Danger, intrigue, betrayal, revenge, swashbuckling action and an unconventional love story between a pirate (okayyy, privateer if you want to get technical) and the daughter of a British admiral set against a Bruckheimer-esque background. You can almost hear faint strains of The Pirates of the Caribbean theme interspersed with the clangs of swordplay as the action and adventure escalates on the high seas. I have a confession to make. I have a real weakness for pirate/naval romance. There's something about the wide open ocean, and those little itty bitty ships they used to sail to plunder and pillage (if you ever get the chance to tour a realistic modern copy, you realize just how minuscule they were, and how packing hundreds of people on board must have been interesting). And then pirates are always gorgeous and rough and scantily clad and full of derring-do, and naval officers are like pirates b...more

This is third installment from the Sons of the Revolution series, and my first pirate book that I have read. Much to my surprise I really enjoyed reading “The Rogue Pirate's Bride”. Also there is a heart throbbing romance between a beautiful British admirals daughter and heart stopping pirate that is wrapped up into a fantastic read that wi...more

I loved it, I guess I’m fond of pirates romances with the action, the adventure and I’ve read this one in a really short time because I couldn’t close the book.
To start, this book can perfectly be read as a stand alone, it’s part of a series yes but until I was writing this I didn’t know it and it didn’t have any consequence on my enjoyment of this book. Shana Galen style makes it completely wonderful even without any knowle...more

I have to say I'm starting to really like pirate stories and here's why: I get to use words like swashbuckling. Now, who doesn't love the word swashbuckling? I mean come on that word is a lot of fun to say.
In the story we have two strong will people. First off we have Miss Raeven Russell, a daughter of British admiral who seeks vengeance for her dead fiancé. Sébastien Harcourt, marquis de Valère (aka Captain Cutlass throughout the book), is trying seek out vengeance for a friend who took him in...more

This was the third book in the trilogy about the three Harcourt brothers and the one I most wanted to read after gathering hints from the other two that brother Bastien was a pirate. I was so impatient and eager. Finally, I got the chance to read it and I was not disappointed.
Rogue Pirate's Bride can be read without having read the first two books though at the end there are some series spoilers. Unlike the other two, this one takes place almost entirely at sea and amongst all new characters.

Shana Galen’s ‘Rogue’s Pirate Bride’ is the historical adventure ride women are seeking with a hero and heroine who are perfectly matched in every way but work to get what they want.
In ‘Rogue’s Pirate Bride,’ Galen has created a swashbuckling escapade with a fearless female protagonist leading the charge across ships and lands! This novel was so packed with action, a compelling female protagonist and male hero mixed with just the right amount of subterfuge, nautical ambience and history, I could...more

Shana Galen knocked it out of the park with The Rogue Pirate's Bride!
I thoroughly enjoyed falling in love with Bastien and Raeven. Both characters were robust and complex. I appreciated Raeven being a heroine who didn't fit the mold, but rather created her own. The way she seized the reins of her own destiny was endearing. She handled every curve Ms. Galen threw at her with style and grace.

The mark of a truly talented writer is not seeing their mark at all. Fantastic writing takes years of hard work and perfected skills. A fantastic writer makes it all look effortless. Shana Galen shows that kind of talent in the pages of this fabulous February release, THE ROGUE PIRATE’S BRIDE.

First off – I absolutely love pirates. Maybe it goes back to watching old Errol Flynn and Tyrone Power movies on television, the tight pants and high boots, the shirt open down to there and, of course, gazing raptly as they swung around on the ship’s rigging with the ease of a trapeze artist. So when I heard Shana Galen had a new book featuring a *swoon* pirate, I screamed – and then let RtB know I wanted that book. I mean, I really wanted that...more

I have a confession to make. This is my very first pirate romance novel. When I first came across Shana Galen’s The Rogue Pirate’s Bride I instantly thought of those Harlequin ‘bodice ripper’ romance novels that came out in the early 90’s with Fabio Lanzoni on the cover. And not even exactly what they are, but more along the lines of what I thought they would be like considering I haven’t read one of those either. However, it’s always a pleasure to be prov...more

THE ROGUE PIRATE'S BRIDE by Shana Galen, Book III of THE SONS OF THE REVOLUTION trilogy, combines stunning romance, a fast-paced adventure story, an unconventional heroine (my favorite) and a breathtaking hero to create a delectable concoction of a Regency historical sure to please readers tired of cook-cutter romances.

This book was a pleasant surprise – so glad I picked it up to read. First off, I loved the beginning scenes with Bastien and Raeven. Very witty, cute a funny. She’s bound and determined to take revenge on him for supposedly killing her fiancé. She dresses herself as a man and challenges him to a sword fight. Then her hat falls off and Bastien is in instant lust. Raeven came across as a strong, independent and caring heroine. She was raised by her dad on a ship her whole life, so she does have a...more

It's not often when a book can make me cry. To be honest, it usually never happens, but I admit to weeping like a baby on more than one occasion while reading The Rogue Pirate's Bride. Oh my, this book was so good. Full of action, suspense, mystery and some pretty steamy love scenes it had me turning the pages in an attempt to keep up with everything.

It tells the story of Sebastien Harcourt, marquis de Valere (aka Captain Cutlass), a privateer sailing under letters of marque from Spain, and at the moment, seeking revenge on a Barbary pirate responsible for the death of his mentor. I really love this book!
Terutama karena lead ceweknya, Raeven Russel (namanya keren ^^) tangguh banget, jago main pedang (dan hampir semua jenis senjata, termasuk meriam kapal!), berani, dan bukan dari kalangan bangsawan. Ayahnya seorang Admiral dari HMS Royal, milik Angkatan Laut Inggris.
Sedangkan lead cowoknya, Sebastien Harcourt, Marquis de Valère, aka Captain Cutlass dikenal sebagai privateer (atau menurut pemahaman bahasa inggrisku yang kacau balau, bajak laut tapi resmi dengan membawa nama...more

I am in love with a Pirate and his name is Bastien. *le sigh* Is that not one of the best dialogue highlights you have ever read? I KNOW! It is fabulous! I can see the characters in the scene. After her fiance dies at (according to what she's been told) the hands of the barbarous Captain Cutlass, Raeven Russell wants revenge. But when she comes face to face with the infamous pirate, she not only finds it impossible to skewer the disarmingly handsome rogue, but also discovers that both adventure and passion await on board his ship. There's a bit of a snag though - she's the daughter of a British admiral, and her father's intent on seeing Cutlass hang.

Shana Galen does it again and this time it’s filled with even more adrenalin adventure and passion. The Rogue Pirate’s Bride is the third book in the Sons of the Revolution trilogy. Each book was great alone and definitely got better with each story of the brothers. I will say though that I was a tad surprised there was little interaction with the brothers, the mother, and the women. But then again, any setting other than on a boat in battle or in love would not have made much sense for this par...more

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The story is told from the point of view of Sebastien (Captain Cutlass) and Raeven Russell. Raeven has lived most of her life on a ship with her father, an admiral for the British Navy. The story starts with Raeven dressed up as a boy and challenging Captain Cutlass to a duel. When she hears that Captain Cutlass is in the same dock as her she finds she can't let him escape what he has done. When Bastien is challenged by a young lad he tries to dissuade the boy...more
A fun, exciting and adventurous read. I was riveted from the first page. Absolutely could NOT put it down.
I love when the heroine can hold her own against the men...be it with a sword, dagger, cannon or climbing the rigging. It's even better when she has to rescue the hero. This is definitely one for the 'keeper' shelf and Raeven and Bastien's story will definitely be one of my favorites.
