I'm not sure why so many rated this book with such high ratings... For me, this book was a fast, funny and entertaining read but nothing I'll remember tomorrow. I usually enjoy a light read every now and then, but this one was maybe a bit too shallow. I discovered Lynsey Sands and her wonderful Argeneaus after about the tenth book in the series was out. I gobbled them all down one after the other and loved them. I do remember thinking they were getting a bit repetitive, but I simply loved this quirky family and the humor that Ms. Sands incorporates into her writing. Now that I read them as they come out, it's like revisiting great friends and catching up with their lives.

Carolyn is on vacation with her girlfriends to help herself recover from dealing with a bad marriage and a divorce that’s almost finalized. Her soon to be ex-husband was emotionally abusive and a schemer who only married her for her large inheritance. Carolyn’s self-confidence took a hit and she sees herself as a forty-something year old woman with a few too many wrinkles, a little extra weight and not at all desirable. Enter the Argeneau-Notte family, specifically match making Marguerite who recognizes right away that Carolyn is her son, Christian’s life mate. She works her magic and gets Christian and his band to the vacation resort and sets up a meeting between the two.

Carolyn absolutely does NOT want to be attracted to Christian, a man who looks to be in his mid-twenties. The age difference is too much for her, and although she wants to loosen up and have a vacation fling, she doesn’t want to be seen as a cougar and give in to the attraction between them. Gia, Christian’s cousin, comes up with a plan to get these two people to spend time together without the pressure of sex or a real relationship being put on the table – Gia tells Carolyn that Christian is gay and would she mind being his pretend girlfriend, since no one in his family, aside from her, knows. Carolyn agrees and their fake relationship puts them together through much of the book.

I had a really hard time liking the relationship between Carolyn and Christian based on lies from the start. Carolyn was just coming out of a marriage based completely on lies and for her life mate and his family to think that this was the best way to ease her into getting to know Christian, just didn’t sit well. Once the big reveal about Christian being an immortal finally came out, Carolyn’s reaction had me scratching my head. She initially seems scared and shocked with she walks in on the family with bags of blood attached to their fangs, but a few pages later after Christian starts talking to her about it, she’s immediately fine with everything. Easy as that. For as much build up as there was during the whole story about Carolyn not knowing who Christian really was, it was resolved very quickly and way too easily.

I did enjoy the supporting characters, which included a good amount of page time for Marguerite and Julius and Christian’s cousins in the band. They provided some laughs throughout with their good natured banter, especially when it came to trying to keep up the ruse they had going about Christian and his pretend sexual preference. Seeing the amount of page time the supporting characters received, I have to believe that Christian also received such a build-up in prior books. I came at this story as a stand-alone since I have not stayed current with this series and all 16 books. I thought it read well enough as a stand-alone, but I do wonder what fans of the series who have kept caught up will think about Christian and his story. Perhaps if I had the added layer of his history, I might have found myself more invested in the story, but as it was, it was hard to enjoy a relationship that was only “pretend” for most of the book. This was an ok read for me, parts were enjoyable, but overall I was underwhelmed with the relationship.(less)

When they arrive Christian is surprised to see that Carolyn is his life-mate but it won't be easy for him to convince her to give him a chance, since Christian looks around 25 and Carolyn is 40 and she refuses to fall for someone who looks younger than her, so now Christian has to convince her to give him a chance or he might just lose his life- mate.

I'm a huge fan of the Argeneau series, the books are all fun and quirky and make for a fun quick read but this book was just so off I almost didn't finish it. First of all I was so mad at the end of the book because I've been waiting for Christians book ever since I found out he was Margaret and Julians son. The book also sucked because Christian and Carolyn had no chemistry and the book was sooo... plotless there was no paranormal aspect to the book I think they mention the nano's and Christian being a vampire once or twice but it was by far not a big part of the book and the ending was so blah... It left me wondering what's going to happen between Christian and Carolyn and when is she going to turn into a vampire? What are they planning to do with Carolyn ex-husband? Where are they going to live? There was a bunch of unanswered questions that I just plain hate this book and wish I would have skipped it. By far worst book in series and if your a fan of the series I advice you to skip this book.

I had been curious about the Argeneau series and understood that these books could be read out of sequence, with a suggestion that the experience would be more complete when read in order. Alas, I started with the 16th book about Christian Notte. I found humor, PG13 sex, romance and an utterly ridiculous story line. When I got it as a book prize, this month, though, I re-read it so I could do a review on it. I did enjoy it more then 2nd time around.

