Repetition is used both to advance the plot and help guide very early readers through this engaging story about a bunny who is unhappy with his species. The sentences are short and the vocabulary is very easy – but it gets the job done.
Lively illustrations dominate each page and provide obvious clues to the limited text. For example, each time the bunny experiments with being a new animal, that animal appears in the picture each subsequent time it is mentioned.

Although this book has very simple words, it is a book that I loved as a child and still cherish today. This story is about a young bunny that decides he is tired if being a bunny. He doesn't like eating carrots all the time or how many brothers and sisters he has, or how big his ears are. He sets out to live with different animals. He tries being a bear, a skunk, a possum, a bird, a beaver, a moose, and a pig. After he visits all the other animals he is able to realize just how much he loves be...more

This is about a bunny who doesn't like living with his bunny family, and wants to live elsewhere. He lives with various animals, until he realize the best place is home with his own bunny family.
"It's Not Easy Being a Bunny" is a book about a rabbit who's not satisfied with the everyday life of being a rabbit. He ventured into the world to try to become like different animals. He attempted to be; a bear, a bird, a beaver, a pig, a opossum, a moose and finally a skunk. After living with each of these animal families for a short period of time, P.J realizes that his life as a bunny isn't really as bad as he thought it was. He returns to his family and appreciates his life more. I really l...more
This book is about P.J. Funnybunny, who does not like being a bunny because he has to eat carrots and his ears were big. He leaves home and goes to live with the bears, birds, beavers, pigs, moose, possums and skunks, but P.J. finds out that he does not like those either. After his adventures, he decides that life as a bunny is pretty great and he ends up going home after all. The illustrations, done by Roger Bollen, are bright and colorful in order to draw the reader’s attention. They also add...more
This book has a very cute, creative way of teaching diversity and to be happy with who you are. In this book, the bunny decides he doesn't like being a bunny anymore and he wants to go and try living with numerous other animals and being just like them. It's the classic, "is the grass truly greener on the other side?" type of book.

The main character in this story is P.J. Funnybunny. P.J has a lot of brothers and sisters, and kinda gets tired of his big family. Throughout the story, P.J tries to pretend he is a different animal such as a bear, a bird, a moose and a beaver. But when he goes to live with those animals, he gets bored quickly because he can't do all the things that they can do. In the end, He realizes that he just likes being a bunny. He decides to go back home, after-all. Its a quite lengthy story, but good t...more
This is such a great book to read in the beginning of the school year. It's about a bunny who feels he doesn't fit in at home so he tries to live with other animals to fit in with them. I think it's perfect to show kids that sometimes you may not feel like where you are is where you should be but that in the end you all may have a common goal and to just be strong and positive and it will be ok. All kids are nervous to start school, a new grade, new friends but I think this book could help them...more

This is the first book that I chose to read to my peers. I enjoyed reading this book because of the reasons that were given to why the bunny didn't want to be another animal. They were funny reasons. It has plenty of places where I can pause and ask the students what they think the bunny will want to be next. It gives them a chance to think of another animal the bunny will choose to be. It also is very repetitive which makes it easy for younger children to follow along.
PJ Funnybunny hates his life. He doesn't feel like he fits in with his family and he hates all things associated with being a bunny. He decides to run away from his home and stop bring a bunny so he searches for other animal families to live with. Much like _Horace_, this story is one that kids will find entertaining because they will know how the story will end and they'll love the repetition. It's still one of my favorite books to this day.
This is the very first book I successfully read on my own when i was about 4 or 5. This book will always hold something dear to me and it holds a very deep and wholesome moral: Always be yourself.
Its a great book to read to younger children with great illustration and short but descriptive paragraphs on each page. If your young one is just starting out, this is the one to grab. 5/5

This is a fantastic book! Students could take away many different lessons from this and a teacher could plan activities around those lessons to help students make the connection; because of the different lessons this book could teach, i would recommend it for any elementary grade. I will definetly have this book in my classroom no matter how old it is.
A great concept book about teaching kids that being yourself is okay and the best thing you can be. It is also relatable because the bunny attempts to change itself into different animals but in the end it's happy being a bunny and that is the best thing to be; yourself. I loved this book; especially because I love bunnies!

This book can be used with children that are not wanting to eat or be a part of their own family. It seems to create a sense of being. Repetition was used throughout and also with different animals. The new animals could be a introduction to new animals or terms about them.
This book is a great book for an encouraging word for being happy with who you are. Its about a bunny who just does not like being apart of the bunny family so he left home. He went to the bears, birds, beavers, etc. but neither one fit him. By the end of the book the bunny was appreciative to be who he was and accepted it.

This is a simple story that builds animal upon animal with lots of repetition and colorful illustrations that will entertain young children. It is perfect for beginning readers and our girls read this one aloud during storytime.
What a great book to read to children about loving who you are and never wishing you were someone else. The bunny in the story tries to be every other animal before he realizes that he is truly happy just being who he is.
Personally, I can't stand this book--I don't know why we need another story about a sad little bunny who decides to run away from home and become someone different but then realizes that it's best to be himself and stay with the family who loves him, especially not when Margaret Wise Brown and Clement Hurd did it with such lyrical prose and sensitive illustrations--but my students can't get enough of it at naptime. They love looking at the silly, cartoonish illustrations, and using the pictures...more

With a degree in fine arts, Marilyn Sadler assumed she would be an illustrator. But when early in her career she was presented with an opportunity to write, she seized it and quickly discovered that she had found her true love. No sad, sappy stories for her, however. She likes to make herself laugh, and with that her characters usually end up looking pretty silly for one reason or another.
