I told myself that I'd never read another Magic Tree House book, but when my 7-year-old son asked me to read this one, I couldn't turn him down.

And it wasn't horrible. It wasn't great, but I didn't feel like it was insulting the reader's intelligence in any way. (I have some patience with authors who insult my intelligence. Insulting children's intelligence, however, is another matter.)

This was the first Magic Tree House book that I read where I could feel the "an...more

The Magic Treehouse series by Mary Pope Osborne appeal to the imaginative reader. The adventures that Jack and Annie, the brother, sister duo, emabark on are never short of excitement. The magic treehouse transfers Jack and Annie into the future or back through time, where they generally are time warpped into curious worlds and get themselves into some sort of predicament. Primary students will feel very grown-up reading a chapter book, albeit it's mid-late second grade reading level. In an era ...more

Generally I like these books a lot and so do my kids.
I do have to point out that the author was incorrect in her description of how gravity works on the moon. The children only feel low gravity while outside the moon base...this is wrong. It's worse that there is an explanation given as to why they feel normal while in the moon base (it is said that the air pressure gives them their normal weight. Not so. They would feel the same 1/6th gravity whether inside (with air) or outside (without...more

This is book eight in The Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne.
Annie wakes her brother Jack up in the middle of the night. She wants to go to the Tree House. They have one last thing to find in order to help Morgan. Even though he wants to sleep Jack gets up and goes with Annie.
There is one open book when they arrive. It is called "Hello Moon". The siblings are off on the best adventure yet. They are headed to the Moon!

My 4 yo and I are enjoying these short early chapter books. There is just enough adventure and danger to make a good story he can follow, as well as enough for me to enjoy. The bonus is these are "edutainment," so we both learn a few new facts. My son really enjoyed this MTH book-- He loves space and this gives an interesting aspect, as the kids visit the future. Also check out the non-fiction companion book Space by the same author. Books 5-8 are part of the same story arc.

My generic review for the Magic Tree House books -

We've loved them all so far. They are fun, easy to read and contain quite a bit of historical information. We use them as read-alouds, but most elementary/middle school kids could read them on their own.

It does have a touch of 'girl power' at the expense of making the brother seem a little dumb. That kinda bugs. But it's not obvious and my boys haven't noticed. They think Jack is just as cool as his sister.

I loved this book! The sci-fi girl in me was very excited to visit the moon and to have my little guy exposed to this exciting adventure. One detail I enjoyed was when the kids left a "we were here" note. Can you imagine how surprised someone would be to find that on the moon? Funny.

I also like the way the kids are always appreciative of home after their adventures. In this case, Jack enjoyed all of the life and colors of the woods after the barrenness of the moon.

Summary- "Magic Tree House: Midnight on the Moon" was about Annie and Jack going to the moon to find an "M" object to help save the librarian from a spell.

Character trait- Annie is the main character and she is adventurous.

Most important event- Jack gave the astronaut a pencil and a notepad and he drew stars.

Recommendation- Anyone who likes adventure books should read "Magic Tree House: Midnight on the Moon".

This one was cool! Jack and Annie traveled forward in time to the year 2031. That year doesn't even exist yet! Also, the idea of going to the moon as a kid is a pretty exciting venture.

This is the last book involving the mouse, as it appears that Mary Pope Osbourne likes to do books in sets of 4.

When the year really is 2031, which will be in 20 years as of 2011, I wonder what will happen.

Another amazing book from the Magic Tree House series! Jack and Annie are sent on a mission to the moon - and must learn to bounce and walk properly on the moon if they have any hope of finding another missing piece to free Morgan the magician. Midnight on the Moon was very well-written and entertaining, and I recommend this to kids that love the fantasy genre.

This one is a little different from the others because it goes in to the future to a time when a space dome has been built on the moon. Therefore it is not a history book like the others. It is more science fiction.
However, there was interesting information about the moon. It did sort of feel like we were there, experiencing weightlessness and everything.

Jack and Annie have their first trip to the future in this installment of the popular series. They go to the moon, meet a spaceman and gain the final piece of the puzzle to solve the mystery set for them in book 5.

Does Morgan reappear? You bet she does because the series is well into the 30s now.

Jack and Annie go to the treehouse in the middle of the night and take the tree house to a future moon. They have all the items and the mouse. They go out and explore the moon and receive help from a strange man in a space suit. They then help the mouse transform back into Morgan. The spell was cast by Merlin and they needed three items and the moon to help get her back to herself.

This edition of the Magic Tree House was a bit weird, with them going to the moon, (sort of) meeting a "moon man," and finishing their quest to get 4 items to save Morgan le Fay. Our girls really enjoyed it, though, asking me to read "just one more chapter" over and over until we finished the book.

. Jack and Annie are whisked forty years forward in time and land at an international space station on the moon. There they don space suits and go exploring the lunar surface in search of the fourth object needed to free the enchantress Morgan le Fay from a powerful spell.

They didn't need to go on the moon cause they already all the things they needed to collect and they turned Morgan back from a mouse to a person. They went to the moon at midnight because if they didn't the spell wouldn't work.

Another book I read with my students. We were studying the moon and I decided to have them read this book. They all enjoyed it. There always seems to be some real facts about each of the topics the books are about.

Read with one of my students. He has the entire series and we read about 4 chapters each day I am with him which is Tuesday and Thursday. Great series for younger students to really start enjoying reading for fun.

It was about Morgan being turned into a mouse by a spell. So these kids named Jack and Annie freed Morgan from the spell and they had to get things from the future. I learned about outer space and constellations.

I'm obviously too old for these books, [I'm 16] but they're like a guilty pleasure. I'm rating it three stars because they are basic and repetitive. However, they're great books for little kids!
