I was very interested in reading this book since I grew up at the same time as Ms. Findling. I enjoyed the individual essays that were written from her perspective of growing up during that time. She has a very casual writing style that makes you feel connected to her. I found myself thinking back to the time-frame of each story to see if I could remember what I was doing at that time. All in all, a very good read. I am looking forward to following her career as she develops as an author.

It seems like an autobiographical tale of one young woman who grow up on the coast, attends UO, works in Portland and finally finds herself & love in Bend Oregon. While most of the places are familiar & I share the writers love of hiking and the outdoors, I found the book jerky in both style and story. However it ended making a point, the solution of one young woman's search for happiness and meaning in life.
