Free novelette written for the M/M Romance group's "Hot Summer Days" event.

Some stereotypes ring true for a reason.

A big gorgeous goof with a heart of gold (and a body covered in various shades of blue paint).

A sexy nurse who can't help taking work home.

A commanding older man who can do and does teach.

*Snick*

A snapshot. A work of art. The beginning of something beautiful.

Oh, boy, What to say about this one?

I'm just now working my way through the Hot Summer Days collection, so I'm a few months behind some of the other reviewers. And I gotta say, while I recognize that Cherie Noel has some writing chops, this story didn't work for me, on a few levels. First and foremost, I think it's inappropriate (view spoiler)[ for an RN to take a mentally-challenged patient home and have sex with him (even if there's a space of time between them meeting and moving on to sexing)...more

I had many issues with this story, the writing was good but the subject matter bothered me

(view spoiler)[ I am not sure why a nurse would just say they didn’t need condoms. Especially since two weeks ago was the first time Tony even started telling other guys to wear them, and even then he may not always have. Were they ever even exclusive? Then later when adding another third they tell him to wear a condom because they are probably clean and want to be careful. The whole reason for the three-wa...more

This story was okay but I felt uncomfortable with the character of Tony who seemed to have some sort of mental disability. It just seemed odd for there to be a sexual relationship with someone in that condition. I didn't really like this photo either - it was kind of too porno for me. I like the artsier photos.

This is one of those books that you can't rate because there is such a love hate relationship. I kind of feel it deserves a five star for that and maybe later when I've really digested it, I'll come to that conclusion. I do know it's a must read book if only because you look at things and have to form opinions’ on things that you might not have had you not read it. It makes you take an internal look and ask yourself questions. Is this really okay? Why wouldn't it be? Is anyone getting hurt? Admi...more

Dear Lord Cherie! Your warning did not do this story justice! It was way hotter, sweeter and loving than thatI

I haven't said this in any of my previous comments (all 80 of them) but this is definitely one of my favorites... I adore Kevin's huge, generous heart; grieve for the loss of the old Tony but again, adore his shy loving nature; hate Patrick for being a greedy, selfish asshole; and finally, adore Neil for his protective strength and sexiness. This story hits every spot perfectly for me -...more

Oh, I definitely want so much more - after all, the story ended at "the beginning"! I can't help but feel like Tony is just a big cuddly teddybear and I want to give him a squeeze, and I'm so jacked that someone like Robert could reduce him to fear at just loving one man *grrr*. That being said, Kevin is a prize, Patrick was a dufus, and Neil has serious potential (and was causing me some serious hot flashes;)! Awesome story with a creative touch. Thank you, Cherie!!!

This was just beautiful, my favorite HSD story so far, both for the wonderful characters and for the uniqueness of the story. Menages are hard to write in a way that makes sense. The characters have to be getting more out of them than just twice the sex, and personalities have to mesh. This was one of the best I've seen for the very rightness of the interactions between the men. It was sweet and hot and sad and caring and I loved it.

The story was an okay read. I can say that I felt sorry for Tony at the beginning of the book. I was glad that life seemed to get better for him after he met Kevin. While this is not my normal type of story, I didn't have a problem with the slight kink. I believe I had issues with the ending. Perhaps if I were able to see more than just the taste I was offered in the story, I might be able to enjoy it more.

I would have loved this even more than I did if it would have gotten a chance to be properly developed. It felt a little like a fast forward and then got cut off too early as well.
Tony is such a wonderful character, he and his relationship with Kevin and then later Patrick and Neil just deserves a lot more words in my opinion. Please give us more!

Nurse rescues abused man, they fall in love, they find a third. great short story. the odd and random font changes got old quickly but that was the "price" of a free download.
really like the message of the plot--the over 6ft, over 21 yrs man was being abused and finally someone recognized that and gave him a way out of the bad relationship.

