Starred Review, Publishers Weekly: "Superior science fiction thriller. . . . Boland's taut atmospherics are top-notch, and the evolutionary themes he explores are easily accessible to nonscientists." Really enjoyed this. Picked it up by accident. I was attempting to join a speculative fiction book club at the time. The book club was reading Hominid. I thought was this Hominid but it was another book entirely. Never made it to the meeting but I did like John C. Boland's novel.
Interesting. Didn't go exactly where I expected it to, but had elements of archaeology and science that alway interest me - I won't go into explicit detail as it would be spoilery. A little preachy, I never got fully engaged in the characters (story kept me reading), and the plotting was not handled as tightly as it could have been. Enjoyable, solid 3 stars.

Interesting tale of evolution. Archeologists and genetic scientists using up to date science.
