OMG, what a complex read and an amazing surprise I was definitely NOT expecting. The last book of the series starts out with a huge WTF moment. We are immediately, without warning and without regards to our fragile hearts, thrown into the midst of a battle scene between the Demon Enforcers and the evil duo, Ruth and Nicodemus. In grisly detail, we are forced to watch the deaths of Jacob and Isabella, right in front of their daughter who barely escapes with her life.

I liked this book for the most part but there were a few things i had issues with. The beginning was CRAZY and very sad actually...but then things started to get really interesting because of Leah's abilities and i really liked what Jacquelyn Frank did with all of that, and how she brought Adam into the story...that was VERY cool! I bought this book in a charity shop and had I known that this was #6 in a series, I wouldn't have bought it. I'm the type of person that must read a series in order.
The edition that I bought did not indicate that it was part of a series. In fact, where it is the norm to list other novels by the author, it only lists two books: Seduce Me in Dreams and Seduce me in Flames. This led me to believe that if it was part of a series, then it would be the first book.

Let me start out by saying that I absolutely LOVE Jacquelyn Frank's Nightwalkers series. I remember that I began to read the books back in the winter of 2009 and it did not take me long to finish (I finished "Noah" in less than 24 hours.) And it broke my heart to know I was done with such an AMAZING series.

I cried.. yep. 25 pages in and I was crying. I haven't cried from a book since Dumbledore kicked the bucket in the Harry Pooper series.

Jacquelyn Frank has a way with conveying emotions through words. I thought the beginning to her story was unique and very emotional. It made me hurt to see how our favorite Demon's lives had turned out. I cried for Leah.

Frank is clever at creating worlds that are unique. I read all of her books but nothing has the impact like her Nightwalkers series....more

Ruth lives for vengeance after the death of her daughter and vows to destroy those responsible. Everyone from shifters to vampires and demons have been burned by her hate. But there is hope. Young Leah has the power to travel in time and rectify the past. If she dares. When she learns that her father had an older brother named Adam who mysteriously disappeared, she devises a plan to bring Adam back into the future to kill Ruth and Nicodemous before they can murder her parents. But by doing this rash act, will she have changed things for the better or the worse?

Adam is an Enforcer and proud of his heritage. Strong and brutal, he watches over the demon population. However, he soon finds himself having to watch himself! There he finds the alluring and saucy vampire named Jasmine again and, due to drastic changes in the demon society, their match is no longer forbidden.... Oh, temptation!

Jasmine was attracted to the demon Adam and never forget him but when he suddenly disappeared, she was devastated. Thinking herself abandoned, she can't believe her eyes when she sees him 400 years later and looking exactly the same. Will this time be forever?

I have mixed feelings about this book. While I loved returning to the Nightwalkers series, I imagined everyone in the Nightwalkers series living contently and happily. To read their suffering was a bit difficult for me since I had grown to care for them deeply. On the other hand, Adam and Jasmine are fantastic main characters, but it takes about almost a quarter way into the book before Adam even appears! The early part of the story concentrates on Leah. While I admired her courage and resourcefulness, Leah seemed a bit spoiled and bratty. Also, I didn't like how she manipulated Adam early in the story.

As I mentioned earlier, the author does a fantastic job of giving Adam depth. Once Adam appears in the story, I found myself very involved. He could have been a Neanderthal brute but I liked how he transforms into a complex hero. I also enjoyed his growing relationship with the tough and sassy Jasmine. I liked that Jasmine is strong and resourceful and can stand up to Adam’s fierce personality. I give this book 4 stars primarily for Adam and Jasmine wonderful personalities. Although Leah part moves along the plot and storyline, I found her a bit annoying and skipping her sections.

It’s been a while since I’ve read Noah’s story. I haven’t yet started on the other series starting with the Shadowdweller Magnus even though in this book there is a hint on Shadowdweller Sagan whose book will appear in September in Germany.

On the first 20 pages already, I got a punch in the guts: What the hell? Why did she do that? I just wanted to throw the book against some wall and start reading another book. After having finished the book now, I have to say that I’m quite satisfied with the outcome. I’m even a bit astonished that the author focused on plot rather than on character development. Usually, she was spending a lot of time with her characters contemplating the benefits or disadvantages of a possible relationship. Well, this did take place in “Adam”, but didn’t take up as much room, maybe also due to the shorter length of the novel. Adam, of course, is having some trouble with Jasmine being a vampire, a species which is his enemy. But being thrown into the modern times, where there is peace between demons and vampires, he can’t wait to try out all the former forbidden acts. Jasmine also has numerous problems with serious commitment to a man. She is hurt from his disappearance 400 years ago and it’s not easy to overcome such feelings.

