Spends a lot of time making the case to buy a PowerBreathe device, which I had done prior to reading, is sometimes a bit technical in its descriptions and alternates between too much explanation and not enough clarification, but all in all is a great book on the anatomy and physiology of breathing and the importance and methodology of properly training your probably neglected breathing muscles. In fact, I have never read or received this information in any other form in 25 years of training.
This book was a little confusing to follow, but the bottom line is that training the breathing muscles allows one to breathe better during sports, and thus perform better. Bottom line: work your core muscles! A lot of the running-specific exercises are your standard core exercises (planks, bridges, bird-dogs, etc) but it's always good to know that working your core is essential for MANY reasons, and breathing is just one more of them. I found a lot of the exercise photos to be a little creepy ...more

This was a really interesting read, and very persuasive. The science of it is good and really got me interested in my breathing.
