Disappointingly bad. A magnificently handsome young man gets involved in a plot by a mad scientist to clone only beautiful people on some faraway island. Along the way our guy, who wanted to keep his virginity, is forced to have sex with lavishly beautiful women. The book reaches its finale when the hero gets to take part in an FBI rescue mission to infiltrate the secret island base, which is also infested with equally beautiful and continuously naked youngsters who fornicate 24/7.

RESPECT AND RULES!
Στην αρχή διαβάζοντας Boris Vian σκέφτηκα " φίλε μου κάτι δεν πάει καλά με αυτό τον άνθρωπο" ..
Αυτό ήταν το πρώτο του Βιβλίο που διάβασα και μετά τα πτώματα που έχουν το ίδιο χρώμα - που το θεωρώ καλύτερο- νομίζω ότι είναι από τα πιο ευκολοδιάβαστα(!) του. Και δηλώνω φανατική αναγνώστης του.
Δεν εχω λέξεις να περιγράψω ..
Σκεφτείτε έναν πινάκα του Νταλί φτιαγμένο από λέξεις η την εβδόμη συμφωνία του Μπετόβεν φτιαγμένη από εικόνες... Αυτό δημιουργεί ο Βίαν.!

¡Hay que ver qué suerte tengo! Que se mueran los feos ha sido siempre mi himno particular. Había oído la expresión con anterioridad y no la asociaba ni remotamente a una novela, sino más bien a un dicho popular o algo por el estilo.
Un experimento interesante, a ver si algún día me seleccionan a mi también para un experimento parecido.

herhangi bir boris vian kitabına, hatta 'vernon sullivan' bilinmezliğine burun kıvırabileceğime, daha doğrusu buna yeltenebileceğime dair inancım artık kalmadı. genel tutumun ve beğeninin aksine benim için en iyi kitabı 'kızıl ot' olacak sanırım, fakat bu beni geri kalanları okumaktan alıkoymayacak.

Si Vian s'était contenté de rester sur sa ligne conductrice du début, plutôt que de relater une suite d'orgie sexuelle (pas tout à fait mais c'en est pas loin), le livre aurait été plus digeste.
Siempre genial Boris Vian, hiciera lo que hiciera, mezcla de surrealismo y novela negra, o viceversa.
I really liked it. It was a hillarious book which combined jazz musicians and crazy doctors.
j'adore comme d'habitude le style de Boris Vian mais la trame m'a beaucoup déçue, ce côté Sullivan, je n'adhère pas

The genius of Boris Vian never tires. He lived five lives in one - and one of his great identities is Vernon Sullivan. Vian's love of pulp literature is an outlet of his terror fantasies of what America is at the time of the writing of this novel - late 1940's. This book reads like a Hardy Boys young adult novel with sex and mixed in the soup great pulp science fiction touches. A remarkable entertaining read. Oh and i published it!
ich war gespannt, nach so viel hype... boris vian - die kaputten berliner bohemians, die ich in den späten 90ern in kreuzberg kennenlernte waren alle riesenfans von ihm - tja, leider muss ich schreiben: dieses buch braucht nicht gelesen werden. es ist schlicht langweilig. vielleicht konnte in den 60ern noch ein bissl ein skandal damit befördert werden, aber heutzutage. vielleicht sollt ich noch ein anderes von ihm lesen...

Primera novela de Boris Vian. Cruda, brutal, magistral. Tensa, alocada... Muy recomendable, aunque no llega al poder poético de otras de sus obras.
