My free story for the M/M Romance group's "Hot Summer Days" event.

The biggest case of Eddie’s career and nothing’s going right. He’s stuck in a stifling courtroom with the air conditioning on the fritz during the worst heat wave in years, and the judge has denied his latest motion. He just wants to spend a quiet night celebrating with his partner, Mike, on their fifteenth anniversary.

But Mike has a surprise in mind this year. A surprise that may be more than Eddie imagined possible.

What I like about Sloan Parker is her exceptional writing style….words just flow so well, her character development is really great and I do like her choice of subjects that she brings into her books. One of the reasons I love this author’s stories is her BEAUTIFUL writing, which is evident in this short story of a couple together for 15 years and doing something to keep the excitement in the relationship.

I loved this.... the only thing I'm wondering is... did Eddie win his court case? Oh, and how did the remodel go for Mike? And I'd like to hear how these two met? Oh, my, guess it wasn't the only thing I was wondering about :)

This is a cute and sweet story about a couple that really needs a change of pace. And it just so happens, that both men realize it, not just one of them. Mike and Eddie have been together for fifteen years; I had thought that this was going to be a drama filled "break up to make up" story that ended on the anniversary. But, surprisingly, Mike was aware of the issues and proceeded to do what he needed to do to keep Eddie a "happy honey." Eddie was a very lucky kind of guy; but then, so was Mike....more

Ms. Parker did it to me again. This short was about a couple, Eddie and Mike, approaching an important milestone in their relationship and over time life has gotten in the way of romance. Work, work and more work. Eddie is expecting Mike to have their regular celebration with all their friends. You know, same old, same old. This is something many couples in long term relationships struggle with.

But Mike surprises Eddie with a wonderful getaway and they rediscover the magic. Oh my do they ever!...more

This short story is romantic and sweet!! One thing I love that this is about an established couple. Eddie and Mike has been together for 15 years, and that is something VERY positive. Something different than two people just start a relationship. It gives a positive look-out on a romantic journey -- and how lovely Mike is, to give a break that they both need on a 15th anniversary by giving a holiday surprise to Eddie ... Beautiful setting, beautiful writing, and even that it stops there, I imagi...more

Life can easily erode a loving relationship. Couples find that just making it through the day leads to neglect, disappointment, and taking the other person for granted. Things that you loved to do with and for your partner get shoved in the background with the promise to get around to it later. For many couples, later never comes. They drift further and further apart until they can't find their way back to each other. Eddie and Mike in 'Swept Away' by Sloan Parker, fear that they're headed in th...more

Awww. Romantic fifteen anniversary of two "bears". Eddie is a struggling civil rights attorney and Mike is a successful "straight-bar" owner. Both have a commanding presence. The attorney has big tattoos. How refreshing is that? I liked it. And Mike is the kind of "alpha" who is not into PDA.

The two men have been very busy the last 6 months: too much work, less time for each other, not enough sex... But this anniversary will be a turning point, in many ways.

It is Eddie's POV and I loved his voi...more

I had tears in my eyes at the end - totally loved it! Two big cuddly teddy bears and one extremely romantic getaway to celebrate an important milestone made for a fantastic story. I was completely wrapped up in everything Eddie was feeling - the descriptions were very vivid. His journey from being weighed down with daily frustrations to the almost immense gratitude of being alone with his man was so heartfelt. Awesome and amazing - thank you, Sloan!!!

Sloan, you know I was hanging out for this one, and you didn't disappoint at all! Loved it!

Mike's thoughtfulness was beautiful - a surprise getaway, the hard-to-find lube, the quiet dining table set for two on the decking - all showing his awareness of how life can overtake the romance in a relationship. Eddie was so cute too, when he was playing in the water - A fucking giggle.

This is a special story and I thank you for writing it!

One of the sweetest, most romantic short stories I've had the pleasure to read.

Sloan Parker's writing style is as great as ever, the characters well rounded, the locations and descriptions sucked me in, the feelings, emotions, the triumphs and troubles of a long-term relationship nicely and skillfully explored.

I can hardly believe all this could be done in so very few pages. 3.5 stars

I am normally not that big on established couples stories but I loved this one. Sloan Parker was my first fave in the m/m genre and I have remained a huge fan since so I am totally not surprised that I loved this.

Eddie is having a bad day. It's the day before his and his partner, Mike's, 15th anniversary and nothing is going right. He's dreading the annual anniversary event that is planned for the next day but he won't tell Mike because Mike looks forward to it every year. What he doesn't know i...more

i loved this story. i loved the idea of the life that is always sweep us away till we forget to take care about ourselves and lovers.
and i loved the beloved "Mike" more than the narrator.
his character is so attractive and sweet.
and his funny actions and seeings gave a comic .. funny touch to the story.

Well done short story of two men in an established relationship finding a way to inject some new energy.

I thought the story and characters were very well-developed for such a short story... lots of plot.

Not my favorite characters, but good writing and unique, good twists, happy ending.

Yay! I've been waiting for this story! I loved this story. I got a lot of goosebumps while reading it. That was like the perfect surprise for their anniversary. Thank you so much for choosing this picture and make it an awesome story! I truly hope there'll be more short scenes at the island :D

What a perfect "established couple" story with a lovely, "awwww" ending. Sloan Parker gives us two hard-working men who need a little break from the daily grind to reaffirm their love on their fifteenth anniversary. Swept Away is a short, sweet, feel good story sure to leave a reader smiling.

I liked this story for the romance of it. I did have to suspend belief big time that any human rights lawyer would risk his reputation to put on a yearly sex show with 40 of your closest friends. People aren't that discreet and trustworthy to keep your secrets.
Embry Carlysle
I loved the romance of this story. The characters were never "over" done or caricatures of gay men. The love they had was real and strong, which in today's society seems so rare, unfortunately. I thoroughly enjoyed this story ;)
Rachel
Aww, I just loved this, it was so romantic and sweet. I love stories about established couple who continue to work to make their relationships work and are totally committed to each other. I really loved the characters and writing!

A five minute read that made me swoon! An established couple reconnecting in a setting so romantic it brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful descriptions, fantastic characterisations, and did I mention romantic? :)
Tina
Awww, what a sweet short story! Loved the reminder that even stable relationships need to be taken care of and treated tenderly. It's also nice to see a long term m/m couple still very much in love.

Sloan Parker has become one of my favorite M/M authors.
Andrea
I'm always impressed when an author can get me caught up and actually caring about the lives of their characters in so few pages. Swept Away is cute, sweet and funny.

Excellent free short m/m romance about lawyer, part of a couple who've celebrated their anniversary the same way for 15 years, who's dreading this year's anniversary celebration.
Bookbee
Gosh but this was one of the most romantic things I've ever read! I loved all of the little details that Mike remembered to make their anniversary special!

At first I wasn't sure but the flow of the writing pulls you in. The meaning behind the story was wonderful. I really enjoyed this read.
Tami
Really nice short story of a happy anniversary - with a nice twist in the beginning. One extra start for being a freebie.

Beautiful story about two guys and their 15th anniversary. Sweet, sensual, sexy, romantic. In a word - perfect.

This was a very sweet short about two men in an established 15 year relationship. It is their 15 year anniversary and Eddie is prepared to celebrate in their traditional way. I thought this was a very nice story about these two committed men and I enjoyed it a lot.
