When I was a little girl I always dreamt of being a mermaid, as a teenager I wondered how mermaids had sex and now as an adult I still wonder. When I saw the title of this book I kn...more

Laneigh was running out of time. Judging by the continuous onset of pain, and what she had seen happen to her Queen, she knew she had very little time left. She needed to get on the ocean, without actually touching it, and try to contact Sylarus. Sylarus, the very Mer who had betrayed her, yet had given her the most precious gift in her life. The Mer who at one time, had been solely responsible for the steady beating of her heart. Would he come? She hadn’t seen him since her banishment nearly te...more

Return to the Sea is a short story that fills your heart with hope and love. This is a very emotional story; that will pull at every mother’s heartstrings.

Ms. Royce draws you in with the story of a dying mother and young daughter. Laneigh is so believable you feel, and cry along with her as she puts others before herself. She is strong and shows that she can stand on her own. Having been banished from her li...more

My Rating: 3 stars: Liked it, but I had some issues - recommend(B)

The story opens with Laneigh standing on a cruise ship, looking out into the ocean depths, knowing that Sylarus is near. When she feels her former lover magically appear behind her, she dreads facing him to tell him what’s been going on for the past decade while she has been banished to dry land. Laneigh is a mermaid and Sylarus’s father, King of the Mer people, has forbid Laneigh to return to the sea. What Sylarus doesn’t know is...more

Like all other Rebecca Royce stories that I've read, I really enjoyed Return to the Sea. But unlike the others, I really didn't like the hero in the beginning. He really rubbed me the wrong way as he didn't seem strong - physically yes, but mentally and emotionally - no. He couldn't think for himself, believing in tradition over all else, including love.

I knew it would take something drastic to open his eyes, and Rebecca provided.

Sylarus goes through some huge character growth when he is reunite...more
Siren's Song
The first few chapters I had to literally fight back the tears. The author did a superb job in expressing the emotional turmoil throughout the entire story. There are a lot of ups and downs. The images were vivid and Laneigh was a completely believable and lovable character. She fought for what she believed in and put the lives of others before her own. She took a lot of gambles throughout this story but they end up paying off big time in the end. I loved this book! I am still amazed at the amou...more

Biggest waste of time.

I was lucky to have a friend who was willing to kindle loan this to me but I'm also sad to say that I did not like it. It just felt morbidly unfinished and incomplete.

I'm so so disappointed. :(
