Oh my, oh my this pushed all my buttons big time. A Navy S.E.A.L and a cowboy, talk about an all time favorite wet dream. This is it.

Laura Harner has fast become one of my favorite writers. Haven't read anything that I haven't liked.

This is about Ty, a Seal suffering from PTSD that goes to stay with his surrogate father figure on a ranch in Arizona owned by Cass Cartwright. It's reluctant love? at first sight. For Ty things take an immediate down turn, when his surrogate father Gibby dies of...more

This is a great book.......What more could you ask for? Two drool worthy Alpha males (loved the description of them both in the opening chapter....hmmmm), 1 a cowboy and 1 in the Navy. Both finding love for the first time.

Of course.....there were issues that need to be addressed, Tyler is struggling with his sexuality, PTSD and an overwhelming amount of guilt all whilst a love spurned cowhand has set his sights on them both for revenge, which was all well done and the story flowed nicely.

What I...more

This was an impulse buy because of- well, erm- I adore cowboys and military heroes and this book had both. There, I admitted it. Hehe!

Just kidding- sort of! I enjoyed the story and really liked many elements included in it including the type of heroes. There was a fast romance which truthfully I enjoyed so much that I wish it could have been given more time. There was a suspense plot and again, I would have preferred it to be fleshed out more. And there was the subplot of Ty dealing with his PTS...more

For a reason that I now don’t remember, I read the following book to this one in the series, and I had a completely wrong idea of Ty and Cass as a couple, and this is a positive comment, since it means they developed as a couple so much, that they reached the equilibrium I witness in Hold Tight.

My assumption was that Ty was this strong former military man who swept away from his feet the more refined Cass. I even had this idea of Ty being stronger and older, and of course the leader in their rel...more

This was a disappointing book for mine. The cover is magic, the premise is good, the execution was lacking.

**SPOILERISH COMPONENTS AHEAD**

The segue between chapters was not smooth or polished.

The reasons for the dramas surrounding the ranch/MC's was too much. Exploding kitchens. A ranch hand getting into a fight with his employer over a guy he just met. A gun pulled for the previous reason, sure jobs are easy to get in rural areas.

There were the most unbelievable amount of gay guys in this town/...more

I got to admit, this was the first book I read of this author and I just about fell in love with her characters, Tyler and Cass. The story was well written, flowed nicely and kept my attention throughout the afternoon. I basically couldn't put it down, even to start dinner. I needed to know what would happen next for these two complicated men.

Ms. Harner does a great job in creating well rounded characters with real issues to deal with and I found she knew her subject matter for Tyler really wel...more

Ty is fresh out of the Navy. Out of the hospital, rehabbing his body, mind and spirit. He is on his way to visit his good friend. mentor and replacement father from the service, who is now the cook on a ranch. He arrives right in the middle of an emergency, and when he discovers his surrogate dad just died, it's too much for him and his mind shuts down.

Cass is the owner of the ranch, and is taken with the handsome young Ty. When Ty passes out, he immediately takes charge and takes Ty under his w...more

This book is nearly good. There was a lot going for it...great characters; great back stories; great premise. It just didn't quite get it right tho'. Not many authors get the 'love at first sight' storyline right & Harner missed the mark with this one. Ty & Cass deserved a better lead up to the relationship. 'Lust at first sight morphing into love' would have been much more satisfying & believable. Given Ty's past trauma with his sexuality, I felt that his character 'relaxed' into hi...more

Every time I read a blurb and see that the book has a wounded hero in it, my interest spikes up. I can't help it, I like a bit of difficulty in a story. In this case, cowboys didn't hurt either and extra conflict made it about more than a simple romance.

Ty is a Navy veteran recovering from a head injury. He comes to the ranch to visit his good friend only to arrive there when the medics are taking away his de...more

2.5 - I just didn't get into this one. Ty's background is too hyperbolic, then he just seems to shrug everything off and he and Cass are using the L word about two days after meeting each other, and I didn't find any of the story particularly believable either - where did these guys live, Gaysville?? Not just Ty and Cass but all the cowboys on the ranch, the cook, the sheriff, the PTSD counsellor... Can gay men only be happy living in a bubble away from straight people? Sadly the answer is 'clea...more

I got this book purely because it was under £1 and it was the best 72p I have ever spent. This was a really hot story about coming to terms with who you are and what you want. The story was beautifully crafted and created depth and believeablity very quickly. I was drawn into thier lives and cared very deeply about what happened to them. Cass and Ty where people I wanted to learn about and if this were to be made into a series I think it would have a long life. I could see the sherif's story bei...more

What can I say? I saw the potential and am quite disappointed. Tyler and his PTSD moments or the moments that led up to them were over the top. Jed pulling a gun because he didn't get what he wanted and the guy who liked Jed doing almost the same thing. Cass, teary eyes, wanting to protect, and the overuse of the word "baby" all culminated into a less than okay read. These characters were flat and the story was forced/rushed. Even for the small change I spent, I kinda feel like I waste...more

I really enjoyed this story but as one reviewer stated, it was somewhat underdeveloped. I would have liked to have seen more in regards to Tyler's PTSD. The way his episodes were introduced left little in regards to what got him to that point. Sure, his past injuries were explained somewhat but the PTSD was basically just thrown in. The reasoning for the violence on the ranch was a little much. I liked Cass and Tyler okay. The story was good for the most part. I just would have preferred to see...more

Wow this one was nuts. It felt like several stories part taped together. It was jumpy and if I am not mistaken all of this happened within a weeks time. I understand some like, even dare I say love, instalove books and that's just awesome. However, if I am looking for fantasy I will look into some hot tentacle sex. And the PTSD flashback scene was argh I don't even know what adjective to use. I am absolutely positive it meant to be serious but it was and had it been part of a different book mayb...more

I only read this one because I wanted to read its sequel, Hold Tight.

