Do You Applaud Or Vomit?

I have been a fan of Kembra Pfahler and her band, the Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black, for many years now, but still haven't found a way to explain why. That's part of the fun. There's a very unexplainable, you-just-have-to-witness-it-yourself quality about Kembra's performances, and that's the point of this book. It documents in photos some of Kembra's more recent and high profile pieces. The photos are, well, indescribable, at least using words allowed here. Suffice it

The butt prints are beautiful. I don't think "transgressive" things read as being transgressive anymore, so something about this book feels dated. A lot of artistic strategies that were effective under Bush feel off now. I follow Kathy Grayson's dog on Instagram, cool to read her text.
