I read this for Lucy since no one else had reviewed it...

This book will not be for everyone! That said it is not nearly as bad as the blurb makes it seem or made me worry it might be

This book is fiction but it was mostly realistic and detailed in its subject matter, with some fiction "that would never happen" and "he would never do that" type of things. Yes some parts made me extremely uncomfortable but they were short and overly quickly. Nothing sexual happens to the young boys during the curre...more

I normally stay away from books like Captive Lover, but this was one book I was drawn to. I was not expecting this book to be as sweet and romantic as it was. But, that is exactly what this book was. It was also dark and twisted and had a very tough subject matter at the core of the book.

Dylan and Conner's relationship in this melted my heart. I was surprised at the way they become a couple so easily. The insta-love was so well done and both men were so wonderful and beautiful I really believed...more

Dylan Yates is a good guy. He works hard, is raising his little brother Jared after their parents' deaths, and tries to save a little time for himself amidst all the pressures of his life.

Connor Black is a handsome young man, son of a wealthy family. He is out for a little fun.

When Dylan meets Marcus Tucker, his initial attraction turns sour when he sees the sexy mask slip and the ugliness underneath surface. What starts as a quick one night stand goes south, Dylan bails, and thinks, that's that...more

I tried, I really did, struggled, but then just couldn't waste any more eye ball rolling on this one. This is my very first DNF in the wonderfully widely varied M/M world. Did. Not. Finish. It's not even just 'eh, didn't finish', it's more like CNF: could. not. finish. I stopped at 47%.
I don't like it at all that this is the case and allow me to explain. I'm going to spoiler tag some because I don't want to ruin anyone else's read if you end up giving it a go and liking it.

An unrealistically por...more

Another fantastic book from Patricia Logan. I have read some of her previous books and know that she is not afraid to include violence in her books so when this one starts with the kidnapping of a child all my mothering instincts kicked into overdrive and I spent most of the book reading on the edge of my seat not knowing what would happen. Marcus, the bad guy, is a real slime ball and against this you have Dylan and Conner who are both kind of innocent, struggling to find a way out of their sit...more

Interesting captive story with two gorgeous mcs. Excellent story.
A Voracious Reader (a.k.a. Carol)
After running his own construction company and raising his much younger brother, Dylan Yates just wanted to go out for a drink and maybe hook up with a guy for some steamy lovin’. Unfortunately, he picked the wrong guy to pick up and his life spiraled out of control.

Marcus Tucker has secrets to keep hidden and he’s worried Dylan will spill the beans to authorities with what he’s seen at Marcus’s house. He decides if he makes Dylan fall into line by kidnapping a local guy, Connor Black, for rans...more

NOTE: the 2 stars are for what I managed to read - and feel strongly enough to want to rate it despite the DNF result.

I don't know whether it's just this particular publisher, or the author this time, but this is my 2nd purchase from Rebel Ink Press that makes me suspect this publisher releases its books without any editing. I can't remember the title of the first book* but I instantly recalled the publisher when I was posting this review. While CL is not as bad as my earlier purchase, it still...more

I picked this one up because I found it under captive, dub-con and out-of-comfort-zone bookshelves and for that reason I was expecting a MUCH darker read.

The books is super clean to be honest. Yes they have a lot sex but there is no on page rape, no torture and no real violence. Yelling and screaming seem to be the extent of the violence in this one.

Connor ever hear of STRANGER DANGER. Just cause Dylan was a hot strapping man doesn't mean you had to go ahead and get yourself kidnapped so easi...more

As a huge Patricia Logan fan, I was overjoyed to read the news on her new series, focusing on Westburg, Texas, an important setting or part of back story for quite a few of her characters. And yes, as a fan, I was given the trigger warning by Patricia herself, as I'm a survivor of some horrible things. Even having an idea of what the book was about didn't detract from my enjoyment of her descriptive, emotive story. Dmitri's story had my heart in my throat as I dove into this story; Marcus is the...more

I think this will be my first declared DNF book. I started reading it last night, and it bothered me quite a bit. Picking it up again at lunch didn't improve the uneasiness. The subject matter is tough, but I've actually read worst. This book only hints at what will/might/does happen and doesn't get into details where the young boys are concerned.

However, what did bother me is how absolutely stupid Dylan is. I understand it's to put him in the position of being blackmailed in the manner he was,...more

This one tugged desperately on my heartstrings so bad I think I cried through a bit of the book but smiled through most. Dylan and Conner are so sweet, their relationship so loving that even the darker aspects of the story were swept away during the pages they showed their love for one another.

Marcus...well I could spout expletives all day long let's keep it at that.

Patricia Logan can write a story, I knew that from the others I have read but this one is different in that it's hard to read at...more

this is hard to read but i'm glad in read it..Connor and Dylan were sweet.....Without going into too much detail you knew what Dimitri had gone through and i hope he gets his own HEA eventually which i'm sure he will x
