As expected, this book is insulting. this author has clearly never lived with anyone with ADD. This is not just a disciplinary problem; we are not just poor parents. His tirade against the drugs used to treat ADD gives me pause...yes, they include drugs from the amphetamine family, but as with many medical treatments, risks vs. benefits must be carefully weighed. I deem it far preferable to dose a child or adult with a stimulant than to have them think for the rest of their life that they are st ...more

I particularly liked the concrete strategies for how to set up and use time-out. Much more effective than what we had previously been doing. The behavioral approach works for all kids, not just the ADD/ ADHD ones.
