this may have been one of the most emotionally devastating books i've ever read- to watch the development of the atoms, from protons to neutrons and discover their functions and reactions, over an extensive period.. that there is an experience like no other.
right now, my head is swimming with calculations and equations and acronyms (OILRIG! MASH! CAWS COD!) from which i fear i may never recover. alas, i must say that this knowledge will stay with me forever... against my will. i shall be forever burdened with the involuntary realisation that acid and alkalis are neutralisation reactions, that chloride forms a white precipitate, that the number of moles is the mass divided by the atomic mass... i'll never be free. never. i do not want to ever think of chemistry ever again. and im not even bad at it. it just sucks that hard.
if you look closely within the pages of this novel, you will indubitably find the tears of hundreds of students, all forced into STEM. i can say that the collective experience of all those who have read this book is one of blood, sweat, and late nights hopped up on dangerous amounts of caffeine trying to understand wtf the writers are on about. the overly complicated prose seriously slowed down my torturous experience: imagine a painful, and drawn out, suffering which felt neverending in the moment. the plot twist at the end- the one where all the little orange boxes i ignored turned out to have vital information in them- genuinely why would you put essential info in tiny boxes- was truly shocking, but completely insatistfying and, i'd say, one of the most frustrating things i've been through in my entire academic career.
overall, i can 100% say that this book is one of the worst i've ever had to go through. my only highlight was maybe the font. big font fan.
Concepts are very clearly explained and in a the easiest way.The chapters are kept short so it is not that difficult to finish it fast. The only problem I had with this book was the last three chapters. The concepts of those chapters were difficult so reading it was not a good experience though the author tried to explain it as easily as possible.I would highly recommend it as a book to build your concepts. After reading this book, you will find it easier to read your syllabus's Chemistry books.
