This book is a kind of memoir of William Newton Clarke's faith, particularly his reading of Scripture and asking faith questions.

He begins with naive commitment early in life to deeper knowledge in college, asking ongoing questions about the inspiration of Scripture over the years, eventually leading him to a more sophisticated notion of the role of Scripture in faith.
