Joe Molinari (view spoiler)! Now I have to wait four months to get the next book from the library - dammit!
It looks like another "co-author" is picking up the series in Book 7, which I think is a good thing because Maxine Paetro is wandering away from the concept of the Club (i.e. the women working together to solve crimes). The ladies are all off in different directions with different plots in this book.

People who want a decent quick book to read.
I usually enjoy James Paterson's books definitely not for his writing, but at least for his suspensful stories, but The 6th Target fell a little short for me. There was hardly any character development and I felt like he wrote the book just to get another "Best Seller" under his belt. As far as the Women's Murder Club series goes, I have only read the first one, which I really enjoyed. This being the 6th book in the series, I got the impression that James Paterson really has no idea how to write...more
The gang is back to solve another case, except that this time, there are numerous parallel mysteries running amok in Patterson's THE 6TH TARGET.
Fred Brinkley, a man who hears voices inside his head, is videotaped murdering four innocent people aboard a ferry. He's charged with attempting to kill two others, one of whom happens to be a now critically injured Claire Washburn.

I feel that there is too much going on in this book. It begins with a major shooting, where one of the women in this group gets shot. The trial of this murderer continues throughout the book, while other cases are happening, like some murders at an apartment building, and a kidnapping of little girl (who happens to be someone’s boss’ daughter). Everything is connected, making this a stressful time for the club, but they don’t seem concerned. Everything is treated lightly, never getting too deep...more
I have to keep reading these because I started them...but wow are they getting bad. The latest left it wide open for the 7th book. Also, my bf - a psychatrist took one look at the "Insane" killer and noted it wasn't even described correctly. also, I was left to wonder, if this person was doped up as strongly as he was...how was he still so clever?

When a madman goes on a shooting rampage on the ferry Lindsay is called in and she finds Claire a victim. So, begins another installment of these four friends tackling the bad guys of San Francisco. While Claire fights for her life in the hospital and Lindsay is on a mission to find the ferry killer, Cindy is having trouble at her new apartment building. Yuki is charged with the task of prosecuting the killer – a seemingly open and shut case.

I'm afraid. I'm very, very afraid—"bestseller" and "well-written" are definitely not synonymous.
I made it to Chapter 17, and I am sorely disappointed. I've set the book down, so no spoilers here. I watched "Women's Murder Club" on television and really enjoyed Lindsay Boxer and her adventures. I was expecting something similar in this novel, but I found that the writing was so jagged that it distracted from the storyline.

Three separate cases crop up in San Francisco to keep the Women's Murder Club quite busy. The first starts off on a beautiful day. A number of commuters and tourists are enjoying a nice ferry ride on the Bay. Shortly before reaching the dock, one of the riders notices a young mother who is scolding her son. Some would say she is being a bit harsh. However you would describe it, Alfred Brinkley has no patience for it. He pulls out a gun and shoots the mother, then the son, and then a number of ot...more
I've been reading the Women's Murder Club series since James Patterson started to write it however many years ago. When the series first started I found it fresh and engaging but with this latest book (The 6th Target) the series is sarting to get a little worn.
The write up for this book is for a serial kidnapper that supposedly has the city on edge. With lots of terrifying twists and turns that is guaranteed to keep one on the edge of their seat. When the reality was that this novel was more of...more

First of all I have to admit that I honestly only read this book because I didn't prepare for my library's renovation and I didn't have anything around that was new. The entire time I was reading this book, I felt like I was waiting for it to end. Now I just wish I had re-read one of the books I own.
I though it would be interesting because I'm normally a huge fan of James Patterson's books, but this one seemed to drag on forever. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that I read this one...more

James Patterson takes aim in The 6th Target and shockingly, misses the mark in this chapter of the Women’s Murder Club. Lindsay, Claire, Cindy, and Yuki are back again for more shrills and thrills in sunny San Francisco, but the women seem disconnected, and readers will find their friendship difficult to believe. So what went wrong with James Patterson, commonly known as “the man who can’t miss”- New York Times, this time around? Or was it his co-writer, Maxine Paetro, who dropped the ball?

The Sixth Target, by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro. B-minus.