But their difficulties are overcome rather quickly and the plot moves fast on to a great finale. The erotic scenes aren’t as strong in here as in the other books in this series. But that might just be my personal impression.

I have to subtract one point because of the writing style. Could be that it is just the translation from English to German, but I don’t really think so. I will definitely read the next book in English to find that out. Even though it hurts my booklover’s soul to not have matching covers in my shelf. But, I just found many sentences jolty and not very smooth, suddenly short and simple without any linking to former thoughts. Sometimes information without any introduction, or actions that would have needed more explanation.

Anyway, I highly recommend this books to all fans of the Nightwalker series, and those who want to become fans. But in that case you should read the books in the following order:

1. Jacob
2. Gideon
3. Elijah
4. Damien
5. Noah
6. Adam

So far. I'm only 18 pages in and I was like WHAT??? omg. Then i cried a little and prayed to god that the book did not continue to suck butt. Hopefully it wont.. I have read from previous comments and what not that, it'll get better but really??? Had to just be like oh that happy feeling you had from the other wonderful endings oh let me just CRUSH THAT!

It honestly amazes me how good the sex scenes are though. I mean wow.. It's not corny well it is a little.. But love is corny.

Okay, this doesnt feel like a Nightwalker novel to me.. It doesnt feel like any of the first 5 books in this series. That being said, its not a bad read, it's just a little weird to read about all the characters you've come to know, like, or love in this series, but you're reading about them in a completely different setting it seems. Not a Nightwalker one. And that's a little disconcerting. But the story is quite gripping.

But, I digress.... Let me START to explain...

Oh, and also: ***SORT OF SPOILER ALERT FOR THE REST OF THE REVIEW***

"Adam" starts a few months (?), maybe a couple of years after we left off in "Noah". We jump into a battle that's raging between Jacob and Bella and the Evil Bitch. Their daughter, Leah (a 7 year old Time Demon) is also with them but I don't know that we ever find out WHY she was with them. Jacob, Bella and Leah are running from some of the "Summoned", one of the Evil Bitch's specialties. If you don't know what a "Summoned" is, you'll have to go back and find my review of "Jacob", the first book of the series. Anyways, they're running and the run straight into the Evil Bitch. Through a series of miniscule mistakes, Jacob and Bella are KILLED!!!!! Evil Bitch goes after Leah but Leah is able to squeeze into a spot juuuust out of the Evil Bitch's reach. Jasmine, a very powerful and very old Vampire, comes along a minute too late to save Jacob and Bella but Evil Bitch has just run off and she is able to help Leah get to safety. But not before Leah begs to have Jasmine save Bella. But Jasmine knows, unlike Leah, that even if Jasmine DID save Bella, Bella would wither and die within 2 weeks because her Imprinted mate, Jacob, really IS dead. It breaks Jasmine's heart (this is the first time we even see that she HAS a heart!) but she whisks Leah away.

We come back and its 10 years later. Leah has grown into her powers a little bit. But everything is different. And shitty. Since Jacob and Bella's death, the Demon community has fractured. Evil Bitch and her minions are more powerful than ever. In fact, they are unstoppable. The Rogue Vampires are also getting more and more powerful. Pretty much everyone is hiding underground and no one knows what to do. Not even Noah. Some of the people we've come to know and love over the series have died, some have gone insane (no, really) and none are the warm, wonderful people they used to be. Leah has heard a story or two about her long, lost Uncle Adam. He went missing 400 years ago. No one was ever able to find him and his remains were never found. Some people assumed that he had been Summoned on that Samhain night, long ago. Adam was the Enforcer before Jacob had to take over. Adam was the most powerful Demon Enforcer that had ever lived. Jacob was devastated when his brother went missing and it changed who he was and who he became. As Leah gathers more information on Adam (she loves hearing stories about her father and anyone connected to him), she is expounding on an idea she had. She has been thinking about it for years. She has a plan and now she has information. She is a Time Demon. She can manipulate time, as we saw in "Noah". In a moment of extreme duress, she figures out how to utilize that power and transfers herself backwards in time. 400 years backwards in time. There, she can find Adam and bring him to the future present so that he can save Leah's mother and father. But what does that mean for everyone else? What happens to Leah when he future self transports Adam back to her past self and she is in the past as two different beings?? What about the ripples that her actions have created, like so many ripples in an infinite pond? Does it matter? Did the present have so much to offer? And what DOES change? CAN Adam save the people she loves most? And what of the Evil Bitch? How can she finally be defeated???

