Really, REALLY wish I would have had this book a few years back when I made the decision to pull my miserable kid out of preschool and make the jump into homeschooling.

A lot of rehash for me, but one key point: "Gifted children in particular need developmental and intellectual peers" rather than chronological peers. I've always believed it, but it definitely made me feel better to see it backed up by fact.

I needed this book right now. Badly. And it has cleared up a lot of concerns for us as we strongly consider homeschooling our atypical 2e son.

Recommended for parents of atypical kids!

Excellent description of what can happen when a child is experiencing poor educational fit within the school system. If you're on the fence about homeschooling, this book gives you some important things to consider when making your choice.

I learned of many negative impacts of staying with a mismatched / toxic program which I had not thought of before - compelling. The authors' nuanced guidance on how to move forward allowed me to finish this book feeling validated on my intuition, empowere ...more

There are some encouraging thoughts and definitions here, but it's really light on substance or practical advice. I didn't find it very helpful.
