I love the way Todd Parr brings his characters to life. Actually, not JUST the characters but the images of the real life roles that they play! It is more than the bright and vivid images on each page that speaks volumes, but providing a sundry of ways to see someone. He describes a wide range of ways to view, appreciate, and respect daddies who have very different jobs and lifestyles. He has a way of making you notice the good in the characters and not limit ourselves to stereotypical roles. Th...more
I'm always excited to read books by Todd Parr. The brightly colored illustrations are always very inviting and fun to see.
The Daddy Book, by Todd Parr is a celebration of fathers. The book shows many different fathers, with many different interests and the many ways they interact with their kids. The book concludes by explaining that although each father is different they all love their children.

Todd Parr is one of my favorite childrens' book authors/illustrators. This book has great illustrations of different dads interacting with their children. It's a fun book, and the fathers in the book look like loads of fun as well. This book would be great for preschoolers and probably children up to third grade. It would be a great read-aloud to a large group of children with its' bold and bright illustrations.

I received this for Father's Day in 2005 or 2006. It was purchased at a mall in Virginia while we were visiting Kim and Mike. Gert and I had a huge blowout argument about something or other (interesting how the topic is always forgotten). This was just kind of shoved to me.
Nevertheless, I love it because Beetle gave it to me. :)
All fathers are different, but they all love their children.

The Daddy Book by Todd Parr is a picture book celebration of fathers. Harriet picked out the book at the library because she saw some fathers who reminded her of her own. She brought the book home and read it to Ian.
The fathers in The Daddy Book aren't idyllic representations. These are silly, unique but loving men who are fathers. They are playful. Sometimes they are disorganized and they might even wear mismatched socks!