Margeurite Notte is on her honeymoon with her husband Julius when she meets a woman she realized is her son Christian's lifemate. Unfortunately, Caroline has A LOT of issues, so there are a lot of obstacles to setting her up with Christian. Caroline is an heiress who was seduced and married for her money. Her (soon to be ex-) husband was abusive, and so she is very gun shy. In addition, Caroline thinks she is many years older than Christian, and she is VERY hung up about the age difference. In order to give Caroline time to get to know Christian, so she can see what a great guy he is, Christian's cousin informs Caroline that he is gay. She tells Caroline that Christian needs her to be his pretend girlfriend to deceive his family, so that his family does not suspect the truth. Caroline therefore feels safe hanging out with Christian, because she thinks he is not interested in her.

Of course, this causes conflicts in Caroline's mind. She is horrified to discover that she is so sexually attracted to a man so much younger than herm that she believes is gay. When their overhwlming attraction to each other causes them to have several hot kisses, she feels like she is molesting Christian. There are many highjinks related to people goofing up their "lines" and almost exposing that Christian is 1) not gay, 2) a 500-something year old immortal, and 3) her lifemate.

The books in this series are very light and airy quick reads, and this book is no exception. It took me about 2 hours to read, but it's all light-hearted fun. Some of my romance books have lots of angst, and it's fun to have a break from weightier problems and read a book like this that is like eating cotton candy or watching a Dick van Dyke movie. Just sheer insoucient fun that will leave you smiling.

I'm not a fan of the Argeneau series, which I consider more Chick-lit with fangs than UF/PNR. I have read a couple of books only (the first and the ninth, if I'm not wrong) with mixed feelings.

Christian's book was on offer at 1.99 and I said why not? It's quick, I grant you that. But I can't phantom why write PNR when your fantasy world is non existent. :)
If you are a fan of fluffy, light romance, it's a good choice. But you really have to like "light" (or is it shallow?)

I love this series and the way Lynsay Sands writes it, so I'm sorry to say that this time I'm a bit disappointed. Although I had some great laughs while reading Under a Vampire Moon, I have to say halfway through I was a bit bored and I feel like I was "cheated" at the ending. I don't know, I guess I'm one of those readers that just loves a mushy sweet epilogue, and I surely wanted one this time.

Hmmm...a weirdly funny premise...to get Carolyn to spend time with Christian...she is told by his cousin that he is gay and needs Carolyn to be his " beard". How funny is this?

I only rated this one 3 stars because, well I just didn't love it like the others. I haven't really loved it since she finished with the core family and started bringing in the cousins. Not that I didn't enjoy reading about Thomas because I so did, but the spark that courses through Marguerite's children seems to be missing from the others.

This story get's back to that original line since it's Christian's story, but I didn't fall in love with him like I did with Bastien or Etienne. I'm not sure...more

It's quite a fun read. I like Christian, very much. He is a very patient man, considering that this is a PNR book and most of the time the hero will play Tarzan to the girl's Jane. At the age of 42 Carolyn Connor is at the end of a very long and very ugly divorce. To cheer her up her best friend, Beth, decides to take her on a vacation to St. Lucia. St. Lucia, unbeknownst to her, is a honeymoon hot spot with candlelit dinners and Caribbean music. Watching all of the young and happy couples is enough to make any divorced single women depressed. The only single guys on the whole island are half of her age and that just makes her feel even older. To her Christian Notte is just another young man who is too young for her comfort level. Christian is a member of the band playing at St. Lucia and when his cousin tells her he is gay and is in need of a beard she decides to go along. When Carolyn begins to have “dreams” about Christian (in a very naughty way) she wonders if it is time to start searching for someone to fulfill her needs.

Christian has found his life mate. She is skittish and uncomfortable with, what she believes, is an age difference. Of course, at 500 years old it is definitely NOT in the way she things. You would think being a 500 year old Immortal patience would be in abundance, but being forced to pretend he is gay is just plain torture. All he can think about is having his way with her. Can Christian keep it together and earn her trust enough to tell her the truth?

