Buckle your seatbelt for this one -- and you might want to grab a Kevlar vest as well -- because DiAnn Mills will have you hanging on for dear life in this adrenaline-laced thriller! Kariss Walker shatters FBI Agent Tigo Harris' stereotype of women authors as she goes toe-to-toe with him to research the cold case of Cherished Doe, the unidentified baby found dead and discarded five years ago. Based on a real cold case from Houston's own FBI files, DiAnn Mills plunges the reader into the world of...more

Kariss Walker is bold and adventurous in more ways than one. Kariss is a New York Times best selling author whose agent is opposed to her writing her first suspense novel. She will even go as terminating her contract with her agency if she does not stick to the prescribed genre she is famous for. But, five years ago an unidentified little girl was found murdered and starved to death in the woods. Imagine a parent so cruel as to do this to a young child and the killer not caught. This case really...more

Kariss Walker has seen the worst of the worst when it comes to crimes as a TV news anchor. Some of those crimes unfortunately never got solved and one in fact continues to haunt her dreams, one called Cherish Doe. A young girl who was found starved and left to die in the woods behind a Houston apartment complex, has never been solved. Now Kariss has decided to change career paths and become New York Times best selling fiction author. But the nightmares continue to haunt her.

DiAnn Mills - The Chase, is what I'd describer is a suspense thriller. I'll be honest, I do not like these type of books. I usually can never get into them because I know what is what before it even happens. I rarely watch movies/tv because of my reading into things. I feel as if I ruin them by doing this.

The Chase is about Kariss and Tigo. Kariss is an ex tv station reporter and Tigo is a special agent with the FBI. Kariss, since she left the TV news world has been a novelist writing womens fic...more

In The Chase we meet FBI agent Tigo Harris and women's fiction author Kariss Walker.

Kariss wants to write something different than women's fiction. She has set her mind on writing a suspense novel about a cold case about a girl who was starved to dead 5 years ago. An old friend with the FBI arranges for Kariss to work with FBI agent Tigo. At first the two don't like each other very well, but through the story they start to respect each other.

We get to read a lot about the character's family life...more

DiAnn Mills in her new book, “The Chase” Book One in the Crime Scene: Houston series published by Zondervan introduces us to Kariss Walker and Tigo Harris.

From the back cover: To the FBI it’s a cold case. To Kariss Walker it’s a hot story… A story that needs to be told. And it’s a burning mission to revisit an event she can never forget.

Five years ago, an unidentified little girl was found starved to death in the woods behind a Houston Apartment complex. A TV news anchor at the time, Kariss repo...more

Diann Mills has another hit on her hands! The Chase is a fast moving, mind bending race from start to finish. Kariss Walker is a NYT Bestselling author of woman's fiction (I think of a female Nicholas Sparks) who has a raging desire to write a mystery/suspense novel based on a cold case that she reported on when she worked at a tv station. She ends up burning bridges with all of her women's fiction connections and she dives into following an FBI agent as they get the case "Cherished Doe" reopene...more

This book was really hard for me to get into. It started off slow and dry. It was very repetitive, the same information about gun running was repeated multiple times. I also didn't feel the main characters had unique voices, I would read dialogue between the two main characters and get confused as to who said what.

That said, I trudged through it and in the second half of the book the pace did pick up. It did have a finale with a lot of action, but at that point I wasn't really invested in the c...more

Loved this book. As a matter of fact, this is the second time I've read this book and I enjoyed it even more the second time around. As with all books of this genre I read, it had all the critical elements. The suspense, romance and spirtuality were magnificient. There were several different suspenseful happenings in this book, which made it a real page turner. It also dealt with the issue of being raised in church and letting your faith drift to the side. I loved how the author developed the st...more

This is the second book that I have read by this author, and it was just as fun as the first.

It was an fun and entertaining look into the life of an author researching a book, kept me interested throughout the book. It moved at a good pace without keeping me up all night reading (a problem I've been known to have).

As with the last book of hers that I read, the character development was well woven into the story. The characters wove together to make a good story from beginning to end. The interac...more

To the FBI, it's a cold case. To Kariss Walker, it's the case that could change her writing career.

Five years ago, an unidentified little girl was found starved to death behind a Houston apartment complex. A news anchor at the time, Kariss reported on the case.

Today, Kariss, a New York Times Bestselling author, plans to turn the unsolved case into a suspense novel. With the help of an FBI friend, Kariss is assigned to Special Agent Tigo Harris, who later gets the case reopened.

Houston's area FBI agent Tigo has been working undercover on a very dangerous case involving gangs, sex trafficking, drugs, and gun smuggling. However, his case becomes even more dangerous when a female writer named Kariss shadows him and gathers research for a suspense novel she hopes to write.

This story was another well-written suspense novel by DiAnn Mills! I love how her suspense novels have a clear Christian message to its readers, this one being in my mind to cling to God to carry us throu...more

Wow! I LOVED this book! From the beginning it was interesting, entertaining, and suspenseful! Since The Chase contained some truths to an actual FBI-solved cold case, the entire story was so believable!

Kariss Walker is a New York Times bestselling author, but instead of writing another women's fiction novel, she wants to write a suspense about the cold case of "Cherished Doe." While researching for the novel, she gets in a lot of danger and m...more

I, as a reader, got the distinct sense with “The Chase”, how dangerous our streets…and our world has become. But how hope in Christ completely saves us from such sin.

Drug cartels, a small child’s safety, and the conviction and career of one novelist ride on the line in this novel. There were several different angles to the story and the plot and suspense of each moment. Often times I felt my attention was torn in different directions and left me a bit scattered. Other moments the plot was clear...more

I picked up this story because it involves solving a cold case. But that was only a thread of the story, the one that put the hero and heroine together. The immediacy of FBI agent Tigo Harris' current case is what kept driving the story between him and author Kariss Walker. Attraction weaves between them as his case and her chasing story take them through their jobs and their growing romance.

A book I paid for, for my Kindle (albeit, a good discounted price). I had read other books by this author and really enjoyed them, and this one was no different. Modern case set in Houston, about a woman who writes women's fiction (romance) type books, who used to be a television reporter in the Houston area. She works with the FBI and one agent in particular, to open a cold case and try to find out who starved a child years ago. The plot criss-crosses with the FBI agent's other big case and has...more

I wasn't a fan of the reader on this book, might have liked it better in print. Good story of a woman that wants to help solve a cold case of a murdered little girl. There are car chases, gun fights, fist fights and Word games. Not a heavy faith based story. The "love story" part of the story is minimal. I liked the characters and the interconnecting story lines.

This novel had a great overall story line but the romance between Tigo and Kariss fell seriously flat. It seemed to be a total afterthought, practically nonexistent and then suddenly poorly thrown in which surprised me because Mills has done better than this previously. The story line was decent though and it's still a nice read.

Really loved this book. It was honest, with characters that I had to grow to like. There were no easy, instant resolutions. The heroine/hero relationship is definitely a work in progress. I am looking forward to book 2 in the series.

This was the first time I'd downloaded a book to listen to from audible.com. The book was good, but it seemed slow listening to it on my phone. I would have enjoyed the suspense more if I'd read it rather than listened to it.
Carol
Very entertaining. A fast moving read with characters that blend together as their adventure progresses. This was the first book I
read of DiAnn Mills and definitely will be reading more

I really enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the next book in this series. The characters were very interesting and very believable. My daughter saw the bbok while I was reading it and wanted to read it too so am passing the book onto her.
Susan
Super heavy drama with no humor at all. I dought I'll remember this one for more than 3 days, it's very forgetable.
