I wrote it. I wanted to create a contemporary coming-of-age story using the oldest mythology in the world, the story of the first shaman, Geser. Years ago, I downloaded the Buryat Shamanist mythology and shoved it in a drawer. I found it later and decided to create a modern adventure fantasy from it. I was intrigued by the fact that a trainee shaman must undergo the Three Trials: a trial of the mind, a trial of the body and a trial of the spirit, or moral trial.
