This is a prequel to Shade's of Grey. I started this book for one because if was free, and to see if I liked the story and the way the author wrote before investing my time and money into a new series. This short story actually takes you into the first book not quite halfways so you really get a lot of story and character building for a short story. The plot and mystery surrounding the female lead Jude was enough to keep me on the edge of my seat, and as soon as I had finished this short I bough...more

This is a prequel to the first book. I happened to see it was free and decided it sounded like a new series I might like! It's actually a great prequel. You get to see some of the world building and learn some of the characters and you get to see the author's writing style. Well done! I liked it, which meant I bought the first book of the series :) I think you'll like Jude, she's the perfect character because though she's flawed, she's still awesome! :) or in my opinion!

Really enjoyed reading this half book, trying to find an ebook to download for my Kobo ebook. Haven't found one yet and really frustrated as I got hooked on it and now I am left hanging, waiting to read more.

If anyone knows where I can download the full ebook - Shades of Gray - send me the link.

I really, really liked this short story. It made me start reading the full 1st book...which wasn't so good. I wish the author had continued on the same vein as this short story. They seem like 2 different writing styles between this and the full first book.

The short story part was really too short to rate. However you do get 18 (yup 18, read em' n' weep) totally freebie chapters of Shades of Grey which is where the story really starts.

This is the first 18 chapters of "Shades of Gray". A nice teaser to the characters and the 'World according to Jude'.

Faye
A nice sharp taster of whats to come in Shades of Gray... setting the scene nicely.

Great look into Jude's life before everything that happened in the first book.
Sarah (Workaday Reads)
A great flash fiction look at Jude's night before book 1 starts.

L.M. Pruitt has been reading since before she can remember, and writing nearly as long. She fell in love with New Orleans after spending one week there, and visits the city as often as her schedule permits--which isn't nearly often enough. She is the best selling author of the Jude Magdalyn series, the Moon Rising series, the Frankie Post series, and the Winged series. She makes her home in Florid...more
