I have read a lot of environmental science books in my life, but this one is one of the most interesting that I have read in a long time. I thought this book was going to be another doom and gloom book, which it kind of was, but realistically things aren't looking all that good for a lot of ecosystems (and he REALLY loves the natural world), so that's expected.

The part I liked about this book was that he mixed in the doom and gloom with the science behind it, and the fact that ecosystems change

In my view, "Our Dying Planet" is the perfect book for someone who appreciates the scientific perspective and wants to learn the state of ecological understanding about our relationship with the natural world.

The author knows his stuff but for me this was kind of a book about coral reefs. They're important obviously but there is only so much I want to know about them. More interested in the planetary level as a whole.

What is really interesting about it is that in chapter 5, Sale describes something like prospect theory without suggesting that he is aware of Kahneman and Tversky's work, and bases his theory on physiology and evolutionary factors. Though prospect theory is not really new, it is entirel
