I really liked this book. At first I was really annoyed with it and how everything was falling apart in Foo. But near the end I became hopeful again and I am excited for the next book. The creatures and the stories behind this book is just amazing. How people come up with things like this I just don't know. May fate be good to Foo.

I’ve mentioned with the two earlier books that I saw a lot of similarities between this series and Harry Potter. I’ve also noticed that the author has a way of inserting little thoughts about life and the situations in the book that reminds me of the way Lemony Snicket writes in “A Series of Unfortunate Events.”

I am glad that this book has an index because it gets a little hard to keep track of all the different people and types of creatures. I thought that the second book started out a bit slow...more

Now as Reality and Foo are being threatened to collide Leven must travel through Foo to find the Want who can give him the power to stop this from happening. Foo is the place where our dreams reside and what would happen if our dreams and reality collide? Leven can not let that happen and has set out once more to stop the evil forces that threaten our reality.

Leven Thumps and the Eyes of the Want is the third book in the series and this book renewed my love for Leven. The second book had kind of...more

This is an interesting story line and I'll probably finish the series. I like the imagination of the author that create such fantastical possibilities. However, this book is very different from, say, "Wrinkle In Time." Often the descriptions are too broad and the magical definitions too general to engage me in the book. In each book, I've found myself having to relearn about the characters and the rules (which seem to conveniently change) that govern them.

the problem is that sebim wants back into foo.
setting: this book goes back and forth between reality and the land of foo in the present.

Antagonist: there are more then one but they are all controled by the dearth witch is the grould under foo

protagonist: leven thumps he is a human/nit boy who can change time and ccontrol the future.

I really liked the way clover and leven interact with eachother.

I didn't like the way that sebim was so evil and con...more

Maybe these books are slowly growing on me, or maybe its just that they took so long to get going that they're finally becoming interesting, but this one seemed better than either of the first two.

In this installment, Leven has to first stop the terrible Secret. As Foo gears up for a momentous battle, the defenders of Foo - the Sycophants - watch their shores, ready for battle. Normally, the Sycophants - despite their diminuitive size and quirky behaviors - wouldn't bat an eye, as there is only...more

I definatly did not enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed the first two books in the Runaway series. It may have just been me, but I felt like most of the book was people talking about what was going to happen, and then it happened in the last 5 or so chapters. There is a plot twist, and when I think about it, I'm just like "Wait.... what?". It's mentioned in the book that Geth might have known it would happen, but I looked back into the previous two books and found absolutly nothing as far as Ge...more

This book was very exicting! Full of laughs and thought shafts, I liked it very much, it kept me wondering...

A few old characters from previous books come into Foo, Swig the sycophant gets his first burn...and Geth, Winter and Leven get separted.

Leven is summoned to the abode of the Want, who lives on the island of Lith, the 13th Stone; there he shows Leven some very interesting things, all the while harboring a dangerous piece of news that could change Leven forever.

Geth and Winter are capture...more

Leven Thump's journey has barely begun in Foo. He has restored Geth to his former human body and has broken the evil curse of Sabine. But Sabine has not yet been conpletely destroyed. He has some how taken over the body of the mortal Dennis, a janitor in reality. Also, Tim is now traveling with Dennis and Ezra. Back in Foo, Leven and Clover are still seperated from Winter and Geth. Unfortunatly, a former council member was following Sabine and now seeks revenge on Geth. Meanwhile, Leven is insea...more

This book was much better than the second. It was adventurous and exciting. I knew all the characters and was more "comfortable" in Foo after the extensive character/place development in the second book. :) I REALLY enjoyed the Want character. He was great. Can't wait for "Leven Thumps and the Wrath of Ezra"!

Once again, Obert Skye has impressed me with his admirable ability to invent truly bizarre concepts to include into Foo, the dream world. But as time goes on and the "honeymoon" period ends, I find that the lack of any clear rules in Foo starts to annoy me more and more.

I've also started to notice the fact that there's been an attempt to emulate Lemony Snicket in starting chapters with odd metaphors from a person's life. But whereas in a Series of Unfortunate Events, the intent is to remind the...more

My favorite of the series so far! The fantasy of Foo is still pretty weird, but after three books it beginning to grow on me. I enjoyed the few paragraphs of descriptive commentary at the beginning of each chapter, and I appriciate the humor. Also, the author is keeping the story going in "reality" as well, and it's fun to picture the land of foo and the real world on a collision course--maybe some of the detestable, rotten characters will have opportunity for redemption in the end.

I found this book darker than the others with lots of evil and pain and suffering through the book. Leven doesn't even know what he is supposed to do; so the reader is at a loss too and can only see confusion and failure everywhere with little hope except in fate which also seems to be losing it. Fate is sort of god so it makes it look like god has lost control. And I'm not a fan of Skye's style of writing and his intrusion in the story. Humor is an individual thing and I struggle with his for o...more

B3:Leven Thumps is a fourteen year old boy who was last seen giving the king Geth(a mighty king of a toothpick, don't get me wrong)his true human form back. On his adventure in Foo-- a magical place where dreams live, he has to go see the "mother nature of Foo", the spirit of the Want.In this book, the third book in the Leven Thumps series,Leven encounters many challenges.Monsterous dreams and frightening secrets are just a couple.Winter, a girl with magical powers to freeze things, is Leven's be...more

At the beginning of the novel, Geth and Winter try to get the key from the secret. They are captured, and Leven is taken to see the all powerful Want. The Want is actually Hector Thumps, presumed by all to be dead. In the end, Leven accidentaly kills the Want, becoming the new Want in Hector's stead. Geth and Winter escape, and Geth reunites with Leven. Winter was separated from them.
I reccomend this book to anyone who likes an exciting, well written novel! First of all, I really like the auth...more

What a journey for leven, to find who the want was, and what leven became. I was impressed with this book, and very excited for the next one to come.

