I started reading the first book because it was free on my brand new kobo reader. I was excited and I very happy to see that I could download books for free. I should have known better, what you pay is what you get. I got the rest of the series, as the first book was obviously not finished, even though it ended... I hate not finishing books, but I'm struggling this time. The more I read, the harder I find it to go on.
Caitlin is simply put, a huge drama queen. She's 18, yet she doesn't act like o

While I like the STORY of this series, the writing style is really getting on my nerves. There is a ton of really forced cliff-hanger chapter endings that are just unnecessary. And I'm sick and tired of Caitlin completely overreacting to every single thing that happens with Caleb and/or Blake. How anyone who has survived centuries could have any patience for her 15 year old girl drama (yes, i know she's older, but she doesn't act it) is beyond me.

All that being said, the story is interesting, an
Same as book 4 just different time and place

Before my review I'll just say that I read this over a year ago but never intended to review, I'm only doing so now since this is being pushed on bookbub and I don't want you to make the same mistake I did, I bought all the books through to and including 8, saved them up and read them together, if you're enjoying this series take my advice and buy them one at a time.
This is literally the same book as the last one and for that matter the one before that
I read the first book in this series due to the price, it was only $0.99 on B&N for Ipad. I should have have stopped there and saved myself the cash. The author is re-hashing the story line over and over again. Also, the characters are fickle. Every time something happens it's "the best I've ever known" how can everything out there be the best of your life? This rose is the best smelling rose I have ever smelled, this water is the clearest I've ever seen, this weapon sparkles more than any o ...more
Finished this book last night. One thing I like about the book is that it doesn't rehash everything that happened in the last books in the first chapter, it just dives right in.
While I enjoy the story itself, there are flaws in character development. Caitlin overreacts constantly, complete drama queen. It is rather irritating.

The other thing that gets on my nerves about this entire series is the words. I'm not sure if it's just the e-book version, or if the editor sucks that bad. There were wor
Really good, each book comes better and better. Im really hooked up in this story. Really love it, I cant wait to read Caitlins father description, Im so intrigued as how are they going to be reunited, it seems, I will have to wait till the next book for that . Really cant wait!!! ...more
Desired (Book #5 in the Vampire Journals) was another fantastic installment to a wonderful series. Desired has Caitlin in 1789 Paris. She is on a mission to find her father, the Shield and four keys. Caitlin is tired and just wants to spend the rest of her life with Caleb. She thinks that she has found her perfect ending, when someone from Caleb's past shows up and ruins everything. Caitlin decides that she must fulfill her destiny by finding her father. Her brother Sam finds himself in the wood ...more

I went thru the last book really quick wanting to get this part of story only because it does start with Caitlin and Caleb being together. They are brought to now 1789 Rome. Caitlin on cloud nine being with Caleb and wanting to have some form of normally for at least a while. Caleb meanwhile is happy to be with Caitlin but deep down is mourning for his son. Sam has made it thru the time travel along with Kyle. Sam is here to help his sister find their father and Kyle well he is Kyle always causi ...more
Another good addition to the series. The story is continuing with the search for the Shield and Caitlin's father.

Caitlin again travels back in time in search for her father and the ever elusive Shield that will save all Vampires. Caitlin has gone back a couple years to 1789. She finds Caleb and everything seems perfect until Caleb receives a message. Off he goes and Caitlin is left alone and hurting.

Caitlin begins the search again and off on another treasure hunt. Going from beautiful church and

I'm just going to quote my review of the first book in this series

This book was: simple; which is so tragic because it could have been so much better.
The plot had: potential... but didn't find the right key to success.

The beginning was: intriguing.
The middle was: so-so.
The crescendo was: nice.
The finish/ending was: great.

The characters were: good; but they all could have improved and put on a little polish in my opinion.
The worldbuilding was: too much, yet at the same time, too little. The wor

The first 3/4 of this book is nearly identical to Volume 4 except in this case the year is 1789 and they are in Paris instead of Venice. We have Caitlin and Caleb together but Caleb leaving Caitlin after he hears from his wife Sera that his son Jade is alive. Caitlin of course completely overreatcts thinking tha Caleb is still in love with Sera. As a result, she gets her rear in gear and proceeds to attempt to complete her mission. The action does pick up in the last 1/4 of the book as she follo ...more

This book is just a hot mess of writing. I had been hoping the series would get better as you go along, but it's really just getting worse.

From huge plot holes - going back in time to a different country, but not knowing the language, with no mention of how they automatically learn how to communicate; the use of materials (titanium) for thousands of years before it was even discovered. To just a totally unlikable and overall bratty main character - I had to force myself to finish this book.

This female is really starting to grate my cheese! She is soooo hung up on men! She's too busy doing things to make men happy and not worrying about herself. Always fearful that her boyfriend is going to leave her, or that she's going to disappoint her mentor, or her father won't love her if she gives up this mission. She's worried her lil bro hates her & that this other guy doesn't remember her. Get a life hefa! You need to figure out who you want to be. Who you are and spend less time worr ...more

The overall story line is interesting, and I do want to continue reading the rest of the series so I can fully get the story. However, the amount of typos/missing words/using wrong names is really getting to be annoying. That is the reason why I have given this book three stars instead of four. It would be five if there was not as much repeating of phrases such as "this time and place" and the general repeating of the plot line. If we just read something in the same book, it is not necessary to ...more

I still like the series, but Caitlin is getting on my nerves. The decisions she makes as well as how she ALWAYS jumps to the wrong conclusion. How am I suppose to believe that she is supposed to be the person that helps all vampire kind? REALLY??? I hope the next book changes her more!!

Seriously irritating to keep dragging this story out in book after book! And now they are all ending the same way with cliffhangers- none of them good as a stand-alone read. Too short to be broken up into so many books but I guess that's how they get more $$ out of the readers!

i absolutely loved this book!!i cant wait for the next book!!
Can't wait to read the next one!!! Soooo intriguing
bought it and so far its really good
It was okay, Caitlin searching for her father with the help of her brother Sam and lover Caleb. It looks like she's found the 2nd key in the four she must collect which will finally bring her face to face with her father whom she does not know but very much wants to meet because both her and brother are the key to helping their race. But meanwhile Kyle the bad vamp is on their trail trying to intercept to kill them. This story was just okay because I felt that Caitlin and her brother were making ...more
The best yet! This has alot of excitement. Though Caleb still keeps making mistakes.

Cailin, with Aiden's help, may have finally learned to control her emotions, but then again maybe not. She has learned a new talent 'ala Yoda', which is cool.

Caleb also may be learning what really important in his life. The idyllic time two of them have at his castle were very sweet but too short.

Sam & Polly get off track, but it's not entirely their fault. We see old enemies and get several new ones. Some st

This one was okay

The plot thickens as Caitlan is transferred back in time and she searches for Caleb. I liked the book I just felt at times it went too fast.

I am on edge waiting for the 6th book to come out now! The first book in the series was not really my cup of tea, but it was cheap and a quick read that kept me busy for about an hour. It wasn't well written, and had a lot of errors, but as each book progressed, the characters became more in depth, the details and imagery gets increasingly better, and the historical elements tied into the novels are great, not only for some background thinking but also for reference to a more full image in your ...more

They just keep getting better, the story keeps getting more intriguing. I can not wait to start the next book.
I do love a good vampire series. However I'm taking a break from this series after this book. As much as I want to know what happens, it seems like the same story repeating itself over and over again. So I'll come back to it.
I liked the stories, but the constant grammar, syntax, and spelling errors make them hard to get through.

Would have given another star if not for all the editorial errors.
Couldn't finish. I just didn't care what happened.
