Parts of this were great and parts just decent. It struck me as a bit uneven. The ending is nicely done, but I don't like getting to the end of a mystery and realizing I had already guessed many parts of the solution. Still, it was a really enjoyable read and sometimes authors have an uneven book, so I'll probably try another.

I really enjoyed this. The main character is half indian, half white sheriff in a small town heavily populated by cherokee indias. Set up is similar to Hillerman. He has a teen age daughter and his wife recently passed of cancer.
I look forward to reading more of her work.
Great sense of place.

Not great. Not terrible. I got it in a big box of books at the book fair for $10 total. Worth the price.
