F. Anstey is remembered, if at all, for a series of comic fantasy novels and short stories, body swaps, living statues, genies in bottles etc. these perhaps sound like children's books but they were aimed at a more adult audience, which at the time made them different. So Only Toys is perhaps slightly less interesting as it is a children's book, Two children, who are aren't interested in their toys are sent by Santa Claus to live with them, initially they find them foolish, but when Santa ...more

Thomas Anstey Guthrie (8 August 1856 - 10 March 1934), was an English novelist and journalist, who wrote his comic novels under the pseudonym F. Anstey.
