The concept upon the book was based was pretty damn good. Unfaithful spouses die together and the two decent mourning widow and widower eventually hook up together.

Really though, it was not as hot as it sounds. It more went like:

- I've always wanted you.
- Oh really? I never realised!
- I want to do you and then marry you and adopt your dead unfaithful husband's and yours unborn child.
- Yes! Yes! Do me now please! I'll blow you in exchange.
- We're such wicked widowers!
- Yes, love, we are.

Okay, so I don’t know why everyone is giving this free short story such bad reviews. I actually really liked it. I gave it four stars because it was written very well and I love reading about the Victorian era. I love how they wear these massive gowns and how they are just so hard to get into. But never forget the chaperone that cannot leave you alone for one second so you have to run away and hide from their watchful eye. Ah, love it!

This short story is basically about two mourners who have los
This reminded me why I don't particularly like historical romance. The metaphors. The tropes. The imitation of complex grammatical constructions. It's damn hard to write a good story in this genre.

This short story tries too much; it's nothing more than a couple of lukewarm sex scenes with some weak plot in between. And, on a side note, there's nothing wicked in the characters' mourning. Nor in their intimate encounters.

This book was a waste of time. I'm not comfortable only giving it one star because it wasn't badly written or anything, it just seemed really pointless. The sex wasn't anything groundbreaking and it's a really short story. So short that you finish it and think, that's it?

But it's free on Amazon, so if you have a Kindle and twenty minutes free...
After reading the synopsis, it was my mistake on thinking that this was a real full-length historical erotica. To some extent, it was that, without the length. It's been a 2 days since I've read it, so I don't think I can write a decent summary, but even if I did, there really wasn't much to summarize - the synopsis says it all.

Overall, it was pretty decent for a free read, I guess, but I was disappointed so I cannot really recommend it to anyone who's looking for a real historical erotica. It w
I know this was a short, but I wanted a little more depth to the characters, a tad more information on the exes, and not to feel like I was left hanging in the end.
What a nice little surprise this book turned out to be. Historical read with a touch of erotica, nice!

An Aussie author too, excellent!

Set in Regency England, Wicked Mourning is a single moment in time for our hero and heroine. Reggie and Clara escaped to the country six months ago to avoid the scandal caused by their deceased partners, whose affair was discovered upon their death. However, Reggie and Clara have had enough of mourning and decide to find release in each other, away from the watchful eyes of Clara’s mother-in-law. Clara is also pregnant with her deceased husband’s baby…

Reggie was a great hero; caring, charming an
Okay I was expecting more than what this book actually was from the description. There was not any parts of this book that were wicked or anything. I was expecting an erotic regency book. But what this book is actually about is two people that have lost there spouse. Granted that there spouses were together and having an affair but it did not go into the affair. Nor did it have any wild romping sex scenes.

Maybe it is me but when someone puts erotic in the description of a book I expect somethin

Wicked Mourning by Heather Boyd is an erotic Regency romance. If Jane Austen wrote smut, this would be it, a saucy blend of clever banter and steamy sex.

Clara Blackstone is the pregnant widow of a philandering husband. She's been residing at the country estate of Reginald Moore, the widower whose wife was Mr. Blackstone's paramour. Clara and Reggie have maintained a platonic relationship for months, but their romantic feelings for each other are getting hard to ignore.

I enjoyed the rapport bet

So I found this in the pregnancy porn section, but it was also regency and it was also just a sweet little romance. How can you be three things in just 36 short pages you ask? Well, you can't really. I feel likeit should have focused on one thing and done it better. Still, it was good for such a short little thing.
This is a short story I found for free on Amazon. The only complaint I have is the description did not make out that this book was a historical romance, I do like reading those to but I was expecting a modern day theme and it took some adjusting. This is a short but passionate story, that has some humor thrown in the mix. Over all it was a good read
To me, there are three main aspects on a good story, independently of its length.
First the way it's written has to make me feel compelled to read it.
Unfortunately I find this is more about sexual encounters than the story of two distinctive people with distinctive selves, for in a story this short one hot sex scene would be enough.
Then it must not sound repetitive.
Again the sex scenes + the mentions towards their spouses' betrayal and the way they feel about her mother-in-law are described so m
It was a sweet intense love story of 2 people ..there was alot of feeling and emotion between them that was shown through their physical desires..Reggie was so tender and sweet towards Clara"I,m going to make love to you because ive loved you from the moment I saw you" so made my heart melt.It was short but well written ;-)..
A very short but wonderful sexy/erotic read. Friends, both mourning their unfaithful spouses become lovers. I will be looking for more from this author.
Nice ss, could have been a bit longer, but was nice nonetheless. Enjoyable for a freebie.
3.5 stars

Would've been better as a longer story. The ending felt entirely too fast.

Hot, sexy, sweet and delicious. A nice few chapters that will perk up your day :)
It was a short story. Romantic in language, just like the time it was set. I wouldn't be opposed to reading about the reaction of Old Mrs. Blackstone when she finds the two together, or how Reggie acts toward the birthing, like would he faint, be grossed out, all those comical scenarios.

Thanks Emma, for even mentioning this story. A good break from the longer ones.

Short and sweet. Very enjoyable SHORT story and worth the few minutes it took to read 32 pages.

Judging by some of the reviews, clearly some people don't read the synopsis and other details given regarding the books BEFORE they download it. And seriously, this was a free book, what is to bitch about?

This is a cute snapshot of life when two widowers had faithless spouses so they come together with tenderness and support in spite of scandal. He had been harboring a hidden crush and she needed physical attention with her emotional pregnant hormones. It works out for them both in the end.
Kay Bolton
It took only about 10 minutes to read this, which doesn't really seem like the effort was worth it.

As far as the writing goes, it ways okay ... just okay. I was left feeling that really with just a little bit of effort the actual plot could have been expanded to at least reach Novella proportions, rather than what I consider to be just a very short story.

Therefore a 3 star read, which has gone into my One Offs folder. That notwithstanding, I would probably read something longer by this author in
Too short

Too short

too short way to too short need more time to develop the characters in the story but its not too bad
Ok novella! Had a lot of potential but it fell short of my expectations... Sex scenes were kind of 'meh'... And what exactly did their spouses die from?!?!?
Shh I'm reading!
Pretty good for a short story. Sweet characters who give into their passion after a scandal involving their spouses.
Courtney Klein
Short quick read, but as is common with novellas, it needed one more chapter/epilogue.
This short story about two people who each have lost cheating spouses to death is lacking in both the eroticism as it seems to be like that impending orgasm...when will it finally explode? If looking for romance again it seems to go this way as Reggie longs for Clara even as she is carrying her late husband's child. But this is not fully described or fulfilled either. The solution would be to lengthen this story to a novel with full character and story development. It doesn't rate a poor review ...more

One moment in time for these two characters, Reginald and Clara. Neither of them very emotionally attached to their dead spouses, who betrayed them with each other. They finally admit their feelings for one another and succumb to them in a passionate act of love. Promises are made, happiness to their upcoming new lives is felt. Very short story, but sweet with the right amount of sexual tension.

Picked it up for Free on Amazon. Pleasant 30 minutes reading time in the car as I waited for my own be
Short, sweet and free!!!
The story was short and offered a rambling, rushed storyline. We barely get to know who they are, their relationship to each other and how they got to where they are currently before they're jumping into bed with each other. I feel as though the author was either uncomfortable or unsure while writing the sex scenes. They felt forced and the descriptions felt contrived and were laden with sappy dialogue. There were brief periods of promise in the authors writing, but not enough to make me enjoy t ...more