It’s not that I didn’t like this book. It’s just that I’m getting tired of the meet-fall in love-move in-in one day romance novel trope. This entire story took place in a week, maybe a week and half. Maybe.

The main characters, Cass and Tyler, were underdeveloped. Their backgrounds were interesting, but Harner didn’t really dive deep into them. We know that Ty was a Navy SEAL and discharged due to injury, ending up on Cass’ ranc...more

This is a hard book to decipher my feelings on. On one hand, I enjoyed it in the way I enjoy fluff. On the other, my mind couldn't get passed a lot of WTF moments and I think overall that ruined my enjoyment of the story.

Ty Hardin is a Navy Veteran that's looking to recover on a ranch with his mentor after getting injured. He's got a severe case of PTSD, so far in the closet he might never see the door and now attracted to the ranch's owner. Cass Cartwright is an openly gay ranch owner. He take...more

I actually loved this book. It had two hot MC's. One a cowboy and one navy veteran. Two of my favourite types of characters. I loved that this was full of drama. In a way I wish it had been longer, but I could live with the length it was.

Ty and Cass were just a sweet couple. I loved the instant attraction Cass had for Ty. It was really sweet and I loved the "baby" he threw at him the day they met. Their relationship developed kind of slowly, they did not have sex until Ty was ready.

I really enjo...more

A 2-3 read.

The fact I went on to read the other books available in the series meant I obviously liked aspects of the story and was intrigued by the secondary characters to do so; however, there was a but... Very helpful, I know.

Maybe there was just too much going on form me in terms of sub-plots? Not sure.

Whatever it is/was, it's certainly not enough to stop me from reading any other WSR books that are released.

Hey, it's too early in the morning for me to make any sense.

I liked this book and the two MCs. I was a little surprised at just how quickly these two men seem to come together but given the amount of trauma that Ty was dealing with, I could certainly understand Cass's desire to take him in and protect him. I would have liked to have some more interaction with Roy, but given the short time frame of the book and the number of other side issues that played into the story, there just wasn't enough time to explore a lot of other characters. I thought the myst...more

I liked this book, and yes, I had read it before...braincells disappearing faster than new ones are being made

This is going to be a very short review. The story revolves around Ty, ex Navy SEAL who is suffering from PTSD, and Cass, owner of Willow Springs Ranch in Arizona. How Ty came to be at the ranch, and what happens when he's there, I'll leave you to discover. Another good book from Laura Harner.

Tyler had such a great back story and I would have loved more about him and his relationship with Cass, but the instant lust/love was so fast and rushed that I don't quite see the falling in love part of it.
And the 'mystery' around the whole sabotage thing was just a bit too much for me, but I guess it was to introduce the MC's from the next book.

I am on the fence about this book, i did not find the story very involving, nor the characters very interesting, i had to stop myself skimming through this book just to get the end. I did not get a sense that this was a romance, it just seemed to revolve around sex. i would give it 2.5 but i have given this book 3. has not made mewant to readmore by this author

Not my cup of tea, from the point of view that I felt there was too much tell, too much exposition, and not enough meat in the story (as in character and plot, of course - what did you think I mean!) I was also cross when the story finished at 85% and the remainder of the Kindle book was excerpts from another two stories which I had no desire, at this stage, to read.

4 1/2 stars!

This was a great first book in the Willow Spring series. Ms. Harner has done herself proud with this tale and I’m eager to read more about these man-lovin’ cowboys!

Ty Hard by L.E. Harner

A pretty good start to a new series by Ms. Harner. The premise of a ranch run by mostly gay/bi cowboys is interesting. The quick-to-love between Ty and Cass not so credible but this is what happens in shorter stories. Overall I enjoyed this book, the cover is another story.

This was a great guilty pleasure book. I loved the characters as individuals, but felt their story deserved more time to develop and explore. But the sweetie Navy SEAL and the gruff Cowboy were definitely a turn on to watch. I would read more to see how their relationship progresses.

Someone's been doing their niche market research: the world was gagging for an m/m special forces/cowboy-crossover hurt-comfort romance. For a buck this was a great read (even if I could have assembled it myself inside of four hours from snippets of every other m-m book in my kindle)
Strawberry
The book is well written, without stumbling blocks. I don't know exactly why, but found it only medium-rare. Maybe too much focus and too little space. Read this one because I really wanted to read the sequel.

I enjoyed this sweet story, but it felt rushed almost from beginning to end. Ty has major issues going on, not only with the PTSD, which, in and of itself, was debilitating, but with regressing his sexual orientation for so long. The way he accepted the relationship and fell in love just seem to happen way too fast. I would have liked to have seen an epilogue showing how things were going and how they were dealing with Ty's PTSD issues and even learned a little bit more about some of the other r...more