This is probably my least favorite Leven Thumps book, although I'm not exactly sure why. I should have liked it better than the first two since I read it myself this time, instead of listening to E. B. Stevens. Also, Obert Skye has finally decided to drop the phrase, "Leven's eyes burned gold." That was definitely an improvement. I guess there were just way too many main characters in this book, for me anyway. I've never been crazy about books that are told from the perspectives of ten different...more

This is the third volume of the Leven Thumps series, and I am still finding that I like some parts while other parts still annoy me. I will admit that the balance is tipping and I am not as annoyed as I was in the earlier two books. This gives me hope for the next one in the series.

As in the previous book, the storyline that grabbed me most was the one dealing with Tim, Ezra, and Dennis, along with the remnants of Sabine. The fact that Ezra is really made up of Geth's darker emotions is somethin...more

This book was ok in the beginning, but the end turned out much better. I knew what was going to happen to Leven from about the middle of the book, and Ernest (my 12 year old) said he knew from the beginning of the book. I guess he reads foreshadowing much better than I do.

This book was a very easy read, but hard for me to follow. Each chapter would skip to a different charcter and their story. I would mind if it was two or three (like Eldest), but this book had about 7-8! I can remember... Leve...more

This is were it ALL started. This is how I found the Leven Thumps series, which is honestly one of my FAVORITE series ever. I was in the library looking at books (I can't go to a library and not find a book I want to read!) and I found this one. The cover looked awesome so I wrote down the name and checked it out once we got home. The next time we went to the library I automaticly went to find book one, the gateway to foo, and checked it out. Read as if Speedy Gonzales (this was over the summer)...more

I'm completely impressed by this series. I could see how some might say it is similiar to Harry Potter. But, really, it's not. At all. Foo is it's own world. The creatures are interesting and well developed. [return][return]Each character acts according to their own personalities but also within the world that Skye imagines. The prose is lyrical and the descriptions beautiful. This is one of those books you tear through and then mourn the ending.

5*'s. This is the third book in the series. Leven is on a mission to keep the secret of the sycophants from getting out which ultimately leads him to the Island of the Want. The Want has a task for him, but is the Want still serving the land of Foo or has he turned to the Evil side? I found this novel to be rather page turning with many climaxes but still it lacked a set story. It was a bit of a cliff hanger. The next in the series is: "The Wrath of Ezra."

So far I'm not really liking this book as much as the first two. its basically the same story as the first two books. Which is good because there all following the same plot. But unlike the other two books, there is not as much action, intense parts of the book. It seems like the writer ran out of ideas and started using things like the worlds biggest popcorn, or forget-me-not water, and just other things that have been used many times.

LEVEN THUMPS AND THE EYES OF THE WANT is a really SLOW book. i would give it a 3 in a half stars. The book is mostly about Leven being on the 13th stone the whole book. Geth and Winter are captured again, and they people in reallty are trying to get to FOO. To me is is a speed bump in the LEVEN THUMPS books. once you get done with this one you will be so happy. It also holds one of the biggest surprises in all of the LEVEN THUMPS books. It will make want to go and get the 4th book as soon as pos...more

The third book in the Leven Thumps series. Leven, Geth, and Winter are chasing the whispered secret before it reveals itself to the wrong people. During the chase they are separated. Geth and Winter fall into the clutches of the evil Azure, and Leven travels to the island of Lith to meet with the mysterious Want. Before the three friends are reunited secrets are revealed, war is begun, a new gateway is found, and Foo is in more danger than ever. Another charming installment in this series.

I couldn't get into this book like I did the previous two. Not sure if I'm just a little burnt out from Leven, but I'm not finding Foo as compelling and fun as before. I'll take a short break from the other two books and hopefully I can get back into it. Once again Leven is out on an adventure with his friends in Foo to fix the world. There were a few good moments that I really enjoyed, but mostly I was just cursing the characters.

The more I read of this series, the more I'm getting into it. I wasn't thrilled with the first book, but I wanted to keep reading just to see what happens. I'm glad I did, because the plot gets more intense as it goes. The only thing I don't like so much is that there are a lot of characters and it seems to jump back and forth between their different experiences...I'm waiting for it all to come together, if that makes sense.
Sarah
I don't know if I've just gotten used to the disruptive narration in these books (since I read the first 3 in a row) or if they are actually getting better, but I like each one more than the one before it. I mean, none of them have blown me away with amazing-ness or clever writing, but they are coming along. There are still a bunch of unneccesary creatures with lame names and functions, but I'm getting distracted from the story less and less by the narration... I'll continue on with the rest of...more

There was a huge hype about this series because the author came to our school and everything, so I got excited and tried to read the whole thing. It wasn't that good, and now I regret it because I have a signed copy of the second book and it's personalized (he signed it "To Maigan") and I'll probably never read it again...I never finished the series, and part of me wants to, part of me doesn't...

Obert Skye read his first book at age two. He wrote his first story at age four. And he was nearly trampled by a herd of water buffalo at age six. For a short time, he lived on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, where he spent time as a candy-taster. Several years ago, Obert Skye says, he discovered the existence of Foo. Publishing his story as a fictional series was not Obert’s first choice. Neverthel...more
