As the wife of a former unbeliever, this novel touched me in ways I hadn't expected. I felt the pain and heartache of the main character Lexie as if it was my own, as if I was reliving my past. I remember those days of crying out to God, of yearning for my husband to know God and to be someone I could share my faith with. It's a lonely place to be and Ms. Miller captured it expertly. Of course she would. She's in the same position and understands the sorrow and pain first hand. I loved this nove...more

Lexie is a Christian wife and mother who is trying to live her life for the glory of God. But she is facing the biggest challenge of her life. Her marriage is in trouble. Her husband is an atheist who does not understand Lexie’s beliefs. This difference in beliefs makes for high tension in their marriage. Compounding the stress is Hugh’s job. He is working longer hours in hopes of receiving a coveted promotion.

What neither of them realize is that something more sinister is working against them....more

Lexie Baltimore is a loving wife and mom who also happens to be a devoted Christian woman married to a man she loves deeply, but does not share her beliefs. She is also a woman who God has been sending on missions, using her talent as a sculptor to guide her to those in need of His Hope. Then one day Lexie meets a pastor who appears to be everything she has ever hoped for in her own husband. As Lexie's efforts to bridge the gap between her and her husband begin to fail, rumors and accusations rea...more

Among my favorite type of novel to read is a spiritual warfare novel. I always feel that stories based on spiritual warfare can have the most profound effect on the reader. The Soul Saver certainly had quite an effect on me, just as I was expecting. It did take a little time for this story to pick up the pace, but Dineen patiently took her time developing her characters and their stories so there would be a greater impact later in the story. That impact is felt throughout the story.

I think the...more

Temptation exists all around us. Waiting in the shadows and in the dark to lead us astray if we are willing to open ourselves up to it. That is just what The Soul Saver by Dineen Miller is all about.

Hugh Baltimore has been striving for the very best life has to offer for the last seven years at the Stanford University where he is working on his tenure. After the loss of his daughter, Mandy, he has found solace and peace in the answers science can offer him. Whereas, his wife Lexie has clung to h...more

Not everyone wants to talk about demons. Certainly nobody I know wants to encounter one. Many people, even within the Christian church, don't believe they exist. But Lexi Baltimore does, and she's been called by God to fight one.
Debut author, Dineen Miller, explores two important issues in The Soul Saver. One being the demonic forces that are at work behind the scenes to lure God's children into temptation, and the other being the issue of a Christian being married to an unbeliever. In church c...more

A modern story of spiritual warfare, this is a battle for one unknowing man's soul that hinges on the decisions of others to engage in the fight for him. When his wife, Lexie, seems to finds more in common with a wayward pastor than with her unbelieving spouse, she has to make a conscious decision about the future of her family.

This is a fictional story that is full of much truth, truth that could be very beneficial to readers in similar situations. It deals with temptation, with grief from los...more

I met Dineen Miller in person at a MOPS meeting and had the privilege of chatting with her. Her talk moved many to tears concerning her personal struggles as a mother and marriage to an atheist. Knowing MOPS speakers don't really get paid much, I bought her first book. And its been a LONG time since I've read a book that was hard to put down!!! It's one of those books where you just want to take the day off to read. Dineen's writing surpasses Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight" series and the "Hunger G...more

Fun, Exciting Read

Lexie Baltimore is the wife of a non-believer, but her faith is so strong that God speaks to her through her gift. She creates clay busts of unknown people when God sends her on a mission to help them. Then, marital problems begin to crack through her shield and she turns to one of her missions, a preacher himself who turned his back on God when his wife died last year. Rumors and accusations abound, as a demon called Tobias sets the scene to grab the soul of Lexie’s husband. A...more

I won this incredible book during a blog tour. After letting it sit for 2 weeks, I picked it up one evening could NOT put it down. Brilliantly written and riveting to the last page, Dineen weaves a story certain to challenge and strengthen your faith. Spiritual warfare is a scary topic, but Dineen's precise depiction of its process reveals her personal faith walk and knowledge of the raging battle we'd all rather ignore. If you struggle in a spiritually-mismatched marriage and the spiritual warf...more

With her finger on the pulse regarding a delicate and heart-rending topic—spiritually mismatched marriages—Dineen Miller pens a stunning story of temptation, betrayal, and ultimately—redemption. Miller has a penchant for reaching deep past the superficial issues to the wounded heart that lies at the bottom. Beautiful prose mingles with spine-tingling supernatural elements in THE SOUL SAVER to create a work of art. Talented Miller surges surges onto the fiction scene with the grace and skill of a...more

Dineen Miller's debut novel, The Soul Saver, is a fast-paced thriller that takes the reader on rollercoaster ride. Best of all, its characters are so very real their emotions are visceral. I was drawn into the story from the first sentence and lost sleep, unable to put it down. An extraordinary word artist, Miller paints a multi-dimensional, almost visual, story on the printed page. Novel Rocket and I give it our highest recommendation. The Soul Saver is a 5-star must read.

This book is a life-changer! Focusing on the hot-topic of a spiritually mismatched marriage, this book grabs you by the heart and doesn't let go until you turn the last page. With a natural talent for penning beautiful prose, Miller paints a story sure to make you stop and evaluate your faith and your heart. This is a read not to be missed!

Well written. The characters and story drew me in from the beginning and captivated me through to the end. Lexie accurately portrays common experiences of a spouse within a spiritually mismatched marriage. I really enjoyed Dineen Miller's writing style.

