Hoodoo and high magic are on a collision course.

Roxanne Mathis isn't like everyone else. Not only can she see auras and spectral entities, she can mix herbs and roots for spells to do good or ill. She can even light a candle without the benefit of a match. But when she’s hired to exorcise a demon from a young girl, she discovers the limits of her powers.

Mojo Queen is both about paranormal investigator Roxanne Mathis, who just so happens to be a practicing witch. Often aided and abetted by her ancestor, vampire Daniel, Roxie spends Mojo Queen doing battle with a demon summoned into a young woman. She's both frustrated and tempted by Blake the Sexy Sorceror, a devillish young man with a penchant for chaos magic.

I don't normally read paranormal romance but these books are closer to urban fantasy, and there's enough of the cool energy-blasting and

Positively magical! Roxanne Mathis, a witch and paranormal investigator, is the voice in this outstanding tale. A particularly conniving and sneaky entity has been called forth; beckoned through a ritual that badly misfired, by a lonely, driven sorcerer. Unfortunately, promises mean nothing once the demon enters the physical plane. A life is destroyed, and several others are threatened. Roxie struggles to unravel the mystery of the hellish beast so that it may be cast out, but she has never befo ...more

Hellhounds on your trail, boy…

Sometimes I just have to question my sanity – I downloaded Mojo Queen by Sonya Clark right after it was released. After having read the description, I knew it would be something I’d enjoy…then life intruded and my reading time went out the window. Once I finally caught my breath again, I picked it back up and never stopped to put it back down – WOW! This book made me late for everything, kept me up way past my bedtime and made me miss my own deadlines by a country m

A different kind of supernatural novel. In a market full of vampires and werewolves, it was very refreshing to read about a demon possession. Okay, there was a vampire, but not the typical vampire character. The depth of his (non-romantic)relationship with the protagonist added a wonderful dimension to the story.
The main character, Roxie, is very real, and thus, very interesting. She isn't a badass full of martial arts moves. She's bookish and even a bit nerdy, right down to the glasses. But th

Romancing the Dark Side Review:

Dark, magical and wickedly sexy!

Roxanne Mathis is anything but your average girl, she's a witch and "ghost hunter" who happens to have a vampire as her cousin. As a paranormal investigator and exterminator, Roxanne is used to dealing with mischievous ghosts and spirits in her work, but nothing prepares her for her latest gig. When a couple of college students hire her to perform an exorcism, things take a dark and ominous turn and Roxie finds herself in the middl

Mojo Queen

I was supplied with this copy by the publisher but as always on the basis that my opinion is honestly held and not influenced by whether the book was free or paid for. Integrity of reviewers is important to me, and false reviews do no favours to authors or readers.
I started this series by getting the terrific Red House to review – that’s the follow on book to this one. I loved it so much Sonya kindly gave me Mojo queen so I could start the series from the beginning ( and I'm hoping So

Mojo Queen was good read, it grabbed my attention right away and wouldn't let go. I was with the characters the entire time. The battles they faced, I faced with them. When they were running for their lives, I got winded. Lol. The ending was a little disappointing though; I was hoping for a nice big pizzazz ending but it kind of left you hanging. I wasn’t sure if the heroine and hero got together or not. But beyond that, I loved this book.

When I offered to review this book, the author told me it might not be my type of thing. I’d read the blurb, seen it was PNR and told her I’d give it a go. I’m really glad I did because I enjoyed the hell out of this book. It’s dark, sexy and a little bit twisted – I recommend it wholeheartedly.

This book tells the story of Roxanne Mathis, a witch with unusual powers. She can read aura’s of the living, see ghosts and spirits, mix roots and herbs to make some powerful spells and has been known to

Okay. This book? Kinda rocked my world. It was fast paced, fun, a touch sexy and the love interest wasn't at all what I was expecting. I mean, I didn't think I'd like a guy who dabbles in dark magic but he's got this whole vibe going on. It was borderline awesome edging into full on panty melt.

I really *really* liked that the magical aspects weren't over-explained. They were touched on and you were given a broad sense of what the different elements of the spells, etc were used for but there wasn

Witches, Ghosts, Demons and A Vampire Oh My! This book had all that and more. What I loved and found intriguing about this book was it didn't have a stereotypical hero, in fact I did not like the male character in this book at first though parts of me thought there was more to Blake than meets the eye.

Talk about a wild ride though, and I don't mean in a bad way either. But there are parts that even have me wincing. Sonja does a wonderful job with description to bring on that effect with me.Thoug

Mojo Queen Roxanne gets dragged into a situation involving a demon possessing a young girl. She realizes the situation is bigger than she can handle, but does that stop her?

Nope.

She's a tough girl who doesn't let anything get in her way, even hellhounds.

At a mere 123 pages, this book definitely kept me on my toes. It felt like the characters had just barely begun to relax when something

I love stories with quirky, flawed characters and Mojo Queen fit that perfectly.
Roxie's a wonderfully unusual heroine, gift with magic but still very much learning how to use it, tempered with compassion and when needed, courage.
Her "cousin" Daniel is her greatest supporter, and a complex character as well with a long, complicated history. Both outcasts of their family, they have a unique relationship.
I think my favorite was Blake, though I can't call him a traditional hero, he was unlike any I'

Sonya Clark discovered she was a writer at the age of thirteen. Ray Bradbury whispered it to her through the pages of his books. The Vampire Lestat encouraged this lunacy in florid fashion, and Pennywise the Clown muttered dire warnings of what would happen should she neglect her calling. It took many years – many, like, a lot, yo – for her to figure out how to actually finish a manuscript. Once s ...more
