler o Capitulo 4 (Integração) por ultimo.
I loved the practice questions and the end of each chapter and the processes chapter was my favorite and I actually passed my PMP exam thanks to this book and the PMBOK also.