The answers to all of these questions and more can be found in this final book of the series. I highly recommend it. The entire thing. I was moved to tears when Bella and Jacob were killed. Even moreso when you read about these people that you have come to know and who have become so unlike themselves. Now that I have the advantage of having read the entire series, I have to say I loved it. I will read it again. What great writing. What amazing characters. I've fallen in love. So much in love, is it possible that I've "Imprinted" upon this series???? :)(less)

I was so excited to see a new Nightwalkers story by Jacquelyn Frank! This one features a character who is the elder brother of Jacob, the Enforcer. As mentioned in Jacob's book, and again in this one, Adam was the Enforcer in the family 400 years before, but something had happened to him, and he disappeared without a trace. This left Jacob to take up the mantle of Enforcer. In this book, we finally find out what happened!

Be prepared with tissues: The beginning of the story starts off with a tragedy that sets the Demon and Nightwalker realm reeling! It also left me reeling! Now, if you haven't read any of the previous books, set this one aside and start from the beginning with Jacob, the first book in the series and go from there, as this is the 6th book in the series, not counting the Shadowdwellers trilogy, which I recommend you read as well! The characters we know and love in the previous stories are all a part of this one as well, including one of the Shadowdweller couples.

The Mind Demon traitor Ruth and her evil vampire mate Nicodemus get the upper hand in the early fighting, and the young Leah suffers greatly from the aftermath! It's only when hearing from her Siddah (god father/ foster father) about her dad's older brother's fighting prowess, that she wishes that she could have known Adam. Everyone is cautioning her to not use her own special talents, as it may alter history, and it might not be for the better! Ruth and Nicodemus have had other targets in mind as well, and that does not bode well for anyone!

The story then shifts to 400 years prior, and we see Adam with his younger brother, and the relationship they have. While on patrol, Adam comes across what he believes to be a human woman, but turns out to be newly awakened vampire Jasmine, who is unaware there is a war between Damon's and vampires at this time. She has fun teasing Adam, and since it is near Beltaine, he finds himself intrigued by someone he knows is supposed to be his enemy! This is when the story is more fun and light hearted, and the interactions between these two set the tone for where this story might go! A mysterious gypsy girl also plays an important part in this story...

That is all I will tell, as I probably let slip some spoilers. Hopefully only enough to whet your appetite for more! This was a gripping page turner, and it made me realize I hadn't read the last Shadow Dwellers book, and I put in a request for Kane's short story in the anthology Supernatural! (less)

To me one of the things that makes a great author is one who is not afraid to do the unexpected. In this book we get that unexpected moment. We get caught off guard and drawn into a story we may not have expected.

I liked Adam and Jasmine's love story more than I expected. It still wasn't my favorite but I'm glad I got the story and the closure with some of the earlier plot lines. I have been a fan of the Nightwalker series since the very beginning. As number 6 in the series I hadn't expected a "wrap up" book but that is what I felt we got with Adam. To me it felt like the author has scripted a new direction for the series and needed to tie up loose ends (i.e. Ruth, Syreena, etc) so that she could do so.

I really enjoyed this book and found it to be one of my favorite Jacquelyn Frank books. I was very excited to see many of my favorite Nightwalker and Shadowdwellar characters making an appearance in Adam. Because of this, I would recommend reading this series in order to familiarize yourself first with her other great characters for full affect and enjoyment. OMG ..This can not be the end!!! I think this is one of the best best in this series, exciting & fast paced but for all of the tying up it did of the story it opened up just as much if not more. I would love to read more about Leah.

Ah I loved this book! I loved how it started, sucked you in straight away! It took me a while to remember all the characters after so long But it all came back!! The whole world had changed though, everybody was either depressed or crazy. After just finishing it I can't help but feel left out, because it's from the future, you get to see everyone's life, get to know Leah and Seth at age 15. An exciting story that finally puts Demon Ruth where she belongs. What a God awful evil bitch! At one point or another, everyone was involved in this story which was nice since it's been three years since the previous installment...Noah. Jacob and Isabella, Noah and Kestra, Elijah and Siena, Damien and Syreena, Ruth and Nicodemus, Kane and Corrine, as well as a Shadowdweller named Windsong and a mysterious female from the future.
