This book is about Pinkalicious and her Valentines day party. She likes her class Valentines Day party and is excited to make a card for her best friend Alison. She makes it fancy, but the card that she gets is not so fancy and she is disappointed just for a second because she realizes that what it says is better than how it looks so she has the best Valentines Day ever.

I like the simple way this teaches children that value isn't based on appearance. My four-year-old daughter enjoys it too, and we've read it a dozen times since Valentine's Day.

Themes of don't judge something by the way it looks arise as Pinkalicious navigates the Valentine's Day holiday making a secret valentine card for her class' Valentine exchange party
