If you want to make do and mend you need a good crafting manual. Luckily for us, Jazz Domino Holly, founder of the Shoreditch Sisters Women Institute, has written a guide to knitting, sewing, quilting, baking, preserving and kitchen gardening. This is a lovely book, perfect for the experienced crafter to flick through to gain inspiration, but also excellent as a beginners bible to craft- if you are interested in the craft movement but are not really sure where to start this is the book for youu. If you are someone who has never made preserves, done baking, grown herbs, made your own cosmetics, knitted, quilted or sewed and you want to start all of these things, this is a good book to try as it gives a sampling of all these things.

However for those who have read multiple books on any of the above topics that interest you, don't bother with this one.

Having said that their are some nice photos and I did take the almond face scrub recipe as I was looking for a homemade exfoliant recipe.

Very basic, really good if you've never done any sewing, knitting, cookery, gardening etc. A bit too basic if you are already competent and looking for a challenge, but the sugar biscuits recipe is well worth trying whatever your level of experience.