I have liked these books, the Women’s Murder Club Series, fairly well up until this book. In this one there were too many things going on, and not enough drinks and conversation between the women. It seems to me that Patterson and Paetro are manipulating these characters too much. They are more like chess pawns being put in different places to see what will happen. A Fair story for the Murders Club.
I have read most of the novels in the Women's Murder Club series and had great expectation that this would be a super mystery. Well, all I can say is that it was a struggle to get through this novel and I was very disappointed in Mr. Patterson and his co-author Maxine Paetro.
In this book Lindsay Boxer is mourning over her best friend, Claire Washburn that had been shot during a shooting on a ferry near the Golden Gate Bridge. If you are a fan of the women's mu...more

The story line in “The 6th Target” was a tad bit sloppy; on one angle was the mass shooting in a ferry, the other angle involved kidnapping of wealthy children and then there was yet another – misdeeds in an apartment building. Three diversified plots and not one of them managed to make an impression. In fact the only impact they managed to make was adding more complexity and confusion.

The 6th in the Women's Murder Club series. As always his books go along at a breakneck speed and are such quick reads.

this was a good book. the only down side to it was that the main crime they talk about on the cover was really only 1 of three big crimes in the book. there were too many things going on in this book actually to give any one the true attention they needed. the other books all focused on 1 thing maybe 2 at the most. having 3 events going on in the book was just too many and no real detail could be given to any of them to build the story to where it really needed to be. when all 3 events finally e...more
I thought this would be a good book to read coming out of anesthesia from surgery. It was a fast easy read; but it is billed as a Women's Murder Club novel, and these women never actually got together in this book to solve a murder. About all they did was get together for drinks or lunch and never really discussed any cases. Claire gets shot on a ferry along with a mother and her son and several others who are shot and killed by Alfred Brinkly who hears voices telling him to kill people. Upon se...more

The sixth installment of the Women's Murder Club series is not as good as the fifth in my personal opinion. I agree with some of the other reviewers, that the plot, constantly going back and forth among THREE stories, was choppy. First, you have a cut and dried case of a man randomly shooting people on the ferry and then turning himself in. An insanity trial follows. Second, someone is kidnapping little kids and not asking for a ransom. Third, there is a crazy man running rampant in Cindy's apar...more
Lindsey (main character) is an idiot! Throughout this whole series I haven't been able to decide if I like her or not and I have finally decided that I don't. I think that is part of the reason it has taken me so long to complete the series. I am half way through this book and I have found myself actually skipping over whole chapters just finish the dang thing. Not like the chapters are long, any one who has read James Patterson before knows that his chapters are only about a page long (seriousl...more
I've been going through the books I have read this year and putting them into Good Reads. I know I read this, because I looked it up on Amazon and vaguely remember the plot. Sadly, it didn't make much of an impression on me. James Patterson is like brain candy - you get a treat after reading something heavy. It may be enjoyable in the moment, but the satisfaction doesn't last.
This book definitely kept my interest. It centers around inspector Lindsay Boxer, a woman who is definitely being pushed to the limit. It starts off with a cold blooded mass murder on a ferry. Meanwhile the 5-year-old daughter of a prominent newspaper editor is reported missing. Then, a crazed psycho starts murdering residents of an apartment building. Boxer and her team must find the culprits. The book also takes the reader inside the rather rocky personal life of Boxer. "Inside my head, I was...more
There is action galore in this sixth installment in the Women’s Murder Club series. Despite the somewhat misleading name, the women are solving – not committing - the murders. A madman goes berserk on a ferry and shoots random victims. In an unrelated case, children from well-to-do families are being kidnapped, but no ransom notes are forthcoming. If you like fast paced thrillers with short chapters, and a surprise twist at the end, you will enjoy this novel. If you want something more descripti...more
(This was an audio read book) This might well be the last Murder Club mystery. Not for James Patterson mind you but for me. I will have to wait a few days and think about that a little more. There are 3 police operations going on in this book which makes it a little more realistic than the novels that depict an entire unit concentrating on one thing at a time, as if life waits for loose ends to be tied up before you move on. There are also at least 2 romances but they are superflous to the story...more
There was so much going on in this book! There were multiple cases going on, as well as things in each of the girls' lives. This book defiantly is as good as the first book in the series. I loved how the characters were brought to life.
Normally, I wouldn't like having this much happening in a book. But, it worked well and I'd listen to this one again just to see if I picked up on anything that I might have missed the first time. There is drama all around the friends, especially Lindsey. There ar...more

Book 6 in the series "A Women's Murder Club"
I am totally addicted to this series, all the books are simply fun and entertaining and this one is no exception. In the 6th target we find more than just a page turner with a great plot and many surprises, a real doze of adrenaline for the readers. While we are engrossed in this mystery we get to know a little more about the members of this unusual Club and find ourselves immersed into their different life choices.