Couldn't put this down, I loved how Miller wove in an intriguing what-if with spiritual warfare. And the conclusion was a bit of a twist, making the entire journey worth-while. Can't wait for more from this gifted writer.

As a devout Christian, I normally enjoy Christian fiction, but I found this one trite, overworked, gushy, preachy, and frankly, quite boring.

If I had not won this book from a Christian Fiction Devourers group contest, I would never have thought to pick it up for two main reasons. One: one of the biggest plot devices is that the protagonist and her husband are in a "spiritually mismatched" marriage; i.e., she is saved, he is an atheist. Since I do not have such a problem, I wouldn't have supposed that I would get anything from that part of the storyline. Two: the book description screams thriller masquerading as a Christian novel, and...more

THE SOUL SAVER is Dineen’s first fiction work – and what a magnificent debut it is. A complete and utter page turner – it is a powerful story of good versus evil; recognising and facing temptation; losing hope; love and trust; deception and infidelity, and the power of prayer. I was compelled to read, almost without pause, just to see how it was all going to work out at the absolutely thrilling edge of the seat climax to the story. I found Dineen’s take on how the spiritual battle could be playe...more

THE SOUL SAVER by DINEEN MILLER is not your typical Christian novel. At least not like any I’ve read. What first captured my attention was the idea of a Spiritually Mismatched Marriage between the main character and her husband.

Lexie Baltimore’s husband, Hugh is an atheist. Not only is Lexie a believer, she has a gift as well. Through sculptures in her studio, she forms unknown faces from visions God gives her in her dreams that will send her on a mission to save a soul.

Pastor Nate Winslow, los...more

There are very few books about believing in God and characters that stood by the belief that God exist. The Soul Saver is one of these books. The character Lexie Baltimore stood by her belief even when she has to face the battle against evil. There are also two biblical stories that are mentioned behind the main story: Jonah and Job.

Lexie's faith is tested first by the death of her daughter. Her husband Hugh has stopped believing in God and choose science. Everything has to proven by science th...more

Lexie Baltimore is a sculptor that uses her talents in obedience to God's calling. Remembering the faces that she dreams of, she sculpts them to help them. But one day she sculpts a face that isn't an easy in-and-out mission like the others were. Instead, she embarks on a mission that is the biggest one she's ever taken on - herself. Will she be able to see the truth before it's too late?

Nate Winslow is drowning in the regret of the past. He has one mission and one mission only; to win Lexie's h...more

I loved the premise of this book from the very first page. The idea of someone receiving missions from God in such a creative way struck me personally. I loved the characters, the conflict and the amazing twists that the story took. Lexie’s conflict over what she should and shouldn’t do regarding her husband and his faith is powerful. The struggle is real and painful. At times, I wasn’t sure which choice she should make in how to show her husband God’s love and faithfulness. This, to me, is the...more

There's so much to love about this novel.

I found Dineen's debut novel really hard to put down. It moved along at great pace plus a series of well managed conflicts (yes, there a few) made me want to get to the next page quickly.

The main storyline is powerful and compelling. And then Dineen overlays a spiritual battle to intensify the drama. It's this spiritual side that particularly grabbed me. Starting with Lexie's spiritual gift (you'll have to read the novel to find out what it is) which I di...more

What an incredible gift to have--to be able to sculpt the face of someone God wants you to meet long before you do. You never know what your mission is, what you're to do when you meet this mystery person, just that God has a job for you.

In The Soul Saver, a supernatural women's fiction novel by Dineen Miller, Lexie Baltimore has that gift, and it leads her to meet a pastor who understands her pain over losing a child and her frustration over having a husband with whom she cannot share her faith...more

A compelling read from Page 1. The premise is inventive - the lead character, Lexie Baltimore, is an artist to whom God gave the ability to sculpt the face of people He wants her to minister to. Well written and fast paced. Honest portrayal of Lexie's struggles with her feelings toward a married pastor (who believes he made a deal with the devil to keep his daughter alive). If you like supernatural suspense with a redemptive promise, you'll love The Soul Saver.

The book captures your intrigue just past Chapter 2. It's a great read, full of interesting twists and turns. I really like the story line that involved Hugh, the main character's husband. I thought Miller really did some great research about the intricacies of intellectual and science-based professions, especially in the realms of higher education. It was fantastic. There was one quote that really stood out and that was "when the infrastructure is removed from the belief in good and evil, there...more

I read this book because a friend recommended it, and the premise sounded interesting. But this was not a story that drew me in and held me in thrall until the very end. The author's voice was so serious and earnest it was preachy. A bit more humor - make that any humor - and a lighter tone would have made the story more readable. There are plenty of Christian authors out there who tell a better story - stories that celebrate the Christian life without beating the reader over the head with their...more

The characters in the story felt like people I could meet in real life. Although I am not in the situation the story was about, I found portions throughout the book and the questions at the end helpful in guiding my prayers for friends and loved ones.

I haven't come across many fictional books dealing with spiritual warfare & I enjoyed it for this reason. It was an easy read & enjoyable.

Dineen Miller readily admits that one of the greatest lessons she’s learning about life is that there’s purpose in our trials. It’s all about trusting God and putting our hope in Him. Her favorite stories are of the miracles God has wrought in the lives of her family. Through this lens she also believes her years as a youth counselor, a Stephen Minister, a women’s ministry leader, and a small grou...more