Under a Vampire Moon was another win by Lynsay Sands. In Lynsay Sands world vampires are not some creature of the night, they are the Immortal. They are scientifically altered humans from Atlantis. The Atlaniteans created nano’s to fight off disease and it worked much better than imagined. The nano’s keep their bodies at peak form and health. Forever. The downside is that they must drink blood to keep the nano’s active as they use more blood than they can make. I love her original take on vampirism. This is one of my favorite series and Under a Vampire Moon did not disappoint. The characters are well formed and unique. I love the way the flow of the story pulls me in and keeps a smile on my face. I would suggest reading this whole series, but I do think this book could stand alone. However, I think reading this book alone might cause some loss of depth in the story. I loved the twist at the end and cannot wait for the next Argeneau story!!(less)

Carolyn meets Marguerite and Julius ( Argeneau, Book #9) and Marguerite instantly recognizes Carolyn as Christian’s, her son, life-mate. As it happens, Genie needs a band, and Christian is in a band. Julius immediately summons them to St. Lucia at Marguerite’s request, which is how a bunch of sun-allergic people end up in sunny St. Lucia. The family instantly recognizes that Carolyn is emotionally unready for a claiming such as Christian would take and his cousin and band mate Gia decides to tell her that Christian is gay and in the closet. By acting as his cover the two are able to spend time getting to know one another without the pressure of sexual interest. This results in a crazy comedy of errors and embarrassment on the part of both characters, but all without making the reader uncomfortable or frustrated. The two friends play a minor part in the story as Genie is constantly busy at work, and Bethany appears to be sick. None too late, Christian realizes that he must tell her the truth about his sexuality despite the uncertainty of his family that is still reading her mixed emotions and insecurities from her marriage. The vampire/immortal dilemma is taken care of quickly and efficiently near the end of the story, and in my opinion, maybe a little too accepting on Carolyn’s part. Once she starts accepting things, she seems to accept everything. The only thing negative in this read is the amount of time Carolyn is spent worrying about the age difference between her and Christian when she believes herself to be about twenty years her senior, although, this is explained quite well in the story; it still becomes a little annoying. It’s nice irony when she realizes the true age difference.

Our dear Marguerite Argeneau Notte is on her Honeymoon with the love of her life Julius Notte in beautiful , sunny St. Lucia. She wants to lounge around on the beach, drink cocktails with cute little umbrellas in them and maybe find someone to help aleve her dry spell in the sex department (her ex was a weeny, he just never used it. With HER anyway.) Marguerite is an immortal, and having mentally read Carolyn she knows that she has found her sons future life mate. Sending for Christian Notte to meet, woo and turn Carolyn into an immortal would be alot of work at any time...but Carolyn is gun shy, having struggled to get away from her abusive husband. Christian's cousin tying to help...tells Carolyn that he is gay, and would Carolyn mind being his pretend girlfriend to keep the stalking cougars away from him. Carolyn, had a best friend who was gay and felt, Why Not! But when she starts having erotic dreams about him, practically rapes him in the back of a bus, and wishes he WASN'T gay. What excuse can she use when he admits he's NOT gay, and would love to become hers. She is shocked!!! After all she's 42 and he's 25...or is he?

Fun abounds on every page in this addition to the hilarious match making of Marguerite...after all, how many people do you know who want their grown son joining them on their Honeymoon? Yeah!

...and here's my quote from this fast read: He landed on his stomach on her lower legs, his head in her lap, and her shoe jammed in his groin. It is not a memory he would soon forget, he decided, a pained groan slipping from his lips.

"Oh." Carolyn gasped. "Well, that was exciting."

Loved this book!

This book is set on the island of st lucia. 2 friends are on holiday. Carolyn is getting through a messy divorce and her friend takes her away on holiday to help her get through this and move on with her life. Finished Under a Vampire Moon: An Argeneau Novel and thoroughly enjoyed it, very much like the early books. With the help of his cousin Gia and his family he sets out to gain the trust of his life mate. The only catch, she thinks she is acting as his “beard” around his family. It gets harder and harder to keep up the charade the more time he spends with Carolyn because she makes him laugh and he enjoys her company.

I loved Carolyn. She’s an older woman that has real life experience, even if it wasn’t the best. She has had to overcome so much to get to where she is now and with Christian’s help, she will have finally have the life she deserves. It was nice to see her grow and become comfortable in her own skin. I do think she accepted Christian’s explanation a little too easy; he should’ve had to work at it a little more.

Christian is one of my favorite of Marguerite’s sons. He is super sexy, yet he has to play a gay guy in order to get his life mate to trust him. She has a serious issue with the age difference but doesn’t realize how much older he really is. These two had some great moments that had me laughing out loud, they are super-hot together too.

One of my favorite things about this book was that a lot of my favorite characters made an appearance without getting in the way of the main story with Christian and Carolyn. The secondary characters just enhanced their story. The setting was beautiful and Captain Jack was hilarious. The story may have been full of humor but it also had plenty of steam to satisfy everyone.

