First love and Greek myth. There's a lot happening here! The characters are wonderful. I loved Grace, and could relate to her confusion about her relationships. Ben is a little intense. I'm still trying to figure out why he has loved her forever. Josh is the sexy bad boy. I am hoping he'll get the girl in the next book in the series!

There is a lot of poetry throughout the novel which was interesting. There are hints about what is going to happen in the quatrain at the beginning of the chapter. I...more

I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend and I must say I'm glad I did! This book was exquisitely unique and had just the right amounts of action and romance to keep me intrigued through the book. The story features lesser known Greek Gods/Goddesses and the characters are well thought out and interesting. I read the free preview of the book and became so caught up in those first few chapters that I purchased the book instantly and read it in 2 sittings (it would have been one if not...more

POSITIVE:

the book is nicely done. i like the way how each chapter starts. it begins with the title, greek mythology related to whats happening in the current chapter then followed by the story itself. i like the way the book conveys feelings and emotion thus feeling it with the heroine (Grace) herself. it makes you understand what she's going thru. i admire the transition of grace's feelings for all three guys (ben, lloyd, josh) in the book until she realized who she really wants to be with. i e...more

I absolutely loved this book. The characters are amazingly in-depth. I flew through the pages and I'm intensely sad that its over. I cannot wait until the next book. The Greek Gods and Goddesses in this book are ones that haven't been featured prominently. The descriptions were spot on. I felt as if I was in this story myself. The love story is one that has been done before, but I felt as though I've never read a love story at all. With all the mythological loves stories hitting the shelves rece...more

First of all, I know many people could be put off that Grace Awakening is compared to Twilight. I have to say- I don't really find them comparable. They are both excellent books, but beyond the fact that they are urban fantasy set in a high school, they really don't have a great deal in common. I would compare Grace Awakening more with The Godess Test, Falling Under, or Sweet Venom. Mythology runs deep throughout this book. I love that the author doesn't explain who each god and godess is. Ther...more

Just another band geek in a plaid shirt to pass in the halls. Until the music started.

Grace is in grade 10 when she meets Ben Butler, who is two years older than her and convinced he's loved her forever. After they meet, Grace is the target of mysterious attempts on her life, has frequent trips to the hospital to have some secret medicine, and overhears her mother talking to her aunt about her in a strange fashion. Her parents and even her friends seem torn between liking and disliking Ben, but...more

When first approached about this book, I was nervous. When anything is described as similar to Twilight, I have to fight the urge to vomit. The author assured me it wasn’t really a paranormal romance. I decided to trust her because my love of Percy Jackson took over.

Yeah, definitely not like Twilight. I like Grace. I LOVED that she realized that having a guy pine after you, chase you, and claim to love you after just meeting is creepy. THANK YOU, we finally have an intelligent, normal female for...more

Well what can i say,i was really looking forward to reading this book from what i read about it,even though the cover of the book is very boring.Usually i read a book and finish it the same day,im a book addict, what can i say,but this book bored me to tears,i kept thinking maybe it will get better,so i persevered, but sadly it didnt.I cannot say one good thing about it,the plot, the characters, were terrible.

Greek Mythology is a favourite of mine and this book was great!

Grace is the main character of this book and it seems she is in the middle of a god/goddess war. Of course, she doesn't know it. Strange things are happening in her life and there are boys. The romantic side of this book seemed realistic - she found Ben to be creepy and kept away as a sane normal person would do. I found this very refreshing!

The poetry at the beginning of each chapter is lovely, although I must admit it did slightly...more

I love being on Goodreads.com and reading to the responses to my work! I have been impressed by some astute observations, and some of those reviewers have been invited to become beta readers for future work.

If you're trying to figure out the mythology that Grace doesn't understand, be sure to pay attention to the Greek myths referenced in the quatrains at the beginning of each chapter. These show the significance of Grace's adventures in a mythical realm. There's a glossary at the back to help...more

I love this story! I devoured it so fast, that when I was done, I was annoyed that I didn't savour it! Eagerly waiting for the next part... but in the meantime I shall read it again, slower this time!

Everything was great until the ending. There was no resolution, so the ending was a flop for me. Otherwise, this book was good.

This book was ok. I found Grace sort of annoying as well as that Josh guy. My favorite character was Ben and Christie. Decent story though. I will probably read the second book.

Grace Awakening (ebook)

One summer day, 10 year old Shawn met a teen-aged musician who lived across the alley. He made her giggle and glow. His melodies made her dizzy. She dreamed. She imagined. She wrote a lot of poetry.

One day many years later, Grace appeared upon Shawn's keyboard, wanting to tell her story. Shawn recognised many familiar feelings from her own musical first love, and as Grace's narrative unfolded and...more
