At fifteen, JT Pierce was the star of a hit TV show and had the world in his hands. Every teeny-bopper magazine had his face on it; every teenage girl had his poster on her wall. But then the show went on hiatus, and JT wouldn’t lower himself to bit parts or commercials. Slowly, his star faded from view.

Seven years later, JT is Johnny Thomas, who hopes to jumpstart his car

This was an alright book. At times I felt like it was dragging a bit but then it picked up. I liked Brett, who's a photographer, more than I liked Johnny, who's the actor. Mostly because I thought Johnny was just a complete idiot. He disobeyed his manager, who is doing him a big favor by trying to get him back into the limelight, by not laying low with his sexuality like he was told. Then Brett, who he met at a famous club after the manager told him to lay low, does some suspicious thin
being gay in Hollywood (make that a young gay man, who is trying to make a comeback) is definitely not easy. And for Johnny, who is also starting a relationship with a freelance photographer, well, that makes it a whole new world of complication. Especially when his "personal" photos that are taken from his boyfriend's personal camera, landed on his manager's lap, being ready to be spread on gossip sites. I really enjoy the story because it feels real. I'm sure that it is true, it's not easy bei ...more

Hollywood is a surrealistic environment to begin with and has more politics going on that Washington DC. It's very difficult for twenty-two year old Johnny Thomas, of 'Beautiful Liar' by J.D. Snyder, to differentiate between the truth and all the lies. Johnny doesn't realize how much things have changed since he was a child actor and how much he will need to sacrifice in order to be a star again now that he is an adult. When he meets Brett, a photographer, he becomes entangled in events which ma ...more

What Johnny Thomas wants most is to distance himself from his “child star” persona, JT Pierce. He wants to be seen as a serious actor, with leading roles in blockbuster films. He is looking for “something more, something bigger” and enlists the help of his former manager to restart his career. Johnny, however, hasn’t yet recognized the difference between being an actor in serious films and simply wanting to be famous. Is he willing to deny who he is, to convince the public that he is a straight ...more

Probably more like a 3 1/2 but I did like it a lot. Would have been a higher rating if it were longer because I just wanted more. :D I really liked Johnny - he was so sweet and so flawed and mixed up at the same time - just my type. I really wish J.M. would do a longer sequel.
This was quite a nice read as one can expect from this writer. But I got to last page and thought that there were some unresolved issues left to work out.

This was an amazing book. It surprised me at first with all the details it had. If there were more books like this, I would soo read them. It was great.
I liked Brett, wanted to smack Johnny upside the head a few times for being such a hypocrite and um...that's the end? I want to know what happens dagnabbit!

It's short but I like the characters a lot. It's predictable but they're both very cute, if only it's been longer...

Wow - could Johnny be any more naive? He's pretty close to TSTL

What?? That was the end?? Cheap!
Someone tell me if there's a sequel.