Overall I really enjoyed this installment and can’t wait to read the next one. I give Under a Vampire Moon 4 Flaming Hearts.

The entirety of UNDER A VAMPIRE MOON takes place on St. Lucia. Even if I didn't adore Lynsay Sands, which I do, and didn't love this book in particular, which I did, I would still think that UNDER A VAMPIRE MOON is good for Saint Lucia. Carolyn finds Christian attractive, but she is hesitant on dating him due to the fact that he looks to be in his mid-twenties while she is in her forties. She does not want to look like a cougar to everyone. What Carolyn doesn't know is Christian is older than he appears since he is an Immortal. To ease Carolyn's fear of dating an older man -- and to get her comfortable around Christian -- his family comes up with the idea of pretending he is gay and have Carolyn pose as 'beard'. Carolyn thinks Christian needs her to pretend to be his girlfriend to keep his family on the down low of being gay.

While I am huge fan of Lynsay Sands, I have to say I was a little disappointed in this book. Yes, the humor and fun is still part of the story, but I expected so much more for Christian and his life mate. I wanted action and drama so I could be swept away in the romance. Unfortunately, the romance fell flat for me and I never could bring myself to enjoy Carolyn's character. While the family dynamics were humorous and fun to read about with the cover-ups and last minute ploys, I just didn't feel that the author gave it her all with Christian's story. Plus the ending was so rushed when Carolyn found out the truth that it felt as though the author did a rush job on it to get it finished.

While I agree with recommending this book if you are a die hard fan as I am, don't expect it to blow you away and be a favorite of the series. Expect laughter, some romance thrown in, and an odd cast of characters. Not bad, but definitely not my favorite of the series.(less)

I don't usually read novels in a series out of order. I really dislike doing that but I had the opportunity to receive this novel as an ARC. There's no way I can read 15 books in front of this one and get my review in before the publishing date so I had to break my rule and read book 16 in the Argeneau series.

I enjoyed the way this one unfolded and I found that it was paced fairly well. I liked all of the characters and found they really gave this one that extra something. Not really knowing any...more

"Under a Vampire Moon" makes its debut as book number sixteen in the "Argeneau Vampire" series. Lynsay Sands, gives us another glimpse into an immortals struggle to find and secure a "lifemate." As with most "Argeneau" tales, the pronouncement of a lifemate, begins with the loving interference of one, Marguerite Argeneau. I'm a big fan of the books in the series that feature Marguerite. She's always funny and mischievous and she can always spice up a story that is a little flat.

1.) I started The Deed (my first romantic comedy and the first book to be published) a year after my mother's death. I was very close to my mother and the year following her death was about the most miserable time imaginable. But then I decided I was tired of being down and unhappy, and looked around for something to lift my spirits and make me laugh. When I couldn't find anything, I decided to sit down and write my own. It worked! Emmalene and Amaury's antics in The The Deed had me chuckling as I wrote.
2.) I met my husband in New York in July 2003. I was there because of the RWA conference and he was there on vacation. The first day there we kept running into each other and chatting in front of the hotel, and then he asked to join our group (it was very brave of him. He was the lone male amongst six or seven women, lol). He's a Brit and I'm Canadian and the first two months of our relationship were conducted by phone as well as over the internet. Our first date was a week in New York in September, followed by three weeks in England. He then came to Canada in both November and December, the first time to propose and the second time for Christmas with my family and then to take me back to England with him for New Years. I lived in Northern England for two years. We married in New York and now live in Canada.
3.) I was writing about my husband before I met him. Single White Vampire came out in September 2003 and I took a copy with me to England when I went for the three weeks. I walked into my now-hubby's house to find at least six months worth of mail unopened and stacked up on a shelf inside the front door. When I stopped dead, eyes going wide with shock and asked "My God. That's mail. You don't open your mail?" He looked embarrassed and muttered some explanation about bills automatically being paid by the bank so no need to open those and everything else was unsolicited and he couldn't be bothered. When I burst out laughing, he started to frown and said "What?" My response was to dig out the copy of Single White Vampire and hand it over with the suggestion he read it. The mail thing wasn't the only similarity he had to Lucern Argeneau. There are many more and when he sat down to read the book, he kept stopping and turning a rather startled and even suspicious gaze my way and muttering that this sounded familiar" or that did. I had to point out that it really was coincidence, that I had written that story at least nine months before meeting him. LOL.(less)