In general, I prefer novels to short stories, because I can't connect with characters as deeply in such a small amount of words. "Kiss and Tell" shattered those preconceived notions! Cherie Noel managed in just a few pages what many authors can't do in three or four hundred. She made me care!

Tony Broke . my . heart! And all the credit goes to the author, for her ability to express with such poignancy the devastation of domestic abuse, but also the resilience of a damaged soul. Tony is so sweet,...more

I loved this story. I found myself at first surprised and then in love with Tony as more of his personality was revealed. On a serious note, he broke my heart more than once. I'm not sure if I'd want to see it done differently, in hindsight, because it gave the story more depth and allowed me to see how Kevin came to care for him.

I'll admit the sex was hot but overall I just didn't enjoy this one. It started off good as I felt the abuse plot in the beginning was handled well but the rest didn't work for me. (view spoiler)[The nurse takes Tony, now mentally challenged, home with him. He knows Tony is now totally promiscuous since he has no concept of saying no to the men taking advantage of him and so comes up with the idea that they need a third in their relationship to keep Tony safe. The guy he picks doesn't w...more

I just love Tony. He's the sweetest. And Kevin is so caring, seeing the heart inside Tony, not just the outer package. I enjoyed the story because the characters were so real... even Patrick the butthead :) But Neil was a wonderful addition and wish we could hear more about this tri.

I loved this more than I can say Cherie....SO happy to hear that you will be writing more about Tony, Kevin and Neil. What a wonderful dynamic Kevin and Tony (adorable character!) have. Neil seemed to fit quickly and I want to read more about the three of them. Thanks for a wonderful read :)!

I had a difficult time enjoying this story. It seemed rather choppy, skipping periods of time where there needed to be more detail, and spending too much time on areas where there should have been less. I didn't really connect with the characters and had a really hard time picturing them given the descriptions and language used.
Matthew
Definitely steamy short story... but I didn't really get into the characters... the characters had personalities, although they didn't necessarily make a lot of sense or have a lot of development. And the story went from one relationship to a different one.
Gavin Stephenson-Jackman
The domestic violence angle was unexpected but is an issue that needs to be addressed.

Tony is trying to escape an abusive relationship when his nurse Kevin first sees him and does his best to help in a system that is dominated by shelters for abused women and the few supports that exist for gay men. Kevin becomes attached to Tony and to help Tony feel safe takes in a third. Enter Tony's art teacher Neil...

A likeable story that addresses an issue that is too easily glossed over. So much emphasis...more

Story Prompt:
Please tell me the story of this pic, who's watching, when does the threesome begin, where are they, are they strangers??

Very memorable characters - Tony, who many would see as disabled but who retained all of the very best qualities of humanity; Kevin, who saw into the very soul of those he loved; and Neil, a new and promising addition to the mix. Loved it!

The main character had the mentality of a 10 year old. I don't have a problem with mentally challenge character but in this one Tony was kind of pathetic.

There was no sexual tension built up at all, the guy was screwing around the campus and suddenly one day they wanted to have sex with each other and was pouting poetry of love. I was rolling my eyes the whole time. It was so cheesy. ugh.

The way Kevin talked about the third man was like about a baby-sitter, no wonder the man's fed up and left....more

At first, I couldn't even remember about what it was :/ Now I think that it was 'readable', but nothing to think about it twice.

3.75 stars. Very enjoyable short. Loved the character. My only fault with the story was some repetitve narritive. Recommend.

This one was so good and I didn't want it to end. I found a new author to read, I love when that happens:-)

It seems that I am definitely the minority on my rating. The story was decent and the writing was good but I just do not find child-like, grown men sexy.

Butcher, baker, candlestick maker…ummm, eww, every chance I get, and I surely would if these damn characters would ever shut up. Born in West Palm Beach, Florida and raised…er, is all over the damn place a sufficiently descriptive term? No? Then how about this? Tinker, tailor, Indian chief…Ooooh, especially when smexy men are involved (!), only under duress, and did the cheek-bones give it away?
