Mary Ann
Harry Cat and Tucker Mouse, from the classic A Cricket in Times Square (George Selden, Farrar, 1961), are brought to a younger audience of beginning readers. Harry and Tucker enjoy their time together, but in the evenings Harry likes to go out to the theater. Tucker prefers staying at home, in their cozy drainpipe in Times Square. One day, Harry is offered a part in a real Broadway play. He is thrilled at this chance to be on stage. But Tucker misses his friend, who is now out late every night. ...more
This book with its colorful illustrations tells the story of how a cat and a mouse became friends and how that friendship is tested when Harry is invited to become a regular player on the stage. It is appropriate for children five years old to 8 years old.
Cute story about friendship. Based on the books by George Selden and illustrated by Garth Williams. The illustrations in this book are by Olga and Aleksey Ivanov and are reminiscent of William's wonderful style.
This is a wonderful story of friendship. One of the things that attracts me to this Early Reader type of book is the illustrations. They are wonderful.
Great friendship story.
